Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America Board of Directors Meeting Minutes Dec. 7, 2014 Attendees: Spike Williamson, Shellie Greyhavens, Peg Johnson, Nancy Robertson, Judy Vittetoe, and Jill Johnson. Spike called the meeting to order at 7:00pm ET. Committee Reports Minutes Minutes from the 8/3/2014 meeting were sent out via email and were approved as written. Presidents Report See attached report. Treasurer s Report The balance in the General checking account is $13255.90, and the National account balance is $6876.16, as of 10/31/2014. Membership Report See attached report. BRCC Report See attached report. Titles and Events See attached report. All committee reports were voted on and approved. The 2014 National held in Springfield, MA on Nov. 20-22 nd went very well, the seminars were very good, and the banquet was enjoyed by many as well as the talk from Dr. Bataglia. Estimate of just fewer than 50 attended this event. The ISAA 2015 calendars have been on sale since Oct., the club should receive a check in Feb. Unfinished Business The 2015 National will be held in Greenly, CO. The BOD agreed there needs more advertising for this event. Wilma Roam is excited to judge and will be presenting a seminar. Peg will follow up with Brenda Solomon about the logo for the event and other event details. Election results were posted to the website and will be in the next newsletter. Peg volunteered to send notice to AKC with those results.
The newsletter will be completed soon waiting on herding info. Three members volunteered to be on a National Committee that would provide annual awards for member owned dogs. Information was received from Trish Ginther, the BOD requested additional information and to date that has not yet been received. Legislative Liaison and Committee: The BOD asked for volunteers to help form a committee to review legislation. 2nd Update: No volunteers have expressed interest. New Business Website: The BOD discussed moving forward with plans to revise the current website. Nan and Shellie will come up with questions for the membership to determine what the goal is for the new site and Zooza may be used to poll the membership. Peg has agreed to be the contact person in regards to the Luthundin database that has been discussed over the years and the ISIC meetings. Spike has written a summary that he will pass to Terry our new president, and Jill has agreed to help Amber with her transition to membership secretary. Nan will continue to be the webmaster and work on updating the database. The AKC full club membership meeting will be held Dec. 19 th. President Report to the Board of Directors Period 07-01-14 to 09-30-14 3 rd Qtr 2014 AKC Gazette Breed Columnist Donna McDermott, our AKC Gazette Breed Columnist, on September 4 th submitted an article to the AKC for the December 2014 issue of the Gazette. A copy of the article will be posted to the club s web site after it appears in the Gazette. AKC FULL CLUB MEMBERSHIP We received confirmation that our application was received, it was presented to the AKC Board, and will appear in two forthcoming AKC Gazette. If everything goes well we are hoping to have this item completed by the end of the year. BOARD MEETING The third quarter 2014 board meeting was held Sunday, August 3 rd. All seven officers were in attendance. The minutes have been posted to the club web site. CALENDAR COMMITTEE The calendar committee has collected pictures to produce three sets of 2015 calendars. They are targeting early October to begin sales. This year s committee is: Amber Jessop (chair), Joan Dow, Dawn Christenson, and Maiya McAuliffe. ISIC CONFERENCE We notified the Swedish club that Peg Johnson and I would be attending the 2014 ISIC conference that will be held on October 24-26 at Salnö Gård, Sweden. Our club report was also distributed to the other clubs for their information prior to the meeting. NEWSLETTER Volume 15, # 3 of the 2014 newsletter was distributed to the membership on September 11 th. NOMINATING COMMITTEE The Nominating Committee has been working on obtaining officer candidates is required to submit the nomination list to the Board by no later than October 11 th.this year s committee is: Thordur Runolfsson (chair), Stu Marsh, Kathryn Ananda-Owens, and alternates Donna McDermott and Maggý Pease. HEALTH INFORMATION CERF: CERF closed in June, 2014 and all of its records are being merged into the OFA database. OFA: Ten dogs had OFA HD (hip dysplasia) testing this quarter. Eight were good, two were fair. Twelve dogs had OFA eye tests. All were normal although one had a breeder option diagnosis of D3a: Persistent Pupillary Membranes-Iris to Iris. Three dogs had OFA elbow tests. Results were normal.
One dog contributes to the DNA database. One dog had a multiple drug resistance test (MDR1) and was normal. CHIC: There was one new CHIC dog this quarter: SAND CREEK ASHWOOD'S SALUTE TO GLORY 8/22/2014 PennHip: As of July 23 rd (last data available), there are 181 Icelandic Sheepdogs in the PennHIP database. the DI stats are listed below: min = 0.24 max = 0.96 mean (average) = 0.54 median = 0.53 75th %ile = 0.44 60th %ile = 0.50 25th %ile = 0.65 Membership Report for July 1 to September 30, 2014 5 new members, 1 lapsed renewal Active members as of 9/30/14 = 218 Last ISAA Membership # assigned = ISAA #664 Paid Through December 31 st of: Number of Active Members 2014 183 2015 7 2016 1 2017 1 2018 3 Life Time 23 TOTAL ACTIVE 218
