GENERAL RULES FOR PARTICIPATION 2018/2019 Participants can register any number of pigeons they want. All pigeons must carry intact a 2018 ring. The fee for a team of 5 pigeons is 400 The registration fee is 100 per pigeon. For every batch of 10 pigeons sent (2 teams), an additional pigeon can be included for free. Likewise, for every batch of 15 birds (3 teams), 2 additional pigeons can be included for free. Once registration has been completed, the pigeons will become the property of Derby Maspalomas. Pigeon fanciers who submit pedigrees for their pigeons agree to have them published on the Derby website. Pigeons can arrive at the loft from 15 April to 30 September, 2018. FINAL (TAN-TAN or AT SEA +400 km): in April, to be announced. Pigeons will be provided with an electronic chip for their monitoring upon their entry into the loft. Private pigeon fanciers with a federation license may participate according to the regulations. People who want to participate can register pigeons using pigeons offered by pigeon fanciers to be sponsored, which will be announced in the News section of the website. The payment method for the registration fee of the pigeons will be in cash or by bank transfer to the account: CAIXA IBAN ES20 2100 1766 4101 0049 1051 Withdrawals during the familiarisation period can be replaced for free. Owners will be informed directly or, failing this, through the website, about the missing or lost pigeons, as well as any losses suffered, so that the contestants can replace the pigeons. 1
HOW TO SEND THE PIGEONS Directly to the loft using a courier. Pigeons coming from the Peninsula or from any foreign country must be sent to GANDO AIRPORT (Gran Canaria) with prior notice to our partner agency, Transitarios Garpez, office 52 of the Cargo Terminal of that airport (contact:yolanda or Alexis, phone numbers:928 579428/Mobile 609665755). For pigeons coming from the Canary Islands, please contact the organisation, which will provide you with information on our interisland partner agency (Antonio Rodríguez). Pigeon fanciers who have not submitted them will not be entitled to 50% of the money raised in the auction or for any prize they win by participating. TRAINING Pigeons will be released as many times as necessary in order to prepare them to ensure that they are well able to face the difficulties that await them before touching down. If the basketed pigeons were to be less, the prizes will go down proportionally.if this number were to be greater, the prizes will increase proportionally. 50,000 in PRIZES CONTEST RULES The control period will be at 10:00 p.m. on the date of release and from Tan- Tan will last three days, unless the prizes have not been covered, in which case the period will be extended until 12:00 noon the following day. The pigeons will be released under good weather conditions. If necessary, the organisation will bring the baskets to the release site to wait or postpone the release for another weekend. Once the final (from Tan-Tan or at sea) has taken place and the contest is over, the pigeons that have returned will be auctioned off and once it is over, the trophies and prizes will be awarded to the winners within a period of approximately one month. The pigeons that are not to be auctioned off after the final from Tan-Tan will participate in a long-distance race from Essaouira or at sea 600 km for the JACINTO RODRIGUEZ AMADOR Trophy the following year. The final table of prizes will be published at the end of the registration period. ANIMAL HEALTH PROGRAMME The pigeonss will be vaccinated against paramyxovirus and smallpox. In addition, they will undergo treatment for internal parasites. All of this will be under the supervision of the official veterinarian, Ramón E. Perera González, who holds licence no. 662.
