Please keep your dogs away from shelter dogs. They are probably not as well trained as your dogs! SHOW SITE FACILITIES: Although there are indoor bathrooms at this site, they will not be available for much of the trial (i.e. early morning, late afternoon, etc.) We will have port-a-pots available on the show site. Please use the port-a-pots instead of the indoor bathrooms. MHS is on a sensitive septic system. When MHS is open, you can certainly use the bathrooms on a limited basis, for example, if your hands ended up in something unpleasant. LEASH RULE: The site owners require that ALL DOGS be on a leash except when using the warm-up jump or while in the ring. There are no exceptions to this requirement. DIRECTIONS Use your favorite app or GPS for directions to: Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446 WARM UP AREAS: There will be a warm-up jump available for ENTERED DOGS. Names will be drawn toward the end of each afternoon so listen for the announcements. BUFFER ZONES: Buffer zones will be established around the ring and will be marked with yellow poly lines. Please leave these lines in place. No tents are to be set up in the buffer zones. There will be no chairs, sitting, food, drinks, treats, toys, training, tugging or clicker use in the buffer zones. Buffer zone restrictions also apply to the gate areas, and entrance/exit chutes. CLEAN UP: Cleaning up after yourself and your dog(s) at the show site and at the motels is a must. The Event Committee may dismiss competitors that fail to clean up after their dogs. FOOD: Snacks and lunch will be provided for volunteers. DISCIPLINARY ISSUES: It is expressly understood that competitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs, family and guests. Any competitor whose dog(s), family or guests create unnecessary disturbances or engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Organizing Committee, be asked to leave the show site. Entry fees will not be refunded. The CATS CPE Trial Committee will review disciplinary problems in accordance with CPE Rules and Regulations. The following items are not considered training in the ring (also see FEO): Dog grabbing its leash at the end of a run (if the run has not yet ended, the dog would receive an NT) Asking the dog once for a sit or down on the table in the point games (asking more than once will be a delay of finish, 5 faults/points) The following items are considered training in the ring: Violating the 4 paw safety rule (directing the dog back onto the contact) Start line stay leaving the dog and going back again to reposition the dog after the handler passes the plane of the first obstacle (before the handler leaves the dog, repositioning or repeated commands can be a delay of start) Putting the dog back on the table in the point games While running on course The handler will direct the dog through the course without a collar or lead. Food, toys, training devices (includes fanny packs and leash attachments) are not allowed within 10 feet of the ring. Clickers, training whistles and squeaky toys are not to be used within distraction distance of the ring. The handler may not carry anything that could aid the dog in its performance. Exclusion: Handicapped/Differently Abled Handlers using a cane, scooter, wheelchair, etc., to enable their progression around the course. The handler may use any verbal or visual commands to direct the dog through the course. The Judge may assess a 5 fault penalty to elimination for any command that is not given in a sportsmanlike manner. Faults can be, but are not limited to: foul or abusive language, display of anger, extreme frustration or excessive harshness. If the fault is severe enough, the Judge has the right to excuse the exhibitor from the ring and / or the remainder of the trial. If excused from the trial, a report would be filed with CPE.
