mostly.. SCOTTIES by Martha Melekov 17819 Denker Ave. Gardena, California 90247 It is with deep regret that I must report the Fullers of Anchorage, Alaska were forced, by circumstances beyond their or anyone else's control, to put all their Scotties to sleep last December. Alice Fuller was in Southern California for a few days attending a very ill mother-in-law, and called to tell me the sad news. She expressed thanks, as do I, to all the many contributors for her Scots. Over $700 was paid on their board bill from these contributions, but the realiza tion that perhaps another year would pass before the Fullers could have a home for the dogs, made the supreme sacrifice inevitable. Alice d id not visit us, said she did not feel up to seeing Scots right now. All roads are leading to the St. Louis Specialty of the STCA, May 23rd, and as your correspondent will attend, a full report will be forthcoming. We have so much news this month, that we may have to present it in less detail than usual... only so much space can be used until our advertising support increases. The Specialty of the STC of Chicago was held Friday night, April 2nd, the night before the Chicago "International." A banner entry of 26 greeted Mrs. J. H. A bit of confusion regarding STCA Annual Brood Bitch trophy winners, saw a contender left out. Tied for first place in the Brood Bitch class should be Ch. Marlorain Lollipop, the dam of 2 champions in 1964. A letter from Lucille Harris of Ontario, Canada tells of the loss of her Wheaten, Harris-Shire's Wee Buttercup, who was in whelp to Glad-Mac's Top Brass... with the litter due to Whelp March 10th. Should anyone hear of any news regarding this bitch, we would appreciate hearing about it just as soon as possible. Perhaps this is a good time to remind everyone about the many reports of "dog snatching" that have occurred in many sections of the country recently. The Harrises feel this may be what happened to their "Buttercup." EASTERN NEWS by Robert A. Marshall 329 Newtown Road Wyckoff, New Jersey Perhaps Spring may have officially arrived, but as I write this there is a outside, nearly four inches deep. As you read it I hope the snow has been replaced by Spring flowers, with just enough Scots running and digging in the beds to put them in order.
