MIING Minimaster Cataogue and Technica Guide

Minimaster Minimaster too system Minimaster is a modern too system with exchangeabe carbide inserts for sotting, square shouder miing, driing, centring, chamfering and copying. The inserts are camped firmy and reiaby by means of a patented camping mechanism that has been in use for many years. Today s modern machines demand modern toos. Seco has deveoped the Minimaster system to put to fu use the potentia of today s high-speed machining centres. Minimaster is very we suited for operations such as circuar and heica interpoation, ramping, punge miing, centre driing and chamfering. Minimaster inserts perform at their very best at high cutting speeds, which offer shorter machining times and higher productivity. New features Minimaster has come further down in size to mm dia., offering the choice of 1 insert types and shanks. New shanks, made of vibration-damping meta, in diameters between mm and mm. Inserts with brazed CBN tips, ranging between mm and mm diameter for machining hardened stees and cast iron. Inserts with brazed PC tips, in diameters between mm and mm for machining materias that are easy to machine, such as auminium. New 9 shanks ranging from mm to mm diameter for high-speed machining. Minimaster the compete miing cutter range in diameters mm to mm.

The safety seeve to be used ony if the insert has faied. The insert can be fitted quicky and simpy by means of the specia Minimaster wrench. 1

Minimaster appications Centre driing, and - chamfering, radii Sotting and square shouder miing Many versions of the Minimaster insert are avaiabe. The above iustration shows how and chamfers and radii are produced in a workpiece. The centre hoe dri shoud be used for dris with 11 tip ange. Minimaster inserts are exceent for sotting and square shouder miing. Choose the appropriate size and radius to produce a sot of the required width and shape. Centre driing and chamfering in the same operation Use the strongest possibe shank The Minimaster centre cutter is avaiabe in three versions -, 9 and a combination of the two anges. Use the for ordinary centre driing. Use the 9 insert for chamfering a hoe. Use the combination insert for centre driing and chamfering (before driing) in the same operation. There are severa different types of Minimaster shank. Aways choose the shortest possibe and sturdiest shank to aow for the highest possibe feed rate and optimum productivity. Shanks of vibration-damping meta are avaiabe for operations invoving miing with ong overhangs.

Minimaster appications Producing sots and pockets by driing and miing in stages 1. Start with a driing operation. The maximum driing depth is haf the insert diameter. Choose an insert with a suitabe radius.. Cut a norma sot. Then dri again. The maximum driing depth is haf the insert diameter. 3. Cut the ast sot. This method can be used for producing shaow sots and pockets. Sots and pockets produced by ramping 1. Cutting of a rectanguar pocket is shown in this exampe. The insert diameter shoud be bigger than haf the pocket depth.. Feed the insert anti-cockwise (cimb miing) aong a rectanguar soping path. The maximum depth of the pocket is dependent on the type of shank used. 3. This method provides good chip machining conditions. It can be used for sots or pockets of moderate depth. 3

Minimaster appications Sots and pockets produced by driing, punge miing and miing 1. Start with the driing operation. The maximum driing depth is haf the insert diameter. Seect an insert of suitabe radius for the machining operation.. ri a new hoe. The radia dispacement in reation to the first hoe shoud be roughy haf the insert diameter. The maximum (axia) depth of cut shoud be haf the diameter deeper than the preceding hoe. 3. Repeat stage unti the required sot depth has been achieved. Finish the hoe (fat bottom).. Then carry out repeated punge miing to produce a sot. The radia dispacement from one stage to the next shoud be roughy haf the insert diameter.. Finish off by miing the sides of the pocket (cimb miing) to produce a smooth surface. High feed rates can be used due to the imited (radia) depth of cut.. This is the fastest method for producing deep sots and pockets. Reduces the probem of chip fow. The high materia remova rate ensures high productivity.

Minimaster appication riing and circuar interpoation 1. Start by driing a hoe in the centre of the hoe which is to be mied. The maximum driing depth is haf the insert diameter. Feed the cutter in an arc aong the side of the hoe which is to be mied.. Machine the entire hoe diameter by circuar interpoation (cimb miing). Then return to the centre and repeat the operation unti the entire hoe has been produced. 3. This method is best suited for materias which are easy to machine. Heica interpoation 1. Heica interpoation ensures good chip fow, which is particuary important when miing difficut materias. The maximum hoe diameter is amost twice the insert diameter.. By combining heica interpoation and driing/circuar interpoation, many different spot facing operations can be carried out.

Minimaster appications Miing of precision keyways 1. Use keyway cutters for producing precision keyways. The inserts are smaer than the nomina size and have a protective chamfer to ensure high strength of the cutting edges. A sot of suitabe width is produced in the first pass for finish machining to very cose toerances.. Cut an extra pass (cimb miing) around the keyway to ensure accurate size and cose toerance of the keyway. Copy miing 1. A compete range of Minimaster inserts and shanks is avaiabe for copy miing. The range is incuded in this cataogue. For more detaied recommendations, pease refer to our specia form too cataogue. The iustration above indicates the way the Minimaster BP copying insert shoud be used.
