Rabbit entries are subject to the General Rules and Regulations and the Junior Livestock Division rules, except where they conflict with the rules of this show, in which case, the show rules prevail. 3. In order to participate in the show, rabbit exhibitors must attend 1 of the 2 educational programs set by the committee. TAG IN WILL NOT COUNT AS ONE OF THE EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS. Tuesday, September 18 Breeding Rabbit Show immediately following completion of Sift Wednesday, September 19 8:00 am - JLA Meat Pen Rabbit Show Purchased will be judged first. **At the Aug. 12 meeting Meat Pen Stock will be validated. It is mandatory that all rabbits be tagged at this meeting. 4. Meat pen rabbits must be raised from purebreed stock of the same breed. 5. Breeding and ownership dates for meat pens are as follows: June 1 - Deadline for owning breeding stock, for first time breeders, if shown in Bred & Owned Class June 6 - Breeding date for 2018 Washington County Fair August 12- Ownership deadline for rabbits shown in Purchased Class
6. MEAT CLASSES: This show is governed by the A.R.B.A. Standard & Guide for Judging Meat Classes. a) All ARBA disqualifications and eliminations and those printed herein apply to each meat pen. Exceptions: Body smut of Californian (Himalayan marked) animals. Non-descended testicle(s) on bucks b) All ARBA general faults printed herein apply to each pen. Meat pens will consist of three rabbits (all the same breed and variety) c) Pens will be eliminated if more than one breed or variety is in the same pen. It is not necessary that rabbits be from the same litter, with age limit not over 75 days d) Breeding stock is limited to the following meat pen breeds: A. Californian D. Palomino B. New Zealand E. Champagne D Argent C. Satin e) Weight limits: Tag-in: Rabbits cannot weigh more than 2 ¾ pounds at time of tag-in. Sift: Per ARBA Rules; rabbits cannot weigh less than 3 ½ pounds and no more than 5 ½ pounds at time of sift. Rabbits must be weighed in the presence of the judge/committee. Exhibitors with a weight protest must notify a fair official within 1 hour of rabbits being weighted. 7. Exhibitor cannot validate more than 15 rabbits or a family cannot validate more than 15 rabbits per exhibitor. Exhibitors in a family do not need to specify which rabbits belong to which exhibitor at validation. 8. Rabbits will be sifted Tuesday, September 18 by ARBA show judge, registrar or committee designee. Rabbit entries must be signed in between 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. Sift will begin promptly at 5:00p.m. A. Exhibitor is limited to one pen of three rabbits, either sex. Exhibitor may bring three extra rabbits at time of sifting and may substitute for any disqualified rabbit or use these to substitute for the entire pen of three. B. Any rabbit disqualified at time of sift, will not be allowed to be taken off the table and then brought back later to be re-sifted by the judge. An alternate will have to be used. C. Exhibitors with a weight protest must notify a fair official IMMEDIATELY after rabbit is weighed. The rabbit will be reweighed immediately. 9. In the event a rabbit dies following the sift and before the show on Wednesday, then that pen will be disqualified and not be shown. 10. A. Following the Sift on Tuesday night, the cages will sealed by the Rabbit Committee and are only to be unsealed by a member of the Rabbit Committee. Cages will be unsealed on
Wednesday morning. Failure to comply will result in exhibitor being disqualified to show his/her project. B. Pens selling in the JLA Sale will have their cages zip tied after the show and will remain zip tied for the duration of the fair. They will only be cut by authorized committee member(s). 11. Rabbit entries will be brought to and from the show table by the exhibitor or any youth in good standing with 4-H/FFA. 12. Rabbits will be judged in two (2) classes. Grand and Reserve Champion Pens will be selected from the top two pens in each class. Class 1: Bred & Owned In this class, you must own your breeding does year around and take care of them year around. You are allowed to have your does bred by another person s buck. Any new breeding stock must be owned by the deadline for this Class. You may also keep your breeding stock at another location if approved by the Committee or Committee designee, provided they are under the exhibitor s care. Class 2: Purchased In this division, you must purchase and take possession of any stock you plan to show in this division and must be done by the deadline for this Class as printed in the fair catalog annually. You are not required to keep this stock year around. 13. 14. Allocation of sale lots for Junior Livestock Sale: a) Bred & Owned Class will receive 65% of the eligible sale lots b) Purchased Class will receive 35% of the eligible sale lots. c) If all sale lots allotted to a class are not used by that class, the remaining sale lots will be added to the other class. 15. Exhibitor is responsible for feeding and watering their rabbit project for the duration of the Fair. It is suggested to check your rabbits upon arrival to the fairgrounds and upon departure. Each evening your assigned committee member will check feeders and water bottles at 9:00 p.m. If you are unable to take care of your rabbits while they are on fairgrounds, let a committee member know or a friend and it will be taken care of. If a pen is found to be without feed and water, the assigned committee member will take a picture of the empty feed and or water bottle to possibly be used in a later slide presentation at an education meeting. 16. Exhibitor must furnish their own feed. There will be no containers of feed in or on top of cages. (Waterers/feeders will be furnished by the Fair Association). Each exhibitor is responsible for the cleaning of their cage area. 17. All non-sale rabbits will be released Saturday, September 23, 10:00 p.m. midnight. Rabbits must be signed out with a committee member prior to leaving the fairgrounds. Rabbits still in pens on Sunday morning will be donated to the Fair and exhibitor will be billed for processing. 18. ALL rabbits sold in the Junior Livestock Sale will be processed under the direction of the Rabbit Committee. All exhibitors including resale lots must pick up processed rabbits from the Events Center located on the Fairgrounds Monday, October 1 2018 from 5:00 5:30 pm. Delivery to the buyer must be made by Tuesday, October 2, 2018. All JLA Sale Rabbits will have a processing fee withheld from their sale check to cover the cost of processing. Any exhibitor not picking up their Resale rabbits will have their check withheld.
