EXHIBITOR INFORMATION Make all checks and money orders payable to: Hampton Roads Obedience Training Club, Inc. (HROTC). Trial Secretary assumes no responsibility for cash sent through the mail. Entries close at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the home of the Trial Secretary after which time entries cannot be accepted, cancelled or substituted, except as provided in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the Dog Show Rules. Entries without fees will not be accepted. Acknowledgement of entries will be made as soon as practical. Should such acknowledgement not be received by the exhibitor within a reasonable time, please notify the Beverly McGhghy, Trial Secretary. Entries not on official AKC entry forms or photocopies of entry forms without the agreement and rules on the reverse side of the official AKC entry form are not acceptable. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry. A $25.00 service fee will be added for all returned checks. Express entries: Please use "release signature" or the entry will be delayed. No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Females In Season: All but $3.00 of the entry fee may be refunded for bitches who come in season after the closing date by supplying the Trial Secretary with a certificate from your veterinarian dated the day of the trial. Entry fees shall not be refunded if a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Trial Committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including, but not limited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of entry fee will be made. An Administrative Fee of $2.00 will be withheld from all refunds for entries cancelled prior to the closing of entries. Consult judging program for time of judging. Dogs may arrive at any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. All dogs present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged. Judges will not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents are responsible for the presence of their dogs in judging ring when their classes are called to be judged. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. 5

Move ups in rally and obedience classes Move-ups must be received in writing by the Trial Secretary for Saturday, no later than 6 pm on Monday, April 24, 2017 (move-ups by e-mail to bevmc8@verizon.net are acceptable). Move-ups for Sunday must be received in writing by the Trial Secretary at the show site no later than 30 minutes after the last class has ended on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Directions to Trial Site From Monitor-Merrimac Tunnel on I-664 - take Powhatan Parkway/Power Plant exit. Go right at end of exit and take the first left onto Salters Creek Road. Go approximately.6 miles and turn right on Newsome Place. Merrimac Dog Training, 15 Newsome Place, will be on right From I-64 East or West, take the I-664 exit. Take Exit 2 Powhatan Parkway/Power Plant and go left at end of ramp. Take the 2nd left turn lane onto Salters Creek Road and go approximately.6 mile and turn right on Newsome Place. Merrimac Dog Training will be on the right. NOTE: Newsome Road can no longer be accessed from North Pembroke Road. You will need to access Newsome Road from Salters Creek Road. Exercises: Heel on Leash & Figure 8; Stand for Exam; Heel Free; Recall; Long Sit & Long Down (with leash attached). SEE CHAPTER 3, NOVICE. Exercises: Heel Free & Figure 8; Drop on Recall; Retrieve on Flat; Retrieve over High Jump; Broad Jump; Long Sit; and Long Down. SEE CHAPTER 4, OPEN Exercises: Signal Exercise; Scent Discrimination Article #1; Scent Discrimination Article #2; Directed Retrieve; Moving Stand & Exam; & Directed Jumping. SEE CHAPTER 5, UTILITY PREFERRED CLASSES ALTERNATIVE TITLING CLASSES A walkthrough of up to 10 minutes will be allowed for Novice A handlers without their dogs. Exercises: Heel on Leash & Figure 8; Stand for Exam; Heel Free; Recall; Stay-Sit or Down (Handler walks around the ring). SEE CHAPTER 11, PREFERRED NOVICE. Exercises: Heel Free & Figure 8; Drop on Recall; Retrieve on Flat, Retrieve over High Jump (with jump height set at ½ height of dog at withers rounded to nearest multiple of 2 inches); Broad Jump (set to twice the preferred jump height. SEE CHAPTER 12, PREFERRED OPEN. Exercises: Signal Exercise; Scent Discrimination Article #1; Scent Discrimination Article #2; Directed Retrieve; Moving Stand & Exam; Directed Jumping (jump height set at ½ height of dog at withers rounded to the nearest multiple of 2 inches). Order of exercises & glove number will be posted at ring. SEE CHAPTER 13, PREFERRED UTILITY. OPTIONAL TITLING CLASSES Dogs entered in BN may also be entered in any other obedience classes. A 10 minute walkthrough without dogs is allowed for Novice A handlers. A single encouragement phrase may be used during each exercise. Exercises: Heel on Leash (using rally signs); Figure 8; Sit for Exam (with dog on leash); Sit Stay (handler walks around ring); Recall (leash removed from dog). SEE CHAPTER 16, BEGINNER NOVICE. Exercises: Heel Free & Figure 8; Drop on Recall, Dumbbell Recall (dog takes dumbbell from handler, handler walks across ring), Dumbell Recall over High Jump (dog is given dumbbell by handler, handler walks across ring); Recall over Broad Jump, Group Exercise-Sit or Down. SEE CHAPTER 17, GRADUATE NOVICE. Exercises: Signal Exercise, Scent Discrimination, Go Out, Directed Jumping, Moving Stand & Exam, and Directed Retrieve. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. SEE CHAPTER 18, GRADUATE NOVICE Exercises: Six exercises will be performed; two each from the Novice, Open and Utility classes. No Group exercises. For this class scent discrimination articles 1 & 2 will be considered as a single Utility exercise. Prior to the start of judging, the judge will decide the combination and order of exercises to be performed and which glove will be retrieved (if the combination includes the Directed Retrieve. SEE CHAPTER 19, VERSATILITY. NON-REGULAR CLASSES (a qualifying score is not required to earn ribbons or prizes in non-regular classes) For two dogs of same breed or two dogs listed with AKC Canine partners of similar height at the withers. The dogs need not be owned by the same person but will be handled by one handler. Dogs may be shown unattached or coupled with coupling device not less than 6 in length. Separate entry form required for each dog entered. Exercises will be as in the Novice class. SEE CHAPTER 20, NON-REGULAR CLASSES For dogs that have an obedience title and are at least 7 years old on the date of the trial. Exercises same as Novice exercises.
