CLASSIFICATION 1) For the purpose of judging, the dogs will be divided by sex into the following classes: Junior Puppy, Senior Puppy and Juvenile Puppy. 2) For the purpose of judging, the First Place winners from each class will be brought together for the final placements of Best in Sweepstakes, Runner Up, Third and Fourth. PRIZES Rosettes will be awarded to First in each Class and a ribbon will be awarded to Second to Fourth in each class. FINAL PLACEMENTS AWARDS: All Finals Placements receive a Rosette plus, BEST OVERALL IN SWEEPSTAKES RUNNER-UP IN SWEEPSTAKES THIRD IN SWEEPSTAKES FOURTH IN SWEEPSTAKES Balance of 20% will be retained by the club to defray costs. Regular Conformation Classes Non-regular Conformation Classes 12.2 Classes 12.2.1 Regular official classes at a CKC conformation show shall be as described in (a) to (k) of this section. All classes must be divided by sex (except for Specials Only). Only dogs entered in one of the regular, non-regular, or unofficial classes shall be allowed within the show precincts. (a) Junior Puppy Class Dogs 6 months of age and under 9 months of age on the day of the show. (b) Senior Puppy Class Dogs 9 months of age and under 12 months of age on the day of the show. (c) 12-18 Month Class (All-Breed Shows) Dogs 12 months of age and under 18 months of age on the day of the show. (e) Canadian Bred Class Dogs born in Canada. Champions of any country are excluded. (f) Bred By Exhibitor Class Dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder. The handler must be the owner/co-owner and breeder/co-breeder of the dog.the owner/ breeder must handle the dog in this class, but need not handle the dog for further awards. Should the owner/ breeder be unable to handle the dog in this class, the dog may be moved to the Open Class (at least one hour prior to the judging of the breed in question. (g) The Open Class All dogs. Dogs may be divided by colour if permission of the CKC is obtained. (j) Specials Only (i) Dogs which have a recorded CKC registration, Event Registration Number (ERN) or Miscellaneous Certification Number (MCN) and have attained the required points for Championship status. All awards earned at the show will be cancelled if it is found that a dog is not registered or has not completed the requirements for a CKC Championship. Dogs entered in this class will compete for Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex and Best Puppy if eligible. After awarding Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex and Best of Winners in each breed, the judge may choose a Select Dog and Select Bitch if there are dogs in the ring eligible for these awards. The Select Dog and Bitch must be awarded in the Specials Only class. The dog and bitch selected must be champions and cannot be the Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex Winners. (ii) A dog entered in Specials Only shall be identified by gender in the judge s book and if incorrectly entered and substantiated by the show secretary or superintendent, shall be excused from the ring by the judge. Miniature Dachshund Foreign Born If still under one year of age, a foreign-born Miniature Dachshund is eligible to enter the Specials Only class after completing the requirement for a CKC championship provided the application for registration is received by the CKC within 30 days of the dog reaching one year of age. Failure to do so will result in automatic cancellation of all points on record. 12.6 Non-Regular Classes 12.6.1 The non-regular classes allowed at a CKC conformation show shall be as described in this section. If offered, these classes must be included in the premium list. A dog entered in the Brace or Team class that is spayed/neutered must be entered in an Altered Class or in Exhibition Only. (a) Baby Puppy Class Dogs 3 months of age and under 6 months of age on the day of the show. The award for this class are: Best Baby Male and Best Baby Female Best Baby Puppy in Breed Best Baby Puppy in Group Best Baby Puppy in Show (b) Veterans In this optional class for All Breed Shows, dogs must be 7 years of age and over on the day of the show. Dogs entered in this class may be spayed or neutered. The awards for this class are: Best Male Veteran and Best Female Veteran Best Veteran in Breed Best Veteran in Group Best Veteran in Show A Veteran awarded Best Veteran in Breed is not required to stay to compete for Best Veteran in Group. A Veteran awarded Best Veteran in Group is not required to stay to compete for Best Veteran in Show. (e) Order of Judging When any or all of the above described non-regular classes are offered, and including Altered Classes as described in Section 13, these classes will be judged after Best Puppy in Breed, after Best Puppy in Group and before Best In Show, in the following order: Baby Puppy, Veterans, Altered, Brace, Team, Exhibition Only (g) Exhibition Only All dogs entered in this class shall be listed in the catalogue with the same particulars as dogs entered in regular competitions. Dogs entered in this class may not compete in any Regular class but may enter and compete in Non-Regular classes and/or Parades if provided for in the premium list. 14

Owner Handled Unofficial Competition Exhibitor Eligibility 1. Exhibitors must declare their dog Owner Handled Competition eligible at the time of entry using the check box on the entry form. 2. The handler must be an owner of record listed in the catalogue or a member of their immediate family. 3. Professional handlers, household members and current assistants to professional handlers may not exhibit. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay or received payment for handling a dog. 4. Dogs must be handled by an owner-handler throughout the breed level competition for the regular show. This includes the class competition and subsequent competition in the breed ring. The same is true for all levels of group and show competition. 5. The Best Owner Handled in Breed will be selected from the eligible dogs that competed in the Best of Breed competition for the regular show. This includes Winners Dog, Winners Bitch. This excludes all dogs defeated during class and winners competition for the regular show. Determining Best Owner Handled in Breed The selection of the Best Owner Handled in Breed is held immediately following regular judging of that breed in the same ring. The ring steward will excuse all exhibitors not eligible. The judge will then award Best Owner Handled in Breed. Judging of the breed for the regular show may determine the dog that is awarded the Best Owner Handled in Breed. Guidelines: If the Best of Breed winner of the regular show is eligible for Best Owner Handled in Breed it will also be awarded Best Owner Handled in Breed. In this case the dog will be eligible to compete in group competition for the regular show and group competition for Best Owner Handled in Group. If the regular show Best of Breed winner is not eligible for Best Owner Handled in Breed and the regular show Best of Opposite Sex is eligible, the regular show Best of Opposite Sex to will compete against the eligible exhibits of the other sex to determine Best Owner Handled in Breed. If neither the Best of Breed nor the Best of Opposite Sex from the regular show is eligible for the Best Owner Handled in Breed and both the Select Dog and Select Bitch are eligible, the judge is to choose Best Owner Handled in Breed from the Selects and any eligible Winners Dog or Winners Bitch. If one of the Selects from the regular show is eligible for Best Owner Handled in Breed, excuse all eligible champions and then choose Best Owner Handled in Breed from the remaining eligible dogs of the opposite sex including the eligible Winners. If the regular show Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog and Select Bitch are not eligible, the judge may choose any eligible dog remaining in the ring including Winners Dog or Winners Bitch as the Best Owner Handled in Breed. If no dog remaining in the ring is eligible for the Best Owner Handled in Breed competition, no award will be made and there will not be representation in group competition for the Best Owner Handled in Group. Group and Best in Show Competition In the Group and Best in Show competition, the dog must be handled throughout the competition by an eligible owner. Group judging for the Best Owner Handled in Group may take place in separate rings from regular group judging. Judging for the Best Owner Handled in Show after regular Best in Show judging. Bred by Exhibitor Competition If the Best of Breed winner of the regular show is eligible for Best Bred by Exhibitor in Breed it will also be awarded Best Bred by Exhibitor in Breed. In this case the dog will be eligible to compete in group competition for the regular show and group competition for Best Bred by Exhibitor in Group. If the regular show Best of Breed winner is not eligible for Best Bred by Exhibitor in Breed and the regular show Best of Opposite Sex is eligible, the regular show Best of Opposite Sex to will compete against the eligible exhibits of the other sex to determine Best Bred by Exhibitor in Breed. If neither the Best of Breed nor the Best of Opposite Sex from the regular show is eligible for the Best Bred by Exhibitor in Breed and both the Select Dog and Select Bitch are eligible, the judge is to choose Best Bred by Exhibitor in Breed from the Selects and any eligible Winners Dog or Winners Bitch. If one of the Selects from the regular show is eligible for Best Bred by Exhibitor in Breed, excuse all eligible champions and then choose Best Bred by Exhibitor in Breed from the remaining eligible dogs of the opposite sex including the eligible Winners. If the regular show Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog and Select Bitch are not eligible, the judge may choose any eligible dog remaining in the ring including Winners Dog or Winners Bitch as the Best Bred by Exhibitor in Breed. If no dog remaining in the ring is eligible for the Best Bred by Exhibitor in Breed competition, no award will be made and there will not be representation in group competition for the Best Bred by Exhibitor in Group. Group and Best in Show Competition In the Group and Best in Show competition, the dog must be handled throughout the competition by an eligible breeder. Group judging for the Best Bred by Exhibitor in Group may take place in separate rings from regular group judging. Judging for the Best Bred by Exhibitor in Show is after regular Best in Show judging. Junior Handling Classes 4.1 Conformation Class Structure 4.1.1 Classes in Junior Conformation Handling competition shall be divided by age as follows: (a) Pee Wee Class This class is for handlers 4 years of age on the date of the competition up to the date of their 7th birthday. This class is optional and non-competitive. No placements are to be awarded; only participant ribbons, rosettes and token trophies may be presented. (b) Junior Novice Class This class is for handlers 7 years of age on the date of the competition up to the date of their 11th birthday who have not won 6 first places in the same class with competition. (c) Junior Open Class This class is for handlers 7 years of age on the date of the competition up to the date of their 11th birthday who have not won 6 first places with competition. (d) Intermediate Novice Class This class is for handlers 11 years of age on the date of the competition up to the date of their 15th birthday who have not won 6 first places in the same class with competition. (e) Intermediate Open Class This class is for handlers 11 years of age on the date of the competition up to the date of their 15th birthday who have not won 6 first places with competition and for any handler who has progressed through the Junior Open level and feels that he has enough experience to compete at this level. (f) Senior Novice Class This class is for handlers 15 years of age on the date of the competition up to the date of their 18th birthday who have not won 6 first places with competition in this class. Handlers from the Intermediate levels progress to this class. (g) Senior Open Class This class is for handlers 15 years of age on the date of the competition up to the date of their 18th birthday who have not won 6 first places with competition in the Senior Novice Class, and for any handler who has progressed through the Intermediate Open level and feels that he has enough experience to compete at this level. 4.1.2 Method of moving between classes shall be as follows: (a) If a handler achieves 6 first place wins with competition, he must move to the Open Class within his age group. (b) Points are to be carried forward from one level to the next. 16

Official Obedience Classes 9.1 Pre Novice 9.1.1 The Pre-Novice Class is an elective class and earning the title is not a requirement to enter Novice Classes. 9.1.2 The Pre-Novice Class shall be for any dog of any recognized or listed breed, mixed breed or unrecognized breed which has not earned the title of P.C.D. 9.1.3 Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. 9.1.4 A person may enter more than one dog in this class. 9.1.5 The same handler must handle each dog in all 5 exercises unless he has 2 or more dogs entered. In such cases, he must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the Group Exercise. 9.1.6 Only dogs that have not earned the title of C.D. may enter the Pre-Novice class. 10.1 Novice A 10.1.1 The Novice A Class shall be for any dog of any recognized or listed breed, mixed breed or unrecognized breed which has not earned the title of C.D. 10.1.2. Only one dog per handler is allowed in this class, and that person must handle the dog in all exercises. 10.1.3. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or a member of their immediate families, and must be eligible to handle under section 10.1.4. 10.1.4. No person who has trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a C.D.X. title shall be allowed to handle a dog in this class. 10.1.5 When a dog is wrongfully entered in this class, any score awarded will be cancelled. 10.2 Novice B 10.2.1 The Novice B Class shall be for any dog of any recognized or listed breed, mixed breed or unrecognized breed which has not earned the title of C.D. 10.2.2. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. 10.2.3 A person may enter more than one dog in this class. 10.2.4 The same handler must handle each dog in all 6 exercises unless he has 2 or more dogs entered. In such cases, he must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the Group Exercises. 10.2.5 No dog may be entered in both the Novice A and Novice B Class at any one trial. 10.3 Novice C 10.3.1 The Novice C Class shall be for any dog of any recognized or listed breed, mixed breed or unrecognized breed that has earned the title C.D. or any higher obedience titles. 10.3.2 Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. 10.3.3 A person may enter more than one dog in this class. 10.3.4 The same handler must handle each dog in all 6 exercises unless he has 2 or more dogs entered. In such cases, he must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the Group Exercises. 10.3.5 Dogs may compete in the Novice C class indefinitely. 10.3.6 Scores earned by dogs entered in the Novice C Class are not eligible for High In Trial and do not qualify a dog for any title. 10.3.7 Dogs may be entered the Novice C Class in addition to any other official or unofficial classes for which they are eligible. 11.1 Novice Intermediate 11.1.1 The Novice Intermediate Class is an elective class and earning the title is not a requirement to enter the Open Classes. 11.1.2 The Novice Intermediate Class shall be for any dog of any recognized or listed breed, mixed breed or unrecognized breed that has earned a C.D. or any higher obedience trial titles. 11.1.3 Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. 11.1.4 A person may enter more than one dog in this class. 11.1.5 The same handler must handle each dog in all 6 exercises. 11.1.6 Dogs may compete in the Novice Intermediate class indefinitely. 11.1.7 Scores earned by dogs competing in this class are not eligible for High in Trial. 11.1.8 Dogs may be entered in the Novice Intermediate Class in addition to any other official or unofficial classes for which they are eligible. 12.1 Open A 12.1.1 The Open A Class shall be for any dog of any recognized or listed breed, mixed breed or unrecognized breed which has earned the title of C.D. but has not earned the title of C.D.X. 12.1.2 The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner or a member of their immediate families. 12.1.3 Only one dog per handler is allowed in this class, and that person must handle the dog in all exercises. 12.1.4 Any person who has trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a U.D. title may not handle a dog in this class. 12.1.5 When a dog is wrongfully entered in this class, any score awarded will be cancelled. 17

Official Obedience Classes 12.2 Open B 12.2.1 The Open B Class shall be for any dog of any recognized or listed breed, mixed breed or unrecognized breed which has earned the title of C.D. 12.2.2 Dogs which have earned the title of C.D.X. or any higher obedience titles may enter in the Open B Class. A dog may also be entered in the Utility Class in the same trial. 12.2.3 Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. 12.2.4 A person may enter or handle more than one dog in this class. 12.2.5 The same handler must handle each dog in all 7 exercises unless he has 2 or more dogs entered. In such case, he must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the group exercises. 12.2.6 No dog may be entered in both the Open A and Open B classes at any one trial. 12.2.7 Prior to the start of judging, the judge will choose which of the six numbered routines is to be performed. This choice will not be disclosed to exhibitors until it is posted at ring side at least 30 minutes before the start of the class. In such case, he must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the Group Exercises. 16.2.5 The Graduate Novice Heel on Leash and Stand for Examination Exercises shall be performed and judged as in the official Novice Class. All other exercises shall be performed and judged as in the official Open Class. 16.3 Graduate Open Class 16.3.1 The Graduate Open Class is open to any dog that has not earned a qualifying score toward the U.D. title, but which has obtained the title of C.D.X. prior to the closing date of the trial in which it is to be entered. 16.3.2 The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. 16.3.3 A person may enter more than one dog in this class. 16.3.4 The same handler must handle each dog in all 6 exercises unless he has 2 or more dogs entered. In such case, he must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the Long Sit. 16.4 Versatility Class 16.4.1 The Versatility Class is open to any dog that has attained the title of C.D.X. and at least 1 qualifying score towards the Utility title, prior to the closing date of the trial in which it is to be entered. 16.4.2 The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. 16.4.3 A person may enter more than one dog in this class. 16.4.4 These exercises will be performed and judged as specified for the Novice, Open and Utility Classes. 16.4.5 The exercises to be performed by each dog will be determined by the handler s drawing 1 of a set of 4 cards listing a combination of 6 exercises after the handler has entered the ring. 16.4.6 Each handler must provide a dumbbell, scent discrimination articles and seek back glove. 18

Unofficial Obedience Classes 16.5 Wild Card Classes 16.5.1. No title is required for entry in any Wild Card class, but any dog entered must be capable of performing the exercises required at the class level in which it is entered. 16.5.2 The owner or any other person may handle dogs in these classes. 16.5.3 A person may enter more than one dog in any of these classes. 16.5.4 Handlers may use verbal encouragement and praise during exercises in these classes without penalty. Handlers may also use additional commands, but will be penalized accordingly. 16.5.5 The Wild Card option: A handler may choose to perform all exercises in a class, in which case all will be scored, or a handler may choose to skip one exercise and receive full credit for that exercise.the handler must inform the judge which exercise will be skipped before beginning the exercises. If an exercise is chosen to be skipped, it may not be performed. (E.g., a handler may choose to omit the Stand for Examination in Novice, the Long Down in Open, or the Directed Jumping in Utility, and receive a perfect score for the exercise.) 16.5.6 Wild Card Novice Class. Any dog that is capable of performing the Novice Class exercises may be entered in the Wild Card Novice Class, which will be performed and judged as the regular Novice Class. 16.5.7 Wild Card Open Class. Any dog that is capable of performing the Open Class exercises may be entered in the Wild Card Open Class, which will be performed and judged as the regular Open A Class. 16.5.8 Wild Card Utility Class. Any dog that is capable of performing the Utility Class exercises may be entered in the Wild Card Utility Class, which will be performed and judged as the regular Utility A Class. Handlers are permitted to encourage and praise their dogs verbally during the performance of all Utility exercises except the signal exercise. 16.6 Brace Class 16.6.1 The Brace Class is open to any 2 dogs that have earned the title of C.D. or higher. 16.6.2 It is not necessary that the same person owns both dogs, nor that they be the same breed, except when entered in a breed specialty obedience trial. 16.6.3 The owner or any other person may handle a brace in this class. 16.6.4 A person may enter more than one brace in this class. 16.5.5 The same handler must handle each brace in all 6 exercises unless he has 2 or more braces entered. In such case, he must have an additional handler for each extra brace when they are judged together in the Group Exercises. 16.6.6 The Brace Class is performed and judged in the same manner as the Novice Class. The 2 dogs shall be hitched together with a brace chain or coupling and are judged on the performance of the 2 dogs as though they were one. 16.7 Team Class 16.7.1 The Team Class is open to any 4 dogs that have earned the title of C.D. or higher. It is not necessary that the same person own all dogs in the team or that they be of the same breed, except when entered in a breed specialty obedience trial. 16.7.2 Five dogs may be entered, one to be considered as an alternate. However, the same 4 dogs must compete in all exercises. 16.8 Veterans Class 16.8.1 The Veterans Class shall be for any dog that has earned the title of C.D. or higher and is 7 years old or older on the day of the trial. 16.8.2 The exercises shall be performed and judged as in the Novice Classes. 16.8.3 The owner or any other person may handle a dog in this class. 16.8.4 A person may enter more than one dog in this class. 16.8.5 The same handler must handle each dog in all 6 exercises unless he has 2 or more dogs entered. In such case, he must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the Group Exercises. 19
