TRANSFERS by Junior Handlers from Novice to Open Class or from the Open to Master Class MUST be made to the Superintendent/ Show Secretary at least one half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show. SUBSTITUTIONS of Junior Showmanship dogs must be made at least one half hour prior to the judging of any Junior Showmanship classes at the show. AKC Sanctioned 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy Competition One combined class will be offered for breeds and varieties of dogs that are (4) four months & under (6) six months and divided into Groups as described in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows and the Miscellaneous Class breeds as listed in Chapter 3, Section 23. There will be a selection of Best 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy in each Breed/Variety, each Best 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy in Breed/Variety winner will then compete in their respective group for First through Fourth Placements. The Miscellaneous Class Competition will be judged same as above followed by a Miscellaneous 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy Group Competition. The Foundation Stock Service Class Competition will be judged same as above followed by a FSS 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy Group Competition. All First Place Group Winners will be eligible to compete in Best 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy in Show. An AKC registration number or AKC litter number will be required for entries of an AKC recognized breed or Miscellaneous breed. FSS number or FSS registered litter number will be required for FSS entries. A foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. Dogs are required to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian's protocol in order to avoid inadvertent transmission of illness by/to puppies not yet fully immunized. Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers' organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not be exhibited by current assistants or household members of a professional handler. A current assistant is defined as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time basis, or, assisting a professional handler at the show or any show during the cluster/weekend. AKC Rules in Dealing with Misconduct will be applicable to any person and dog entered at this competition. All applicable rules found in Rules Applying to Dog Shows will govern the conduct of this competition unless these regulations state otherwise. Exhibitors should plan on opening the mouth of their puppy for the judges. Breed standard disqualifications such as color, height, weight or dentition shall not be a point of consideration in the judging process for this 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy in Show Competition. NO PUPPIES UNDER THE AGE OF SIX (6) MONTHS, EXCEPT THOSE PARTICIPATING IN THE 4-6 MONTH PUPPY COMPETITION, MAY BE ON THE GROUNDS. A judge requesting the use of a ramp must give notice to the show superintendent/show secretary prior to judging. AKC approval is not required. The entire entry in a breed is to be examined in the same manner (ground, table, or ramp). At the discretion of the judge, the following breeds may be judged on the ground or on a ramp through all levels of competition including Group and Best in Show judging: Lagotti Romagnoli, American Water Spaniels, Clumber Spaniels, English Springer Spaniels, Field Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniels, Cirnechi dell'etna, American Staffordshire Terriers, Irish Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Finnish Spitz, Keeshonden, Finnish Lapphunds, Norwegian Buhunds, Polish Lowland Sheepdogs, Spanish Water Dogs, and Norrbottenspets (Misc.). At the discretion of the judge through all levels of competition including Group and Best in Show judging, the following breeds may be judged on the ground, a ramp, or on a table: Boykin Spaniels and Whippets. The following breeds must be judged on a ramp through all levels of conformation competition: Sussex Spaniels, Basset Hounds, Bulldogs, Chinese Shar-Pei and Chow Chows. This extends to all conformation competition at AKC conformation dog shows and any AKC event where a conformation title may be earned. This policy includes Group, BIS, Junior Showmanship, the 4 6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition, the AKC National Owner-Handled Series (NOHS), and all other special attractions that offer Group and BIS competitions. Ramps can be used in emergency situations to judge any breed. In an emergency situation, where use of a ramp is not indicated in the premium list, an exhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund. For the judging of juniors the ramp may be used at the discretion of the judge for the ramp optional breeds. NO PRACTICING ALLOWED IN RINGS AT ANY TIME. Dogs May Arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. Judges Will Not Wait for Any Dog Holding Up a Class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called to be judged. All Dogs Present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the exercising ring. No gasoline or diesel generators are permitted inside any building or within 100 feet of any tent in which this dog show is conducted. As specified in Chapter 12, Section 4 of the AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows, information contained on the entry form is required to be published in the club s show catalog. This information is also subject to publication in other media. Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the event's Show Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil disturbances, national emergencies, health emergencies, and the dictates of law enforcement or of the owner(s) of the grounds and/or facilities or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to, snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including, but not limited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of entry fee will be made. Exhibitors Notice No cell phones in rings. No firearms of any kind in show buildings. The show-giving club, the property owners, the show superintendent, their agents, employees, etc. assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers or to any of their dogs or property and further assume no responsibility for injury to children not under the control of their parents or guardians. Parents will be held responsible for the actions of their children. Misconduct at hotels will result in an Event Committee Hearing. Exhibitors and handlers will be responsible for clean conditions in and around their crates and the grounds. FAILURE TO LEAVE THESE GROUNDS CLEAN WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF OUR EVENT SITE. Everyone will be responsible for his/ her own trash AND DOG HAIR. The grounds will be left in good condition. Bring your own chairs. Seating not provided. The show location will be available Friday at 12:00 Noon. Food available on grounds. Admission Each Day - $5.00 per car & spectator; $3.00 exhibitors per car - per day or $5.00 for both days. RV Overnight Parking Fee will be $40.00 each night for motor home/trailer with hookups & electric available. Reserved RV Parking Available with RV 30 amp hookups with water, dump station & showers on grounds. There will be assigned Parking Areas for Trailers and Motor Homes. Baby strollers are not allowed in the show building. Two Day Catalogs will be $8.00 at the gate and the door. All persons attending these dog shows hereby waive any claim for damages against the Shenandoah Valley Kennel Club or its members in the event a motor vehicle must be entered to rescue a dog from overheating or suffocation due to improper ventilation. The Club and its Superintendent caution all persons entering the show site and show grounds against all hazards which may exist, including, but not limited to: Condition of the site/grounds, parking/loading/unloading areas, entrances, floors and stairways, elevators and escalators, floor coverings, walkways, tenting/canopies, electrical appliances, cords and fittings, exercise pens, and the presence of animals. All persons should take into consideration this is a sporting event and dress, act and exercise caution appropriate for the activity involved. All persons entering the show, the grounds, site and show areas for whatever purpose do so entirely at their own risk.
