Eligibility [See Chapter 1, Section 3 of the Herding Regulations]: These events are open to all registered Herding Group Dogs, Herding Breeds eligible to compete in the conformation Miscellaneous class, Samoyeds, Rottweilers, and dogs of those breeds with ILP numbers. Standard and Giant Schnauzers registered with AKC or with an ILP number are eligible to participate in herding tests. In addition, Pyrenean Shepherds, Swedish Vallhunds and Norwegian Buhunds recorded with the Foundation Stock Service or granted an ILP number may participate in herding tests. All dogs competing must be at least 9 months of age. Entries For Exhibition Only will not be accepted. Alternates List: Entries received after the numerical limits have been reached but prior to closing will be placed on an alternates list. If you DO NOT wish to be on the alternates list, please enclose a signed statement to that effect with your entry. The alternates list will be used to fill vacancies in the drawn running order, with the first available alternate entry replacing the first vacancy in the class entered. Per Chapter 1, Section 13 of the Herding Regulations, In tests and for move-ups from a test class to a trial class, alternate entries shall be given priority over dogs that are eligible to be moved-up. Within the trial classes, requests to move-up shall be given priority over alternate entries. Alternates will be permitted to run if there is an absentee in an earlier class (provided the alternate s class has not begun) which was not filled on the same course, same type of livestock and under the same Judge, or if a dog has been marked absent with the Event Secretary prior to the beginning of the alternate s class. Entry fees will be refunded for alternates whose dogs do not run. Bitches in season are permitted to run. They will be placed at the end of the running order in test classes and run in catalog order in trial classes. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. ENTRY FEES Herding Test classes: $35.00 per entry per day Herding Trial classes - Sheep or Ducks: $35.00 per entry per day Herding Trial classes - Cattle: $40.00 per entry per day

Veterinarian On Call: Animal Emergency Clinic of Central Virginia 1000 Miller Park Square, Lynchburg, VA 24501 (434) 846-1504 STOCK Ducks will be call ducks and crosses. Five ducks per run test and trial classes. Sheep will be mostly katahdins and katahdin crosses. 3-5 sheep per run test and trial classes. Cattle will be holstein, angus and holstein/angus crosses. 3-5 head per run. No dog may be entered in two classes on the same course with the same kind of stock under the same judge at any trial. A medication fee of $20, or the Veterinarian s bill, or the cost of the animal will be charged to the owner of any dog causing damage to livestock, whether such damage is caused directly or indirectly by the dog. Please read the agreement on the back of the entry form. Ducks are valued at $20 each. Sheep are valued at $150 each. Cattle are valued at $400 each. Breezy Hill Farm furnishes sheep and cattle. Annabel Maley furnishes ducks. When not competing, dogs must be confined or held on leash and kept away from the livestock. The Dog Owners Training Club of Lynchburg and the owners of Breezy Hill Farm assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers or spectators, or by any of their dogs or property. Children must be kept under the control of their parents or guardians at all times and must be kept away from all farm equipment and livestock. No unauthorized persons or dogs allowed in barn or house. Wading pools will be available for your dogs. Lunch will be available for purchase at the trial site both days. Prepaid Catalogs Prepaid catalogs may be ordered by checking the box on the entry form and including payment of $2.00 per catalog with your entry fees. A limited number of additional catalogs will be available on the trial weekend at a cost of $3.00 each. Entries received prior to this time will be returned. NO HAND DELIVERED ENTRIES. Email will be used as a primary means of communication if an email address is listed on the entry form unless entrant requests otherwise. Entries not on official AKC entry forms or photocopies of entry forms without the Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the official AKC entry form are not acceptable. Telegraph, telephone, fax, email, incomplete or unsigned entries cannot be accepted. All entry fees payable in US funds. Entries without full fees will not be accepted. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry. The Secretary will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitor may result in the maker s entries being accepted on a CASH ONLY basis Errors on Entry Blanks: Owners are responsible for errors in filling out entry forms, whoever may make such errors. No entry fee will be refunded in case of any such errors after the closing date. ENTRIES CLOSE Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. Acknowledgement of entries will be made as soon as practicable. Declination of entries: DOTC may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness, or other cause, and no one shall have recourse against DOTC, any official thereof, or any judge. Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by a Veterinarian, Judge, or Tester, or barred from competition by action of the Test/Trial Committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the organizing committee, it is impossible to open or complete the test/trial, no refund of entry will be made. Extreme weather conditions, including, but not limited to, snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme temperatures, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, livestock, exhibitors, judges and spectators. The well being of dogs, livestock, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance. In the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the test/trial before completion, no refund of entry fee will be made.

Herding Trial (all classes offered, sheep, cattle and ducks) Qualifying dogs will receive a Dark Green three-streamer rosette. Each dog completing requirements for a Herding Championship during the weekend will receive a herding-related trophy. The following herding-themed trophies will be presented on Sunday based on combined scores from the two days of competition. Dog must earn a qualifying score each day and combined scores must be earned on the same type of stock. We ask that you help us to retain these motels for our performance events by doing the following: Clean up after your dog both inside and outside. Bring a sheet to protect the bedspread. Bring your own towels to dry or clean up after your dogs if needed. Place plastic under dog crates to protect the carpet. Keep all dogs left alone in the room crated. Never wash your dog in the sink or tub. Hose your dog down at the farm if needed before returning to the motel. Self-contained camping is available at the site beginning Friday evening. Approximately 3 miles south of Rustburg turn right onto SR 701 East Ferry Road. Farm is approximately 1 mile on right. Turn at sign and park in field. From the West: US 460 East to US 29 South. Turn left onto Virginia 24 at 4 th traffic light. Follow 24 to US 501 in Rustburg. Turn right (south) onto 501 and follow directions above. From the South (Danville): US 29 North to Virginia 24. Turn right (east) on 24 at traffic light. Follow directions from the West. From the South (Durham): US 501 North through Gladys. About 5 miles north of Gladys turn left on SR 701 East Ferry Road. Follow directions from the north. From the East: US 460 West to Virginia 24 at Concord. (Traffic light). Turn left (west) on 24 and follow to Rustburg. Then follow directions from the north.

AGREEMENT I (we) acknowledge that the Rules Applying to Registration and Discipline and the AKC Herding Regulations have been made available to me (us), and that I (we) agree that the club holding this Herding Test or Trial has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog tested or judged and to win prizes, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, its members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. I (we) will pay for any injuries or the replacement value in this event of serious injury to the livestock caused by my (our) dog. I (we) agree that determination of whether the injury is serious shall be made by the event veterinarian and is binding on me (us). Additionally, I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify, defend and save the aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties for damage because of bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting therefrom, sustained by any person or persons, including myself (ourselves) or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in this event, however such injuries, death or property damage may be caused, and whether or not the same may have been caused or may be alleged to have been caused by the negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their employees, agents, or any other persons. I (WE) AGREE THAT ANY CAUSE OF ACTION, CONTROVERSY OR CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE ENTRY, EXHIBITION OR ATTENDANCE AT THE EVENT BETWEEN THE AKC AND THE EVENT-GIVING CLUB (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN ITS PREMIUM LIST) AND MYSELF (OURSELVES) OR AS TO THE CONSTRUCTION, INTERPRETATION AND EFFECT OF THIS AGREEMENT SHALL BE SETTLED BY ARBITRATION PURSUANT TO THE APPLICABLE RULES OF THE AMERICAN ARBITRATION ASSOCIATION. HOWEVER, PRIOR TO ARBITRATION ALL APPLICABLE AKC BYLAWS, RULES, REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES MUST FIRST BE FOLLOWED AS SET FORTH IN THE AKC CHARTER AND BYLAWS, RULES, REGULATIONS, PUBLISHED POLICIES AND GUIDELINES. AGREEMENT I (we) acknowledge that the Rules Applying to Registration and Discipline and the AKC Herding Regulations have been made available to me (us), and that I (we) agree that the club holding this Herding Test or Trial has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog tested or judged and to win prizes, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, its members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. I (we) will pay for any injuries or the replacement value in this event of serious injury to the livestock caused by my (our) dog. I (we) agree that determination of whether the injury is serious shall be made by the event veterinarian and is binding on me (us). Additionally, I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify, defend and save the aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties for damage because of bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting therefrom, sustained by any person or persons, including myself (ourselves) or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in this event, however such injuries, death or property damage may be caused, and whether or not the same may have been caused or may be alleged to have been caused by the negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their employees, agents, or any other persons.
