Baby Steps Through the PUNNETT SQUARE

April 7, Aims: Agenda. SWBAT explain how most traits are inherited.

Transcription:

Procedure: Using Reference Tables 1 and 2, as well as the internet (if necessary), complete the Character Traits Chart for each of the Sesame Street Characters! **25 Points** Answer the 10 Questions! **10 Points** Choose two Sesame Street characters from which you d like to see traits passed on. Remember- this activity is hypothetical. Complete the Parent 1 and Parent 2 charts. **5 Points Each** Complete the Punnett Squares for each trait. **4 Points Each totaling 20 Points** Be sure to label each square with the trait and each character used. Choose the traits of the offspring by flipping a coin twice for EACH TRAIT! Pay attention to the side and order in which the coin lands, and circle the appropriate offspring genotypes based on the locations below! Heads then Heads: Top Left Box Heads then Tails: Top Right Box Tails then Heads: Bottom Left Box Tails then Tails: Bottom Right Box Complete the Offspring Chart based on what was circled in the Punnett Squares. Be sure to come up with an appropriate name for the offspring. **10 Points** To determine gender, complete a Punnett Square, and flip a coin the same as above! **5Points** Create a full color drawing of the offspring character, complete with the character s name as well as the parents names! **20 Points** **100 Points Total**
