Coco (13) Gender: Female Age: 2 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Medium Unknown Phoenix Cisco or Claudia Phone: 623-249-6395 Additional Information: Hi! My name is Coco, and I m one of the 3 sugar babies. You may have already read about us on Facebook We are quite popular! My two sisters (Bon Bon and Bell) and I are only 2 years old, but we have been on quite a journey already! We used to live outside and got really skinny. The man we used to live with finally took us to a vet who told him we have diabetes. He said he couldn t take care of us anymore and asked the vet to put us down. Luckily the vet s receptionist contacted DLRR who took us in! Yep, turned out they saved us and we are super thankful! All 3 of us need insulin shots, just like humans with diabetes do. My foster parents didn t have a clue how to do it, but learned quite quickly. It s all doable if you love someone It would be great if all three of us could stay together, but I understand that might be difficult. Maybe I could stay with Bell, because I really like to cuddle with her! Bell is already blind, and I m unfortunately on my way there because my diabetes wasn t taken care of in time. Although my vision is better than Bell s and am not completely blind, it makes me sad sometimes. But, good news! Bell and I have seen this doctor who thinks he can do eye surgery so that we can see again. It s not cheap, so DLRR is taking donations to help. Chances are REALLY good though that I can see again and live a happy life. I would really love that because I ve had it especially rough. You see, I also have valley fever, so it s taking more time for me to gain weight and get healthy. But I feel like I m in good care now, and I know they are doing the best they can to help me. You should also know that I m housebroken, love kids and really like my crate too! I m super thankful to our foster family, and try to tell them any chance I get by kissing their hands. Then they pet and kiss me and tell me what a good and sweet girl I am! I love it when they do that Do you want some kisses from me too? 16 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Bon Bon Gender: Female Age: 2 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Medium Unknown Phoenix Cisco or Claudia Phone: 623-249-6395 Additional Information: Hi! My name is BonBon, and I m one of the 3 sugar babies. You may have already read about us on Facebook Apparently we are quite popular! My two sisters (Coco and Bell) and I are only 2 years old, but we have been on quite a journey already! We used to live outside and got really skinny. The man we used to live with finally took us to a vet who told him we have diabetes. He said he couldn t take care of us anymore and asked the vet to put us down! Luckily the vet s receptionist contacted DLRR who took us in! Yep, turned out they saved us and we are so thankful! All 3 of us need insulin shots, just like humans with Type 1 diabetes do. My foster parents didn t have a clue how to do it, but learned quite quickly. It s all doable if you love someone What else is there to know about me? I am a super cute girl. I love to sunbathe and chase birds, but one of my favorite things to do is cuddle, I just LOVE it! My foster parents have no choice but to love to cuddle with me too because I just drop into their laps when they sit next to me. Plus my coat is sooooo soft... And my face!!! I tell ya no one can resist me! I also like to play with other dogs, because it s fun! I do like being with my sisters, but I have a feeling I d be ok on my own too. I m a big girl after all Since I do like other dogs, I d love to have a playmate though. Kids love me too and I love them as well; as long as I get belly rubs I m housebroken and really good in a crate. What do you say? Want to meet me? 17 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Sammy (8) Gender: Male Age: 2 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: 83 lbs. Medium Unknown Tucson Cristan Phone: 520-444-0408 Additional Information: Hi! I'm Sammy a 2 year old yellow lab that was picked up by DLRR due to wounds. I'm a big boy, 83 pounds, but so far I've been a total love. I'm housebroken but REALLY interested in what's on the counter although my favorite thing is to watch my foster mom chase me around the house after I've spread toilet paper all around! I like my foster brothers and sister but what I really want is to be pet all the time. My foster family doesn't have cats--so I'm not sure about them but so far I haven't met an animal I didn't like. I am a master of the doggy door and don't hesitate to use it. I am recovering from a skin infection and ear infection so my fur has been shaved so my pictures don't really do me justice--when I decide to hold still and let my foster mom take one (which as you can see is not often!) My skin issue might be due to allergies--i'm still deciding what makes me more comfortable but I will try and give my foster mom a before and after picture so my forever family can see what happened to me. I am from Nogales so I have Heartworm Disease but the great people at DLRR are treating me for it. I would be an EXCELLENT addition to any household--especially one that would take me on walks...or hiking...or on a vacation...or sneak me treats...or spoil me rotten. 18 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Hershey (15) Gender: Female Age: 11.5 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: 86 lbs. Low-Medium Unknown See notes Unknown Phoenix Britt Phone: 602-524-9128 Addional Informaon: OH MY GOSH I LOVE YOU!!! I might be a "senior" but with my super cool meds (Tramadol and Rimadyl) I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE being an active sweetheart! Walks? MY FAVORITE! Toys? MY FAVORITE! Toys that squeak? MY FAVORITE! Love and pets? MY FAVORITE! Food? MY FAVORITE! Soft comfy beds? MY FAVORITE! You?? MY FAVORITE! Sorry, I got distracted for a second! My foster mama says I'm her favorite Hershey's kiss, her little mochachino. I think that's good? I am SO loving and SO fun and SO happy to be with you! I don't require a ton of exercise, but did you see that I LOVE my walks?? I'm a very faithful companion and will take alllllll the loves you can give, but when you're done, I'm happy to go snooze on a bed not too far away from you! I'm perfect in the house (if you don't mind picking up the remains of toys that I enjoy destroying!) and I am an expert at that doggie door thing! I take my food last (do I really have to wait for my foster brother and sister to eat first?) and I don't get territorial with food. I do LOVE my toys, so if you have another doggie, I'm going to try to play with him or her and I might decide they CAN'T play with my toys, As long as I have boundaries and a safe place to call my own I'm perfect! My foster mama has a crate with a super cushy bed for me if I want to go into "my" room, but I really don't go in there anymore because I LOVE being with my family! So who is perfect for me? A lower energy home with a mama and/or daddy who can appreciate that I love to play and walk, but that I do have my limits. I need to meet any other doggies and I might have a transition/adjustment period figuring out where I fit in, but once I do, I'm PERFECT! Actually, I'm perfect just the way I am! I do take medicine with each meal - some little pink thing for my thyroid and that awesome Rimadyl and Tramadol to keep me active! Can I meet you and give you super sweet kisses? 19 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Princess (9) Gender: Female Age: 7 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: 38 lbs. Medium-High Phoenix Michelle Phone: 602-432-4038 Addional Informaon: Hello... I am Princess, a six year old chocolate lab mix and I am looking for an active family, preferably with children because I love to play with them. I have been with my foster family for a couple weeks and they say I am very "busy." I do settle down, especially if there is a tennis ball to chew on! I often sit in front of them and then lay my head in their laps. I mind pretty well and cannot get enough of your attention, I love to play! My foster mom throws the ball for me every morning and I always bring it back to her. Other than being a little underweight (38 pounds), I am very healthy. They say I have a problem with my pancreas, but all it requires is some special food ($70 for a big bag) and some powdered stuff you put into my food. I love taking walks and would be a good companion on a run. My tail was cropped as a puppy but I'm not sure why. That doesn't change my beauty one bit. I love to play with my older foster brother, but sometimes I forget my boundaries and sleep halfway on him. He doesn't seem to mind. I found the kitties my foster mom has and have learned that they are not to be messed with. I'm still curious about them but mostly leave them alone-they do have sharp claws! I do love to eat but am not allowed to have too many treats. However, you will find me in your kitchen wanting to help you when you cook. I LOVE being with my people. My birthday was March 17th so if you want to meet me and keep me, we can have a big celebration of my seventh birthday. I look forward to meeting you soon! 20 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Finn (3) Gender: Age: Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Male 15 months 64 lbs. Medium-High (older) No Tucson Lisa Phone: 702-469-1317 Addional Informaon: Everybody loves chocolate! Well Finn is a lovable hunk of Chocolate. This sweetheart is 15 months old and 64 lbs., potty trained, crate trained, loves children (older), he does need a proper intro to other dogs since he likes to bark and show his manliness off. Right now he has a foster brother and they love playing together, tug-a-war, and tag. He does not like cats at all, he was turned over by his last owners(2nd) since he did not like the cats which he had only been at that home for 5 days. Finn needs a stable home who will work on leash manners and good manners in general. Finn has a few bad ones he likes to hump pillows and other dogs, his foster brother does not appreciate it very much. Finn has to have an elevated food bowl to eat and only small kibbles soaked in hot water. He eats too fast and it upsets his tummy. Right now he is on The Honest Kitchen Thrive (dehydrated food and hot water) and he does really well on it. He loves to be close to his people; first night in foster care he climbed right under the computer desk I was working at and snuggled down for a nap. 21 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Reggie (6) Gender: Age: Male 8 1/2 months Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Medium Tucson Christie Phone: 520-304-3326 Addional Informaon: Reggie is an almost 9 month old purebred dark chocolate male who was purchased from a breeder and tearfully surrendered by his owners who loved him dearly. He is a beautiful combination of English and American lines and was born on July 4, 2016. Reggie has been diagnosed with mild congenital mega esophagus. His medical condition requires him to eat in a special chair designed to keep him in an upright position in order for his food to successfully reach his stomach and not be regurgitated back up. He also needs to drink water on a step stool that allows his front paws to be elevated, so the water can reach his stomach. He will need to eat a specific high quality kibble called Nature's Logic mixed with a half of a can of a high quality wet food. He will need to be spoon fed and remain in his chair for 15 minutes after he eats. He eats after his exercise in the morning and later in the evening after exercise and when his day is done. This diet has been tremendously successful for this sweet, deserving boy who aims to please. He doesn't regurgitate any more on this plan and will need a dedicated family who will religiously follow this protocol to ensure his health and happiness. He also has to be watched as he cannot eat grass, plants, sticks or human snacks that might be left around as these will cause him to regurgitate these items up. He is really coming along nicely with the LEAVE IT command but will need continued and consistent training. He is more submissive in nature and does excellent with the two young children in the house, as well as, the senior lab and small dog. He also does great with all dogs and even cats. He is extremely athletic and loves to go for daily walks and loves water. His energy is moderate and he has great house manners as long as he is exercised. He crates quietly but can be left uncrated for 2-3 hours without problem. He knows sit, down, leave it and is learning to sit by the door when it opens. He rides quietly in the car in a travel crate. He is learning leash manners but will need training in this department as he pulls and gets excited to see dogs on our walks. He is very strong. He sleeps quietly on a dog bed at night but snuggles in our bed for 15 minutes every morning before the alarm goes off. He is a huge lover!! He is also fully housebroken and has not had an accident in our house and has a very compliant nature. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this incredible boy. If you feel you can consistently meet his special needs, you will be blessed with a true companion and loving addition to your family. We just love him to pieces!!! 22 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Simon (5) Gender: Age: Male 10 months Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: High (puppy) Unknown Unknown Phoenix Michelle Phone: 480-905-8421 Addional Informaon: Simon is a big goof of a male puppy. He has quite an energy level that requires both mental and physical exercise. In his past, he has exhibited entirely too much excitement over tennis balls which landed him in trouble with nipping his owners. This is unacceptable behavior and he is learning that will not be tolerated. He should have a home that will continue to enforce the rules and boundaries to set this boy up for success. He plays beautifully with other dogs, has learned kennel manners, threshold manners and he is a champion on the treadmill. He is minutes away from learning how to swim! He knows a few basic obedience commands and tries hard to please his people. Continued training would serve to set this boy up for a perfect future. If you're looking for an enthusiastic dog to complement your household, this is your boy! Please call for more information on how you can adopt Simon. 23 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

DLRR Black Pearls DLRR is committed to saving the lives of Labrador Retrievers, but perhaps these black dogs are the ones who need us most because they simply do not get noticed. According to the President of the Los Angeles SPCA, black dogs are: the hardest to adopt out, they are in shelters the longest and therefore, they are most likely to be euthanized if nothing happens. This unfortunate phenomenon has a name: Black Dog Syndrome. If you are thinking about adopting a dog, please don t overlook black dogs, they are just as loving and wonderful as lighter colored dogs! Wouldn t that be cool?!?! Oh, how I d love to be able to see again and not bump into stuff and be able to goof around. I do manage pretty well, even being blind, but I do remember what it was like when I was able to see, and it was pretty neat! I miss it Of course I m housebroken and I am really good in the crate. I actually kinda like it! My foster family always tells me I m so lovable and such a pretty girl. I can t see myself in the mirror, but I hope they are right. Noey as we call her will climb in lap scrunch and contort her body just to sit with you. She is a true velcro dog. She wants to be with you at all times. Noey will follow you anywhere that s how much she loves people. We have been working on the personal space issue with her. Usually I can get her to sit next to me by patting the chair next to the one I'm sitting in and tell her settle then she will sit in the chair and stare at me with her longing eyes. It s very hard to resist her when she turns those soulful eyes on you. Noey is heartworm positive, on medication but the good news it was caught in the early stages. Noey is fine in a crate, doggie door trained and house broke, great with kids, and other dogs. She hasn t met any cats. She is still working on leash manners. For being a compact little girl she is strong she pulls on her leash. She is a high energy girl. 26 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Dannie Gender: Male Age: 10 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: 72 lbs. Low Tucson Jennifer Phone: 520-891-2069 Addional Informaon: Hi! I'm Dannie a 10 year old black lab mix who was given to the great people at DLRR because my owner was sick in the hospital and couldn't take care of me. I'm a big boy, weighing about 72 pounds and I have longer fur so will need some grooming. My favorite thing is to lay around outside soaking up the sun or displacing my foster siblings on the dog beds inside. I'm really easy going and have some arthritis so don't move as fast as my foster siblings. My new home will need to keep up with my pain and joint meds. I'm crate trained although I don't need one as I am the perfect gentleman inside the house all day. I don't get on the furniture and I'm happy to lay on my dog beds. I know how to use a dog door too! I'm dog friendly and cat friendly (per my previous owners) I'm really particular about the kind of food I like to eat, so please feed me the Natural Balance brand my foster mom recommends. The people at DLRR were kind enough to have my teeth cleaned so now I'm good to go! If you want a furry cuddly companion, please call my foster mom. 27 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Reggie (5) Gender: Male Age: 6 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: 100 lbs. Medium Some No Phoenix Shelley Phone: 602-350-0066 Addional Informaon: Hi, my name is Reggie5 but most people call me Reggie. I'm a 6 year old handsome black lab, my foster mom says I'm beautiful! I love people and do especially well with kids, even little ones because I don't jump on people. I've done okay with the dogs I have met but my foster mom says I'm more like an alpha dog. I don't do well with cats at all. I'm totally housebroken and know how to use a doggie door. I'm trustworthy in the house, the only things I would get into is food stuff. My foster mom says I'm an expert counter surfer, so you have to keep food put away. But I'm not destructive at all and like soft doggie toys that squeak. I'm very smart, I know "sit", "stay", "down" and will even shake your hand or give you a "high-five" if you ask me. I love to go for walks but since I tend to pull, I do much better with a head halter like a "Gentle Leader" then I don't pull. I'm very comfortable around people, even ones I have never met before. My foster mom thinks I could be trained as a therapy dog since I like being around people. I would prefer a family that is home a lot, who likes walking, hiking or swimming. I'm a little overweight from my treatment for heartworm but now that is cured and I'm back to eating and exercising properly, which will get me back to a good weight. I like to show my affection by rubbing my head up against you, I'm not into the face licking thing! I'm very gentle and loving. If you meet me, you will fall in love! 28 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Jessie (6) Gender: Male Age: 5 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Medium-High Unknown Phoenix Michelle Phone: 480-905-8421 Addional Informaon: Jessie is a sweet male lab mix of energy and enthusiasm. He came from conditions where he received no structure while living in a backyard. He is a dominant male who has learned to play beautifully with the right dog. Because of his upbringing, he is pushy and is still learning what is appropriate play behavior. So far, he has learned to enjoy his kennel, socialize with various other dogs, wait at thresholds, wait calmly for his meals and treats, trust the leash and he even mastered his fear of the sliding door! This is a dog who will thrive with future training and supervision from his new family in order to set him up for a lifetime of happiness and success. He loves humans and wants nothing more than to please us! Please call for more information on how to adopt this sweet boy. 29 March 28, 2017 www.dlrrphoenix.org
