Vaca Valley Stockdog Club September 24 & 25, 2011 Herding Ranch Dog Course 1. Gather (120 feet): The stock are let out of the gate and allowed to settle. HRD I Dog at Cone A. Handler within 15 feet of stock set out. HRD II Dog at Cone B. Handler between Cone A and Cone B. HRD III Handler and Dog at Cone B. All levels Gather and Fetch counterclockwise around Cone B. Scoring ends when sheep have broken the plane between Cone B and Obstacle #1 in the counter clockwise direction. 2. Obstacle #1: Sheep fetch through Obstacle #1 (Cross-drive Panels) to Gate #1. Scoring ends when last sheep has arrived at Gate #1. 3. Gate #1: Fetch through Gate #1 to Hay Bales. Scoring ends when last sheep passes Handlers Line at Hay Bales. 4. Hay Bales: HRD I Fetch through Hay Bales (Handler does not enter obstacle). HRD II Fetch sheep through Hay Bales. Handler stops at Cone C and drives through remaining Hay Bales (60 Feet). HRD III Drive sheep through Hay Bales (120 Feet). Handler remains behind Handlers Line. Scoring ends when last sheep exits Hay Bales. 5. Fetch to Obstacle #2 (Bridge). Handler and sheep must walk on bridge. Fetch Sheep to Gate #1. Scoring ends when last sheep has passed through Gate #1. 6. Collect sheep and fetch to Obstacle #3 (Hold Exam Pen). Pen sheep, open back of pen and let sheep out. Dog should hold sheep near pen while handler closes pen, then fetch to Gate #2. Scoring ends when handler and sheep arrive at Gate #2. 7. Sort: Sort three sheep into Pens at Gate #2. 3 marked sheep for HRD III. At least 1 marked sheep for HRD II. Any three sheep for HRD I. Scoring ends after handler closes Gate #2 after the sorting is complete. 8. Repen: Collect remaining sheep and fetch to Repen gate. Repen sheep. Scoring ends when repen gate is closed. Time allowed 15 minutes. Ties will be broken based on the Sort, then Time.
