4 & Under 6 Months Puppy Competition (Entry Fee Includes $2.00 AKC Event Service Fee Per Entry) 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy... $15.00 The 4 to 6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition is intended to introduce new exhibitors and their puppies to the show world in a stress-free and relaxed environment. It also provides an opportunity for puppies to socialize with people and other dogs at an optimal time of their development. Puppies may earn points towards a Certificate of Merit at these competitions. If you have not already spayed or neutered your puppy or if your puppy has been registered with a Full Registration you are eligible to enter this competition. If your puppy is already spayed or neutered or has been registered with a Limited Registration, you can participate in other exciting AKC events. Additional information can be found in the Sanctioned Four-to-Six Month (Beginner Puppy) Competition Regulations. AKC Sanctioned 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy Competition One combined class, not divided by sex, will be offered for puppies that are at least four (4) months of age but less than six (6) months of age on the date of the competition. A foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed will be chosen. An AKC registration number or AKC litter number is required for entries. Dogs are required to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian's protocol in order to avoid inadvertent transmission of illness by/to puppies not yet fully immunized. Dogs that are owned or coowned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers' organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not be exhibited by current assistants or household members of a professional handler. A current assistant is defined as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time basis, or, assisting a professional handler at the show or any show during the cluster/weekend. AKC Rules in Dealing with Misconduct will be applicable to any person and dog entered at this competition. All applicable rules found in Rules Applying to Dog Shows will govern the conduct of this competition unless these regulations state otherwise. Exhibitors should plan on opening the mouth of their puppy for the judges. Breed standard disqualifications such as color, height, weight or dentition shall not be a point of consideration in the judging process for this 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy in Show Competition. JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP Novice. Novice. This shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class. A first place in Novice without competition leading to a Best Junior award with competition would count as one win towards moving to Open at a licensed or member show. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition, if a win in Novice leads to a Best Junior with competition present it will count as one win towards moving to Open, after the closing of entries for a show are required to transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class by notifying the Superintendent or Show Secretary at least one-half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show. Open. Open. This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won three first place awards in a Novice Class or if a win in Novice leads to a Best Junior with competition present it will count as one win towards moving to Open in a licensed or member show. Master. This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won 10 Best Junior wins with competition from the Open Class. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibility dates for the AKC National Championship. All Juniors Meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year. NOVICE & OPEN CLASSES DIVIDED THIS SHOW: NOVICE: JR. - 9 TO 12 YEARS, INTER. - 12 TO 15 YEARS, SR. - 15 TO 18 YEARS OPEN: JR. - 9 TO 12 YEARS, INTER. - 12 TO 15 YEARS, SR. - 15 TO 18 YEARS BITCHES IN SEASON ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE. EACH DOG ENTERED MUST BE OF THE BREED FOR WHICH THIS SHOW IS HELD. Junior Handlers must put their Junior Handler s number on the entry blank. Notice: Be sure all information for Junior Showmanship Classes is entered on the front and back of the entry form. By signing the entry form, certification is given that the Junior Showman does not now, and will not at any time, act as an agent/handler for pay while continuing to compete in Junior Showmanship. Each dog handled in a Junior Showmanship Class must be entered in one of the Breed or Obedience Classes at the show, or must be entered for Junior Showmanship only. However, a dog may be substituted. Such substitution must be accompanied by an official AKC entry form. All such substitutions must be made one half-hour prior to the judging of any Junior Showmanship Classes at the show. Each dog must be owned or co -owned by the Junior Handler or by the Junior Handler's father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandfather or grandmother, including step and half relations or by a member of the Junior Handler's household. Every dog entered for Junior Showmanship must be eligible to compete in Dog Shows or in Obedience Trials. BITCHES IN SEASON ARE NOT ELIGIBLE. A dog that has been excused or disqualified by a Breed Judge or by a Bench Show Committee may still be handled in Junior Showmanship if eligible to compete in Obedience Trials. A dog that has been rejected, dismissed, or excused by the Veterinarian for the protection of the other dogs at the show or for the protection of the dog excused may not be handled in Junior Showmanship. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition present after the closing of entries for a show may transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class provided that this transfer is made by the Superintendent at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging or one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show, whichever is earlier. Winning of first place in an Open Class at this show may qualify or count toward qualification for entry in certain future limited Junior Showmanship Classes. For information on eligibility requirements for limited Junior Showmanship Classes which have been approved to date by AKC, go online at www.akc.org. Outside of the ring, the dog is to be controlled by the adult accompanying the child. An additional lead, provided by the Club, will be at the Judge s table. At the Judge s discretion based upon the size of the child and the dog, for safety purposes the adult may be asked to attach a second lead to the dog so both child and adult will walk the dog together. 5

SWEEPSTAKES SWEEPSTAKES RULES The English Cocker Spaniel Club of Southern California Sweepstakes is open to all dogs and bitches six months and under eighteen months of age on the day of the show. All dogs entered in the Sweepstakes must also be entered in a regular class. Entry should to be made at the same time and on the same entry form as for the regular class. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner s records. If, at the end of th e 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by AKC, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by AKC. GRAND CHAMPION SELECT When quality warrants, after Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex are awarded, a Select Dog (SD) and Select Bitch (SB) may be chosen from the remaining Champions (Non Regular Class winners that are Champions and Qualify for BOB are eligible) - (WD or WB are not eligible) (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 3, Section 14, Effective 5-12-10) AWARD OF MERIT To be awarded to English Cocker Spaniels in the Best of Breed Class (other than Best in Specialty, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Specialty), which best exemplify the breed s characteristics. The ECSCSC will offer two Awards of Merit, which will be awarded by the judge prior to judging non-regular multiple dog entry classes. BRED BY EXHIBITOR CLASS ELIGIBILITY All dogs entered in the Bred-By Exhibitor Class must be individually registered with the AKC. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog. Family members must be both a breeder and owner of record to exhibit in the class. Best Bred-By Exhibitor will be selected from the Bred-By-Exhibitor winners following the judging of Best of Breed & Award of Merit Competition. Only dogs not defeated in the Bred-By-Exhibitor Class are eligible to compete. BEST PUPPY CLASS ELIGIBILITY Best Puppy will be selected from the Puppy Class winners (6-9, 9-12) following the judging of Best of Breed & Award of Merit Competition. Only dogs not defeated in a Puppy Class are eligible to compete. NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING SINGLE DOG ENTRIES NOTE: Winners from these classes are eligible, if undefeated in another class for Best of Breed Competition. Veterans Veteran 7years & under 10 years, 10 years & older (classes divided by sex) *Chapter 11, Section 8: of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows provides that a neutered male may be entered as a Veteran Dog in the Veteran Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as a Veteran Bitch in the Veteran Bitch Class. Field Class Dog/Field Class Bitch Open to any English Cocker Spaniel who has earned the ECSCA Working Dog (WD) or Working Dog Excellent (WDX) title or an AKC Field Championship (FC), Hunting Title (JH/SH/MH) or has placed in a stake at an AKC Cocker/English Cocker Spaniel Field Trial. Judging will be on conformation only and the winner of the Field Dog Class and the Field Bitch Class may complete in the Best of Breed Competition if otherwise undefeated in a breed class at the show. NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES NOTE: As the judges' decision in these classes will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won any of these classes. * STUD DOG CLASS - For Stud Dogs and two of their Get. It is not necessary that the Get be under the same ownership as that of the Stud Dog. The Stud Dog may be entered separately in one of the regular classes, or if a Champion of Record, in the Best of Breed Competition, but MUST be entered in the Stud Dog Class. The Get MUST be entered in one of the regular conformation classes or for Best of Breed Competition. No Stud Dog or his Get may be shown as a part of another unit. The Stud Dog shall be considered as one entry and requires one entry fee. The Stud Dog must be shown in the ring with the Get. The class will be judged on the merits of the Get. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC Policy, or the standard for its breed. Stud Dog Class fee is $30 as an original class or $15 as an additional class. * BROOD BITCH CLASS - Same as for the Stud Dog Class except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog and Produce for Get. * Chapter 11, Section 8: of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows provides that a castrated male may be entered as a Stud Dog in the Stud Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as a Brood Bitch in the Brood Bitch Class. * Brace Class - For two English Cocker Spaniels with one common owner. Entry is $15.00 per dog and must be made using two (2) complete entry forms, one for each dog in the brace. 12

NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS 1. Entries must reach the Show Secretary, Doris Bandoian, 1220 N. Richfield Rd., Anaheim, CA 92807-1812, by NOON (PDT), Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Fees should accompany entries. The Club and the Show Secretary assume no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information given on the entry blank by the owner or agent of the owner. The Club and the Show Secretary assume no responsibility for the owner or owner s agent entering a dog in a class in which the dog is not eligible to compete, or for entering the same dog twice. 2. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The CLUB will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks for the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis. The returned check MUST BE MADE GOOD by cash or money order BEFORE the dog will be allowed in the ring. 3. Exhibitors confirmations and judging programs will be mailed to the address given on the entry blank. If not received within a reasonable time prior to the show, notify the Show Secretary. Confirmations returned by the Post Office marked Undeliverable will be held at the Show Secretary s office. PLEASE BRING YOUR CONFIRMATIONS TO THE SHOW. 4. During the hours of judging owners are to be on call, and have their dogs ready to bring into the judging ring promptly in order that judging will not be delayed. Dogs need only be present for their judging. Dogs not needed for further judging may be excused. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to have his dog ready to be shown and at the entrance of the judging ring when the steward calls for the class. Owner of dogs or the handlers of the dogs alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. This means it is not the responsibility of the ring steward, nor of any agent of the show-giving club to locate any dog, it s owner or handler, when the dog s presence is needed in a judging ring. It should be understood by every exhibitor and handler that waiting for dogs to be brought into the ring is a courtesy extended to the owner or handler of the dog. There is no rule of these clubs nor the American Kennel Club that requires a judge to wait for an owner or handler t o bring his dog into the ring. Show hours 8 AM to 6 PM. 5. Trophies and prizes will be awarded in the judging ring by completion of the breed and the show secretaries office advised at once, in the event of any discrepancy. All trophies must be claimed the day of the show. None will be mailed. 6. Exhibitors are admonished to make themselves familiar with the agreement of the American Kennel Club, referred to on the reverse side of the entry blanks that accompany the premium list. Rule books may be obtained onlilne from the A.K.C., www.akc.org. 7. The Club, the Show Secretary or the members or employees will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any dog exhibited, whether the result of accident or other causes and in addition assumes no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by an exhibitor/owner or handler. It is distinctly understood that every dog at this show is in the care and custody and control of his owner or handler/agent during the entire time the dog is on the show premises. 8. No grooming tables, pens or exhibitors setups will be allowed in the aisles and all grooming must be done at least 20 ft. away from the judging ring in areas specified by the club. 9. Entry fees shall NOT be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, excused by veterinarian or judge, barred from competition by action of the Event Committee, or because the dog is ineligible to compete due to being entered incorrectly. There is no refund of entry fees for duplicate entry. 10. Only dogs that are eligible to compete to be allowed on the grounds. 11. The English Cocker Spaniel Club of Southern California, may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or other causes, and no one shall have any claim or recourse against the Club or any official thereof. 12. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry will be made. 13. Do not leave any dogs in closed vehicles. 14. A recording fee of 50 cents per dog and an event service fee of $3.00 per entry will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club Show. These fees are to be collected by the Show-giving Club and paid to the American Kennel Club. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2.) 15. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for the show but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed Competition, provided this transfer is made by the Show Secretary at least one half hour prior to the start of the earliest Confirmation judging at the show. 16. All persons attending this event hereby waive any claim for damages against the Club, or its, members, in the event a motor vehicle has to be entered to rescue a dog from overheating or improperly vented conditions. 17. All vehicles parked in VIP Parking Area without VIP Pass will be ticketed and fined. 18. Parents and/or Guardians are responsible for the actions of their children.
