Winter has arrived in the North Woods, with a vengeance! I hope you are all staying safe and warm. As some of you may have noticed, Lizer Lawn Care is working on clearing the two ditches in front of our property, as well as clearing out the weeds along the fence in our fenced area. They will maintain the ditches and inside the fenced area and remove all the weeds. They will spray them with animal safe weed killer. This should enable Kerry to see any damage to the fence and get a fencing company out to repair it. We will still have to mow the lawn. They will continue to plow and salt the parking lot, but will also shovel and salt the sidewalks in front and in back of the building. These additional services are at no cost to us. Thank you to June Ashford for negotiating these additional services and to Kerry Tesch and Sandy Dunand for going along and presenting a united front to our neighbor. Well done! We are actively looking for a volunteer to fill the position of Director of Training. This could be two or three people if you would rather co-chair the position. Please consider helping in this very important area. Belinda can help explain what is required and may have templates for the different schedules she provides for the web site and the newsletter. Our next Business Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 7 at the Club at 7 p.m. We would like to have a Christmas Get-Together for all members prior to the meeting. The Board will provide sub sandwiches and chips. The Club will provide coffee, soda and water. We ask that you bring a plate of cookies or candy to share with the group. There will be a Christmas Raffle Basket provided by June Ashford valued between $40-$50. At the Business Meeting we will let you know who the Nominating Committee has chosen to run for the open spots on the board. There will also be nominations from the floor that night. I hope you can join us at the next meeting and please come a little early to join in the festivities. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and the Best Holiday Season! PKC Outreach Super Stars Betty & Maddi Haevers When I first rescued Maddi at the age of 6, her previous life experiences required extra understanding when it came to learning how to trust humans. But with plenty of extra love, patience, and lots of treats, Maddi has become a tiny, shining ambassador for outreach work. Over the past 4 years, her sweet, sunny personality has won over so many.! It just proves that little paws leave big paw prints on people's hearts. Thank you Betty & Maddi!

Effective January 1, 2018, Belinda Freeman will no longer be PKC s Director of Training. Belinda has done an amazing job in this role. Thank you, Belinda, for all of your hard work. We are looking for someone to step up and volunteer to take over this position. The Director of Training is responsible for scheduling and organizing Orientations and classes for each session. If you are interesting in filling this important role, please contact Belinda for more information. Her contact information is windchillacres@hughes.net or 715.304.8275. Important Dates in December December 7 ~ Christmas Party, 6 p.m. Business Meeting, 7 p.m. December 24 ~ Christmas Eve December 25 ~ Christmas Day December 31 ~ New Year s Eve PKC Calendar Creator Needed PKC is looking for someone to take over creating the Club calendars. Tammie Scheich has done a great job supplying the calendars but is looking for someone to take over the task for her. Tammie s replacement would be responsible for updating the calendars each month for the Paw Print and the PKC web site, preferably using Microsoft Publisher or another compatible calendar program. If you are willing to take over this duty, please contact any Board member. Thanks for your consideration.

PACKERLAND KENNEL CLUB MERIT AWARD AWARD GUIDELINES To claim a merit award, a title must have been earned between January 1 and December 31, 2017. If you think your dog has finished a title, but haven t received notification, call AKC to verify your points and/or legs to meet the DEADLINE (January 15, 2018). Club policy gives one (1) merit award for an individual dog for each title earned to the owner (co-owners may purchase a duplicate award from PKC if they are members in good standing with the Club). To request an award, the owner of the dog must be a member in good standing (not a trainee) and the dog must live primarily with the club member requesting the award. Only one plaque per dog will be awarded. The owner of the dog must have completed the required volunteer hours during the year or pay a $25.00 fee to PKC. Please submit one Merit Award form per dog regardless of the number of titles earned. Only AKC titles and titles recognized by AKC (accompanied with an AKC title certificate) will be awarded by PKC (including CGC and CGCA). Additional title plates for titles that are awarded by other clubs (other than AKC, including single breed parent clubs) may be purchased by the owner. (For awards other than from AKC, black title plates are $5.20 each and gold plates are $6.50 each.) The dog must earn an AKC title to be awarded the initial awards plaque by PKC. Only one MACH/PACH/PAX award plaque will be awarded per dog. Additional poles will be added to the plaque as the dog accumulates multiple agility championships. No awards will be given retroactively. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS-THIS APPLICATION MUST BE TURNED IN NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE STATED ON THIS FORM!
