So we awoke yesterday morning to find our baby duck decapitated..(luckily I saw it before the kids) so off to the feed store to buy another one for the son. Anyways.. I decided that it was time for me to do something with the coon issue before it gets worse. I talked to the "Bird lady" and she said she has used "Golden Malrin" a fly attractant and killer mixed with Pepsi to kill 40 some coons last year. I picked up a container of it today and plan on locking the cats up tonight and giving it a go. She said the coons like the sweet of the Pepsi and don't even taste the poison... and it works fast.. She said that they would only get about 5 feet away from the dish before they collapsed. Anyone heard of this?? I'm going to try it tonight and since I think the coon is too big to trap it sounds like my only option. I'll let you know how it goes...
If you go to TSC and look in the section where they have insect repellents you will find something called (i think) "fly bait" and it is in little green canisters... mix that stuff and a can of coke and let it sit out where your dog or cat CANNOT get to it. You will find your coon no more than 5' from this stuff the next morning I will call my uncle and ask him exactly what it is. Saw it in action last week...three dead coons no more than a couple of paces from the can. worked better than a 12 gauge The fly bait you re talking about is "Golden Malrin".
