GENERAL RULES GOVERNING THESE SHOWS It is the responsibility of the Exhibitor to be familiar with the rules pertaining to the event in which they are competing. Copies of the Conformation Rule book are available from the CKC, 400 200 Ronson Dr., Etobicoke, ON M9W 5Z9 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. The Club reserves the right to remove any person from the event. The Show Superintendent shall have full control of the above shows and trials, which will be governed by CKC rules. 2. Any dog excused by the Event Superintendent or the Event Veterinarian for any reason shall not, after being excused, compete in any class for any award for the balance of the event. 3. The event committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of accident, or other misfortune, to either dogs, exhibitors or patrons. 4. It shall be the duty and obligation of the event-giving club to see that a judge, club official, show secretary, ring steward, volunteer, or competitor at a event held under CKC Rules shall not be subjected to any indignity of any kind during the progress of the event and it shall be the duty and obligation of the Club holding the event to see that this rule is effectively carried out. The Show Superintendent shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of the rules, and the Discipline Committee shall have the power to take such action as it deems fit on receipt of a report indicating that this rule has been violated. 5. Exhibitors are solely responsible for the conduct or actions of their animals while they are on the event grounds. 6. DOGS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING. The Club will not be responsible for and is not obligated to provide any service for notifying owners or agents of breed or class judging. No ring shall be held up waiting for exhibitors or handlers. Exhibitors & Handlers with more than one dog shall have substitute handlers available so the judging will not be delayed. All start times are PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME. 7. The owner of a dog entered in these events is entirely responsible for any error in entering his/her dog, regardless of how or by whom the entry was made. 8. A dog once disqualified for any reason at a championship show held under these rules cannot again be shown at a show held under these rules until the dog has been examined by an official committee appointed by the CKC and the committee finds the dog is free from the condition which prompted the disqualification. Application for reinstatement must be accompanied by a fee of $50.00 plus GST which shall be forfeited to the CKC if the examining committee is satisfied that the dog should remain disqualified. All awards earned at a dog show in violation of this rule shall be canceled by the CKC and the owner of the dog is subject to disciplinary action. 9. Exhibitors and handlers will be responsible for their dogs and for their equipment left at the event Grounds. 10. For the benefit of the health of animals and the pleasure of the exhibitors and spectators we insist upon keeping our grounds and buildings as clean as possible. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. Please exercise your dog BEFORE taking it to the Judging ring. Dogs are to be exercised in the designated areas only, not in the vicinity of the ring areas. 11. No entry fee will be refunded if the Show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, and Act of God, public emergency, act of public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club. 12. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee.
CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB SCHEDULE OF CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS SECTION 2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: (*Includes the dog awarded Winners.) Dogs Competing* 1 2 3 to 5 6 to 9 10 to 12 13 or more Points Allocated* 0 1 2 3 4 5 To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule set forth above. A dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points. Further section 15.1.12 {C} has been added and states the dog must: have earned at least one 2 point win either at the breed level or group level. The system provides for additional points if a dog awarded winners also places in the Group as listed hereunder. In no case may a dog earn more than five (5) points at a single show. To earn a Canadian Championship, a dog must earn at least ten championship points under at least three different judges; and be individually registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, or have a CKC EVENT REGISTRATION NUMBER (ERN). Grand Champion (GCh) The title of Grand Champion may only be earned after the completion of the CKC Conformation Championship. Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Conformation Championship and do not include the points earned in attaining the Conformation Championship. All required points are to be earned at the breed level. To be awarded a Grand Champion title, a dog must attain a minimum of 20 points which must include one Best of Breed and a minimum of two wins of at least two points each. a) Grand Champion Point System Points towards the Grand Champion title are awarded to the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog and Select Bitch. Points are calculated based on the number of animals competing at the breed level for the Best of Breed Winner and the number of similar sex dogs competing for the other three (Best of Opposite, Select Dog, Select Bitch). The following schedule shall be employed in the determination of points awarded as follows: In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for Grand Champion points. The title of Grand Champion shall not be awarded retroactively and all points towards this title must be achieved after the date of January 1, 2013. Points earned toward the Grand Champion title are to be recorded by the owner/handler on the form obtained from the Canadian Kennel Club. Once the owner/handler believes that their exhibit has attained the requirements for the Grand Champion title, the form may be submitted to the Canadian Kennel Club for verification and awarding of the title. Grand Champion Excellent (GChEx) The title of Grand Champion Excellent may only be earned after the completion of the CKC Grand Championship title. CONFORMATION The following classes will be provided, divided by sex. REGULAR CLASSES JUNIOR PUPPY - 6 months & under 9 months on the day of the show SENIOR PUPPY- 9 months & under 12 months on the day of the show 12-18 MONTH CLASS - for dogs 12 months of age and under 18 months of age on the day of the show CANADIAN BRED - for dogs born in Canada, Champions in any country excluded. BRED BY EXHIBITOR - shall be for dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder. OPEN CLASS - shall be for all Dogs. SPECIALS ONLY - This class will NOT be divided by sex. A dog may be entered for Specials Only and such dog shall compete for Best of Breed award. If eligible it must compete for the award of Best of Opposite Sex. All awards the dog earned at the show will be cancelled if, at the time of closing of entries for the show, the dog was not registered individually in the records of the Canadian Kennel Club or if the dog has not earned all the championship points required for championship status. The entry of a Listed Dog in this class is NOT allowed. EXHIBITION ONLY - Dogs entered in this class may not compete in the regular breed classes. NON-REGULAR CLASSES BABY PUPPY -3 months & under 6 months on the day of the show VETERANS CLASS - In this optional class for All Breed Shows, dogs must be 7 years of age and over on the day of the show. Dogs entered in this class may be spayed or neutered. The awards for this class are: Best Male Veteran and Best Female Veteran Best Veteran in Breed Best Veteran in Group Best Veteran in Show A Veteran awarded Best Veteran in Breed is not required to stay to compete for Best Veteran in Group. A Veteran awarded Best Veteran in Group is not required to stay to compete for Best Veteran in Show. CLASSIFICATION OBEDIENCE NOVICE A - No licensed handler, no trainer, nor any person who has previously exhibited a dog through its U.D. Title in Canada or Elsewhere shall be allowed to compete. When a dog is wrongfully entered in this class, any score awarded will be canceled. NOVICE B - Dogs in this class may be handled or exhibited by the owner or any other person & shall be for pure-bred dogs of any breed which have not won the title of C.D. in Canada OPEN HA - The Open HA class shall be for any dog of any recognized or listed breed, mixed breed or unrecognized breed which has earned the title of C.D. but has not earned the title of C.D.X. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner or member of their immediate families. Only one dog per handler is allowed in this class, and that person must handle the dog in all exercises. Any person who has trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a U.D. title may not handle a dog in this class. Open18A -The requirements are the same as Open HA and the same rules except the Long Sit is replaced with Change of Positions Exercises and the Long Dow is replaced with a Group Sit-Walk around. OPEN HB - The Open HB class shall be for any dog of any recognized or listed breed, mixed breed or unrecognized breed which has earned the title of C.D. Dogs which have earned the title of C.D.X. or any higher titles may enter in the. Open 18B The requirements are the same as Open HB and the same rules except the addition of the new Change of Positions Exercises. UTILITY A For any purebred dog that has not earned the title of UD. No person who has earned a MOTCH title may handle dogs in this class. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner or a member of their immediate families. Exercises will be performed in the usual order. UTILITY B Exercises will be done in random order. Order will be posted approximately 30 minutes prior to judging. PRE-NOVICE shall be for any dog which has not earned the title of P.C.D. (Pre-Companion Dog) in Canada. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. NOVICE C as Obedience Trial Rules & Regulation INTERMEDIATE NOVICE - as Obedience Trial Rules & Regulation
Change to Obedience Rules & Regulations: Open Class (Effective January 1, 2018) There are changes to the Obedience Trial Rules effective January 1, 2018. However, we want to provide advanced notice regarding the change to the Open Class A & B. Exhibitors will now have options within the Open A and B classes and still achieve the same titles. The Open A Class and the Open B Class will each have 2 options. Exhibitors must indicate on the entry form which option they choose when they complete their entry form. In Open A, exhibitors can choose between entering into Open HA (which remain as in the existing rules as Open A), or Open 18A (which also follows the existing rules except that the Long Sit is replaced with Change of Positions Exercises, and the Long Down is replaced with a Group Sit-Walk around.) In Open B, the exhibitor can choose between entering into Option HB (which remain as in the existing rules as Open B), or Option 18B (which adds in the new Change of Position Exercises). Rally Obedience Classes Rally Ring size will be 50 x 60 The precincts of these trials are the ring and immediate area surrounding Only dogs entered are permitted within the precincts of the trial. Order of judging will be determined at the close of entries. The following classes will be offered in each Rally Obedience trial: Rally Novice A, Rally Novice B, Rally Intermediate, Rally Advanced A, Rally Advanced, B, Rally Excellent A, Rally Excellent B. RALLY NOVICE A: Dogs competing in this class may not have earned the R. N. title or any CKC Obedience title other than P.C.D. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC C.D.X. title shall be eligible to enter this class. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or a member of their immediate families. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. All exercises are judged on leash, and all dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. RALLY NOVICE B: Any dog may compete in this class until a qualifying score in the Rally Advanced Class is earned. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. All exercises are judged on leash, and all dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. RALLY INTERMEDIATE: The Rally Intermediate Class is an elective class and earning the title is not a requirement to enter Rally Advanced Classes.(CKC rules, 10.1.2) This class shall be for dogs that have earned the R.N. title. A dog completing the R.I. or any other obedience or rally titles may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. This class (performed on leash, no jumps, no A or B division) may be entered indefinitely. Judges would ordinarily use the same course for it as for their Advanced Classes, substituting one other exercise for the jump required in Advanced. RALLY ADVANCED A: This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Novice (R. N.) title but have not won the Rally Advanced (R. A.) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or a member of their immediate families. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. A dog may continue to compete in this class after the owner has been notified by at least 2 different judges that the dog has won 3 qualifying scores in this class. However, a dog may not be entered or exhibited in this class in any rally trial after the owner has received official notification from the CKC that the dog has won the title. All dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. RALLY ADVANCED B: This class will be for dogs that have earned the R.N. title. A dog completing the R.A. title may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. All exercises are judged off leash. All dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. No dog may be entered in both Rally Advanced A and Rally Advanced B at any one trial. RALLY EXCELLENT A: This class shall be for dogs that have earned the R. A. title, but have not earned the R. E. title or any CKC Obedience title other than P.C.D. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC C.D.X. title shall be eligible to enter this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class All dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash.. No dog may be entered in both Rally Excellent A and Rally Excellent B at any one trial. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its C.K.C. Obedience CDX title shall be eligible to enter the A class in Rally Novice, Advanced or Excellent.
OVERNIGHT PARKING NO RESERVATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED: ALL WILL BE A FIRST COME-FIRST SERVED BASIS Exhibitors who wish to camp together must come in together. Hookups for power water or sewage are not available. Self contained vehicles only please. There are no showers available. All vehicles have to be parked within the boundaries of the show site. There is a limit of 1 vehicle per site. To protect the grass all vehicles parked in overnight parking must remain for the entire show. Extra vehicles to remain outside the fence. Fee is $50./weekend or $20./day plus $10.00 damage deposit The damage deposit will be returned to exhibitors leaving their campsite in the same condition as when they arrived. Day tents $10.00 day Day Parking $5.00 day All funds paid at the gate must be in Canadian funds CASH ONLY. Access to the grounds will be available Thursday August 16, 2018 after 12:00 noon. Please, no entries prior to this time. Vehicles must vacate 1 hour after BIS on Sunday. Thank-you!!
