SPECIAL MILITARY COVER LIST About once every five years a great collection comes along, last time it was Victoria Cross holders, this time it is a mix of a few of these plus a great selection of World War I and II items from both sides. Brian Albert Ball VC APRIL 2016 Issue 01 Albert Ball VC (1896-1917), signed small piece (8cm x 3cm) cut from the bottom of a letter. A World War I ace pilot with 44 Victories including shooting down the Red Baron, who called him the best English pilot. Supplied with a group of 56 Squadron from 1917, which includes him, two pictures in a bi-plane, a copy of the 2006 Stamp PHQ postcard on which he featured and the front page of a 1917 French magazine with him on the front. The photograph though very rare is not in the greatest condition and has been stuck to a board and has a few cracks, but is of course 100 years old. Captain Eddie Rickenbacker Captain Eddie Rickenbacker (1890-1973), the top scoring American Ace of World War I with 26 Victories. Signed posed picture with a clear dedicated signature. Was Knighted during World War I, then entered politics and joined the Nazi Party becoming Governor of Bavaria. Werner Molders 119 per month for 5 months Hermann Goring (1893-1946) and his wife Emmy (1935-1946), signed picture postcard which they have both signed and also shows their daughter, Christmas greetings on the reverse. Goring was an Ace pilot during World War I and founded the Gestapo in 1933. During World War II he was Hitler s Number 2 and led the Luftwaffe. The first man to fly solo across the Atlantic. Francis Gabreski (1919-2002), signed 31st July 1944 Mast head from the Chicago Daily Tribune. Commanding Officer Raymond Collishaw 1918 Combats in the Air Army Form. The report talks about attacks and the shooting down of two Aircraft near Dieppe by a pilot of 208 Squadron. This has been signed by the Commanding Officer Raymond Collishaw (1893-1976), the highest scoring World War I Ace of the RNAS and the second highest scoring Canadian. RYW015N 500 50 per month for 10 months Commanding Officer Sir Keith Park Major Christopher Draper RYW015J 750 150 per month for 5 months 1918 Combats in the Air Army Form, reporting on a plane shot down by a pilot of 48 Squadron, East of Albert. This has been signed by the Commanding Officer Sir Keith Park (1892-1975), who is best known for being in command during the Battle of Britain in World War II. RYW015K 500 50 per month for 10 months 1918 Combats in the Air Army Form, reporting on an enemy plane shot down while on a Special Reconnaissance mission. This has been signed by the Commanding Officer of 208 Squadron Major Christopher Draper (1892-1979). Known as The Mad Major, he is best known for flying under Bridges, but was an Ace pilot.
