PRESENTATION. The Iditarod race is the most prestigious sled dog race. It goes across Alaska from Est to West, from Anchorage to Nome (Bering sea) for 1000 miles. (1600 km). The trail goes across Alaska interior, wild and uninhabited to get to the tremendous Bering Sea coast. In 2015, it will be the southern road.

Distances are in miles.

START : MARCH 7 th,2015. DURATION : 10 TO 14 DAYS. Every musher starts with his/her 16 dogs team. Marcelle and her team on the Yukon River between Circle and Eagle during the 2012 Yukon Quest. During the race, the musher travels nights and days in self-reliance with his/her dogs without help, with short brakes in the check points or near the trail.

My team in a check point during the Iditarod 2014. In additon to the distance, the team will meet several challenges, as the weather or the land. The temperature could drop to minus 50 degrees Celsius (- 60 F). The blizzard or snowstorms are not uncommon. The team will go across the Alaska Range, the Dalzell gorges and the wild interior of Alaska. The team will travel 230 km (150 miles) on the Yukon River and more than 200 miles all along the Bering sea coast. The dogs are trained, fed and get care all along the year. They are high level athletes.

Fall training. During the season before the start, the dogs will get at least 5000 km (3000 miles) of training. For the musher, training and planning mean more than one year of a full time work. During the race, the dogs will eat more than 10 000 calories a day. It means one snack every 2 hours like a piece of fish or chicken and one meal every 6 hours with meat and high energy kibbles.

THE DOGS TEAM. Mr. X is my best leader. He was born in Quebec in 2007. It was an unplanned litter. I was guiding a group of customers on December 24. During the lunch break, Viking was mating with Debee. She should be no more in heat, but 2 months later, Mr. X was born, as only pup. Jade, my best leader at this time, took care of him. The result was not long: A real Christmas present. During the Yukon Quest, it showed me that he is an exceptional leader. He was in front of my team all along the 2012 Yukon Quest and the 2013 Yukon Quest 300. He leads all the way the 2014 Iditarod.

Morisson, was born in 2008. Leader, he comes from Maren Bradley s kennel. He is friend with Mr. X and replaces Apache who passed away last summer due to a peritonitis. He finished the 2013 Yukon Quest 300. He leads all the way the 2014 Iditarod. Pluton, was born in 2007. She comes from Paul Geoffrion s kennel. She is Peyote s daughter. Peyote comes from Ali Zyrkle s kennel. She is the mother of Arkell, Atlin, Carmacks, Cali, Cochise, Chinook and Cheyenne. Leader, during the 2012 Yukon Quest, she worked beyond my expectation, helping Mr. X for more than half of the race. She finished the 2012 Yukon Quest and the 2013 Yukon Quest 300. She ran the 2014 Iditarod to Mc Grath.

Cochise, born in 2009. Leader and swing dog. She finished the 2012 Yukon quest and the 2013 Yukon Quest 300. She is friend with Pluton, her mother. She is one of my favorite dog, but she has the bad habit to take off her booties. I have to stop quite often to put on her booties again. She ran the 2014 Iditarod to Cripple. Olive.

My little Olive comes from Marene s kennel. Young dog born in 2010. She has a good potential. She finished the 2013 Yukon Quest 300. She ran the 2014 Iditarod to the finish line. Arkell, born in 2008. Despite his feminine appearance, he is very strong and works often as a wheel dog. He finished the 2012 Yukon Quest and the 2013 Yukon Quest 300. He made all the training for the 2014 Iditarod as a spare.

Atlin, was born in 2008. Good team dog. He made 1000 km during the 2012 Yukon Quest. He was trained for the 2014 Iditarod as spare. Lola, Beatrice s dog. She finished the 2012 Yukon Quest and the 2013 Yukon Quest 300. She ran the 2014 Iditarod to Ophir.

Bandit, born in 2008. Good team or wheel dog. He finished the 2013 Yukon Quest. He ran the 2014 Iditarod to Elim. Bijou was born in 2008. She fell in heat during the 2012 Yukon Quest. My leaders were so disturbed that I had to walk in front of the sled for 60 km

before Eagle. I dropped her there to the veterinary team. Now she is spayed. She was trained for 2014 Iditarod as a spare. Doulik, born in 2010. She ran the 2014 Iditaroe to Mc Grath.

EMERAUDE, Elim and Eagle s sister. Born in 2012. Good team dog. Cali, born in 2009. She made all the training runs but didn t race. She is nevertheless an

excellent team dog and she is learning how to lead. She ran the 2014 Iditarod to Eagle pass check point. Baïkal, born in 2008, He is one of my best dog. He finished the 2012 Yukon Quest and the 2013 Yukon Quest 300. He ran almost all the 2014 Iditarod. I dropped him in Safety because he was not pulling anymore. Beige, team dog born in 2008. He finished the 2012 Yukon Quest and the 2013 Yukon quest 300. He finished the 2014 Iditarod.

Beaver, born in 2008. During the 2012 Yukon Quest, he was sick in Dawson. I dropped him there to my handlers. He finished the 2013 Yukon Quest 300. He finished the 2014 Iditarod.

Carmack, born in 2009. He is able to run in every position. He made the 2012 Yukon Quest to Pelly Crossing, it means more than 1000km. I dropped him because he had a diarrhea. He finished the 2014 Iditarod. Devil, born in 2010. He has an excellent potential. He made all the training runs. He finished the 2014 Iditarod.

Elim, born in 2012. He is Mr. X s son. He made the training with the racing team last season and many tours and expeditions. Echo, born in 2012. Mr. X s daughter. She was trained with the racing team. Eagle, born in 2012. Mr. X s son. He was trained with the racing team.
