ARB Distributing, LLC TropicalFishStore.com PO Box 9002, Grand Rapids, MI 49509, ph 616-534-5050 Toll Free: 1-866-398-9598 Installation Instructions Thank you for the purchase of The Pearl, the first model in the Jewels of the Sea collection. This beautifully designed, 60 gallon, self-contained aquarium features a handcrafted cabinet, and comes complete with an authentically detailed coral reef sculpture, advanced filtration system, steel frame, and lighting unit. Professional installation and set-up is recommended. Your shipment should contain the following components: 24 diameter cast, seamless acrylic cylinder with lid Three glued standpipes (3/4 return, 1 intake, 1 drytube ) Plumbing parts bag that includes the following: Two 1 bulkhead fittings One ¾ bulkhead fitting One 1 pvc intake strainer One roll Teflon tape

One ¾ close nipple One 1 close nipple One ¾ poly ell fitting One clear threaded nipple with poly tube cover One ¾ threaded return hose connection Rapids Pro filtration unit with hoses and parts Versatile, low- profile, T5 daylight and actinic lighting system by Current USA, Inc. with 6 lamp mounting base Steel support frame with plywood top and plywood filter platform Hand-finished, base and top cabinet with plywood light-shield top 1. Select a location for the aquarium that can support at least 800 pounds. Note that all electrical components will plug in below the aquarium base cabinet, so a floor outlet or extension cord running close to a wall outlet is required. 2. Place the metal frame and base cabinet unit on the floor and put the round plywood support on the frame. Ensure it is level and shim as necessary. The door opening of the base cabinet should align with the opening in the frame so that there is access to set the filter in place on the plywood filter platform. 3. Install and tighten the bulkheads in the bottom of the aquarium according to the part installation data sheet. The threads should be wrapped with the Teflon tape provided or joint compound to prevent leaks. 4. Place the aquarium on the plywood base. 5. Using the Teflon tape provided or joint compound, screw the standpipes into the inside of the aquarium in the corresponding bulkheads. Note that the larger 1 pipe, the drytube (with notch in the top), will stick above the water line of the aquarium and out the top of the hole in the acrylic lid. 6. Screw the 1 intake screen onto the top of the 1 intake pipe. 7. Screw the ¾ poly ell fitting onto the top of the ¾ return pipe. 8. Slide the reef through the opening in the top of the aquarium over the standpipes. 9. Using the Teflon tape provided or pipe joint compound, screw the 1 close nipple into the corresponding intake bulkhead underneath the aquarium, and the ¾ close nipple into the corresponding return bulkhead underneath the aquarium. Note that the 1 bulkhead for the drytube does not have any additional fittings that screw into it.

10. Screw the blue female-threaded hose fitting (parts located in the filter package) into the ¾ nipple and slip the end of the small blue return hose onto it and clamp it with the metal hose clamps provided. 11. Slip the 1 segment of clear tubing onto the clear female-threaded hose fitting and slip the larger blue intake tube over it. The end of the blue tubing may need to be placed under hot water to soften it so that it can slip over this fitting. Clamp it with the metal hose clamp provided. Screw this fitting and hose onto the 1 close nipple as shown below. 12. Set up the filter according to the manufacturer s instructions and slip the ends of the intake and return hoses (overflow) onto the molded fittings on the top of the filter box. *Note that you will not be using the components for the hang-on installation, so there will be additional parts not used. 13. Run the small end of the quick-disconnect of the lighting cord through the 1 bulkhead underneath the aquarium and up through the drytube. Wrap a twist tie or tape at the top of the cord so that it does not fall through the pipe when disconnected from the lighting unit. 14. Slide the filter onto the plywood filter platform below the aquarium. The aquarium can be filled via the top of the cylinder or by pumping water into the aquarium through the filter.

15. Once the aquarium is filled, assemble the lighting unit per the manufacturer s directions. Note that up to six lamps can be used with this mounting deck to customize the lighting desired. Replace the acrylic lid and plug the end of the lighting cord into the lighting fixture. 16. Place the top cabinet and upper wood lid on top of the aquarium.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS & INSTRUCTIONS * To safeguard against injury, basic precautions are necessary and should be observed. Please read all safety instructions before attempting to operate your aquarium.* Read and follow all Safety Instructions: Shipping materials and plastic wrap can be dangerous. To avoid suffocation, keep away from babies and children. DANGER - Electric shock and other injuries can occur without following safety procedures and instructional guidelines provided in this manual. 1.) To avoid possible shock, set up the aquarium on a clean, level, non-skid floor that will support at least 800 lbs. This will prevent uneven water distribution inside the tank that could cause dripping or leaking onto electrical cords, plugs and outlets. 2.) Locate your aquarium near an electrical outlet to avoid excess wiring and extension cords that may create safety hazards and / or tripping. 3.) Do not plug in your aquarium filter and lighting components into an electrical outlet before filling it with water. 4.) Carefully inspect the aquarium, after filling with water, and check the provided materials to ensure no portion of the aquarium is wet that is not intended to be wet. All electrical wires need to be completely dry before plugging your system into an electrical outlet. 5.) Do not handle any form of electrical devices, lamp bulbs or cords if your hands or clothing are wet or damp. Dry your hands and work station completely before powering your aquarium with electrical means. 6.) Always unplug electrical equipment from the outlet before performing aquarium maintenance of any kind. 7.) If a plug, cord or outlet gets wet, DO NOT unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that provides power to the aquarium. 8.) Never move the aquarium if it is full or partially full of water. Extensive damage and cracking can occur if it is not properly drained. 9.) Do not attempt at any point to disassemble the aquarium, reef structure, electrical wiring, cabinet, cylinder or any other part of the system that have not been instructed in the owner s manual. 10.) If your aquarium shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug the system from the power source. 11.) Do not operate the aquarium if it has damaged cords, plugs, light bulb sockets, cracked acrylic walls, or if it is malfunctioning. Do not operate the aquarium if it has been dropped or damaged in any manner. 12.) Close supervision of children is required when this aquarium is in use. 13.) Do not attempt to handle moving parts, light bulbs or socket when the aquarium is in operation and powered by electricity.

14.) Do not use the aquarium, its contents, or functional features for any other use than what is stated in this manual. 15.) Do not use any other equipment with this aquarium other than what is provided or specified. Malfunction, damage to property and injury may occur. 16.) Do not install this aquarium near a heat source, air conditioning vent, or where temperatures will be below freezing. 17.) Do not install this aquarium outside or in any other area where it will be exposed to natural elements. 18.) The electrical components in this aquarium utilize polarized plugs (one blade is wider than the other). If the plug does not easily fit into an outlet or extension, do not force it. Reverse the plug and try again. If the plug still does not fit with ease into the outlet, contact a qualified electrician. Never use an extension cord unless the plugs completely fit into the socket. TropicalFishStore.com A.R.B. Distributing, LLC, PO Box 9002, Grand Rapids, MI 49509 ph (616) 534-5050, fax (616)855-0946

MAINTENANCE IMPORTANT: Always unplug all electrical equipment from the outlet before performing aquarium maintenance of any kind. Never remove the clear acrylic lid while the light fixture is plugged into an outlet. Disconnect the cord from the light fixture socket, and fully remove the light fixture from the top cabinet before removing the acrylic lid from the aquarium. Ensure that the light cord is kept out of the aquarium water by placing it firmly within the notch in the top of the drytube. The amount of maintenance required for your aquarium is primarily determined by the fish population inhabiting your aquarium, the amount of food dispensed into the tank and the placement of your aquarium in proximity to a natural light source. Consult your local aquarium professional for maintenance recommendations. I. Do not attempt to use any type of household window cleaning products or any other common cleaning solvents to wash the outside or inside of your aquarium. Using such products will cause permanent damage, scratching and crazing to the acrylic as well as possible harm to the fish. Only use acrylic safe and approved cleansers available from aquarium supply centers. II. The water level in the aquarium will remain the same while the filter is operational. As you notice your water level depleting in the filter sump below due to natural evaporation, simply replenish with purified or filtered water to maintain the proper water level needed and to enable efficient operation of the filtration system. To do so, simply remove the top lid of the filter and slowly pour purified water directly into the filter component. III. Regular cleaning of your filtration system is necessary to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your system. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for proper cleaning instructions. IV. To clean the acrylic cylinder, use a soft pad purchased from your local aquarium supply store to gently remove any algae along the acrylic wall. The reef structure can be gently cleaned with a soft brush. Other devices to clean the inside acrylic wall, such as aquarium magnets for acrylic, are readily available from your local aquarium retailer. Consult your aquarium supply store for other approved methods and products. V. In the event you are in need of relocating your aquarium, you must never attempt to move the aquarium full or partially full of water. To relocate the aquarium, it is necessary to remove the fish and completely drain the water from the tank. First unplug all the electrical wires from the outlet, and then refer to the initial set-up instructions. WATER CHANGES:

Please note that a water change is different from replenishing the natural evaporated water in your tank. To replenish evaporated water, refer to the instructions listed in the maintenance section. A water change is necessary to eliminate a build up of nitrate and toxins in the water. A 20% water change should be conducted approximately every month after the initial setup, or as needed. Each time a water change is conducted, you will need to remove and replace approximately 20% of the volume. Consult your local dealer for water change specifics.
