Page 2 of 6 Pet Hub Receives PETCO Grants for Pet Food and Family Day Pet Hub has received a $1,000 pet food product grant from PETCO. Pet Hub will distribute the pet food through local organizations in the community that serve people and pets in need. Since the downturn in the economy many people are unable to afford food for their animals. Many of these pets are then relinquished to shelters because the owners are unable to feed their animals. Pet Hub also received a $3000 grant to help pay for Pet Hub Animal Rescue Newsletter the 1 st Annual Family Fun/Spay Neuter Day. These grants were made possible by PETCO Foundation, which has served as a voice for companion animals across the county with the goal to raise the quality of life for pets and people who love and need them. Pet Hub is extremely grateful for PETCO Foundation support of our programs. Hopefully we can keep more pets with their families and reduce the number of unwanted animals. PETS411 FREE Lost and Found for Pets Register your cats and dogs today. "We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. - M. Our volunteers were very busy at this event. Many residents, furry and not, visited Pet Hub s booth for treats and information. Pet Hub s focus at this event was to collect donations to bring the mobile Spay-Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) to the Pearland community. Thanks to the generous folks who attended the Paws in the Park, we raised 10% of the funds required to bring SNAP to our community. Pet Hub s goal is to host SNAP annually in our community. If you would like to contribute, please visit our website www.pet-hub-rescue.org. Your donation may be made with any major credit card or pay pal and is tax deductible.

Pet Hub Animal Rescue Newsletter Page 3 of 6 Happy Tails - Madge Madge is a six month pit bull. When she was first brought into the rescue, she had a bad case of mange and was in ill health due to neglect. Madge was definitely not ready for the Miss Doggie America pageant. Madge was fortunate to be placed in a foster home along with another rescue dog where she was treated and began to establish bonds. After spending time in her foster home, a bond developed not only with the other dog but also with the nice man. The foster decided to adopt both dogs. Now, Madge has found her forever home as well as her pup pal. Everyone agrees Madge is the cutest, sweetest dog on earth!!! Watch out Miss Doggie California, Madge will give you some competition. Reasons to Spay-Neuter Your Animals Every year in the United States, three to four million homeless dogs and cats are needlessly put to death - that is one about every eight seconds. Spaying and neutering is the #1 way to prevent pet euthanasia and reduce pet overpopulation. Spaying and neutering not only reduces the number of dogs and cats killed; it helps animals to live longer and healthier lives by eliminating or reducing many of the health and behavior issues that result in so many animals being relinquished to shelters. By spaying or neutering just one feral cat, in two years, we can prevent up to 144 kittens from being born into a life devoid of love or shelter and full of starvation, disease, neglect and fear. By spaying or neutering just one cherished family dog we can offer hope to 18 more by freeing space for them to await adoption in a shelter or in a home. As an AAHA certified hospital, we are proud to offer the highest standards in preventative healthcare. Our standard of medicine is like no other. We also value the community so we plan events on a routine basis to help educate our clients and give back to those who have kept us going over the years. Silverlake Animal Hospital offers routine vaccines, dentals, spays and neuters, orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries as well as other surgeries. On-site, the practice has a state of the art lab which allows them to perform several diagnostics and obtain immediate results. This allows the doctors at the practice to diagnose pets more efficiently. Founded in 2001 by Dr. Stevener and originally known as Animal Hospital West, the practice was brought by Dr. Terri F. Stone in April, 2010 and the practice was renamed in April, 2011 to Silverlake Animal Hospital. Affiliated as a business partner with Pet Hub Animal Rescue, the Silverlake Animal Hospital appreciates Pet Hub s community involvement and persistent activism to help rescue as many pets in the Pearland area as possible.

Pet Hub Animal Rescue Newsletter Page 5 of 6 Volunteers We Need You!!!!!! You can make a difference! There are a variety of ways that individual volunteers contribute to our mission to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. No experience is required!! We are always interested in new ideas to help our community, furry and non-furry. Volunteering is easy: Just select one or two activities that most interest you and tell us how to contact you. Cat and Dog Foster Parents provide temporary housing for homeless pets until permanent, loving homes can be found. Pet Hub pays for the costs associated with veterinary care of our foster pets, and our foster parents provide the love! Animal Support volunteers transport and handle dogs or cats at adoption events, clean cages and visit kitties at PETCO or other stationary adoption centers, and provide general support to our foster parents. Help transport animals to vet appointments. Fundraisers plan short-term (e.g., bake sales) and long-term events and we are always looking for fresh ideas. In addition, some fundraisers write grants to fund specific projects. Public Relations volunteers generate and maintain media contacts, write press releases, promote events, and attend community events to promote Pet Hub. Your Donations Help Community Initiatives volunteers help with planning and running community initiatives such as Project PASS (Pearlander s Assisting with School Supplies), blood drives, sterilization events and food banks (pets and people) on behalf of Pet Hub Animal Rescue. Thanks to you, every animal that comes into the care of Pet Hub Animal Rescue is given an opportunity to live out their life. Your donation ensures that Pet Hub Animal Rescue can continue its work. Your donation of any amount, large or small, helps these animals and gives them the love and opportunity they deserve. Please become a member of our Pet Hub Animal Rescue family.
