Medical, Nursing and Support staff throughout Waitemata DHB. Patients admitted to Waitemata DHB facilities. External Outpatients attending Waitemata DHB facilities. Purpose of the role : To coordinate the Waitemata DHB Laboratory POCT and Real Time Temperature Monitoring System(RTTMS) programmes in conjunction with the POCT coordinator To act as a resource and provide advice for Waitemata DHB in relation to POCT and RTTMS Quality KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES Procedures for POCT are developed, implemented and evaluated in line with IANZ requirements Annual audits of POCT are completed and reported Appropriate quality control procedures are established and monitored according to documented procedures to identify and rectify any potential system failure Maintaining IANZ accreditation for areas already obtained Adherence to the: ISO22870 POCT requirements for quality and competence NZ Best practice guidelines for POCT Waitemata DHB POCT policy POCT- management advisory committee terms of reference Training Training and recertification programmes are developed and implemented for clinical staff using POCT equipment Processes are in place to monitor the effectiveness of training programmes and to record attendances and recertification requirements Equipment Maintenance Perform documented maintenance procedures for all POCT equipment Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 3

KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES Monitor and troubleshoot POCT equipment Perform documented maintenance procedures for all RTTMS components Monitor and trouble shoot all areas that are linked to the RTTM system Liaise with suppliers/manufacturers/engineers when problems occur Equipment evaluation Investigate and recommend new POCT equipment where required Conduct appropriate evaluation of new equipment and make recommendations as to suitability Relationship Development Develop effective relationships with users and suppliers of POCT and RTTMS equipment Organize and attend POCTMAC meetings ( multidisciplinary clinical governance ) in conjunction with the POCT Coordinator Establish clear and regular communication processes with users and suppliers and keep the POCT Coordinator, Organisational Resource Professional Development Provide information to the wider organization regarding POCT and IANZ requirements Maintain up to date knowledge of advancements in POCT technology/trends Contribute to POCT User Groups and represent Waitemata DHB at relevant meetings Participate in CPD programme where relevant Identify learning and development opportunities Statutory & Treaty of Waitangi obligations Ensures the professional and political integrity of WDHB by carrying out all functions in compliance of the Treaty of Waitangi and by demonstrating a serious commitment to keeping the treaty alive.
