Exercises in Beginner Nvice Classes Imprtant Ntes: The Stay and Recall exercises in Beginner Nvice A and C-1 st year are different frm the Stay and Recall exercises in Beginner Nvice B and C-2 nd year. Exercises---Beginner Nvice A and Beginner Nvice C-1 st Year All exercises will be dne n-lead. Leash shuld be n less than 6 feet lng. Heel n Leash-Imprtant Tips Ability f dg and member t wrk as a team Orders are: Frward and Exercise Finished Signs: Rally signs will be used. Right Turn, Left Turn, Abut Turn, Slw, Nrmal, Fast and Halt/Sit Fast means-handler must run, and the handler and dg must mve frward at a nticeably accelerated speed. Turns will be used nly when the handlers is mving at a nrmal speed. Bth changes f pace signs must be fllwed by a nrmal sign. Turns signs may be placed in any sequence and may be repeated. Tw f each turn sign must be available fr the judge s use. The Halt/Sit sign will be used nce at the end f the exercise. The judge shuld standardize the heeling pattern fr all dgs in the class. The leash may be held in either hand r in bth hands, but the hands must be held in a natural psitin. Any tightening r jerking f the leash and use f any extra cmmands and/r signals will be penalized. The handler will enter the ring with the dg n a lse leash and stand with the dg sitting in the heel psitin. The judge will ask if the handler is ready befre giving the rder, Frward. The handler may give a cmmand r signal t heel and will walk briskly and naturally with the dg n a lse leash. The dg shuld walk clse t the handler s left side withut swinging wide, lagging, frging, r crwding. The dg must nt interfere with the handler s freedm f mtin at any time. At the Halt/Sit sign, the handler will stp. The dg shall sit straight and prmptly in the heel psitin withut cmmand r signal. The judge will rder, Exercise finished at the cmpletin f this exercise. Sit-Stay On Lead---Imprtant Tips Dg remains in the sit psitin. Orders are: Sit yur dg, Leave yur dg, Return t yur dg, and Exercise finished. Handler will stand with dg sitting in heel psitin Prir t the starting the exercise, the judge will ask if the handler is ready. The leash remains n the dg and held by the handler fr the entire exercise. Judge gives the rder Sit yur dg ; the handler will cmmand and/r signal the dg t sit, if they are nt already sitting. Judge will rder Leave yur dg, and the handler will give a cmmand and/r signal t stay and immediately walk t the end f the lead facing away frm the dg as they walk. Once the handler reaches the end f the lead he will turn and face the dg. The stay will be held fr 45 secnds. Handler must remain still, with their hands held at their sides. N ther cmmands can be given during the 45 secnds that the dg is in the stay. After 45 secnds has passed, judge will give the rder Return t yur dg. Handler will walk back t the dg and will return t the heel psitin with the dg n their left side, by walking arund behind the dg. During the return t and arund the dg, the handler may use their hands t take up the slack in the lead t avid tripping ver it, but may nt cmmand the dg either with their hands r their vice. Once handler has returned t heel psitin, the judge will give the rder Exercise finished. Sit-Stay, Scring Serius Fault If the dg mves a substantial distance away frm the place where it was left any time during the exercise Nt remaining in the sit psitin until the handler has returned t heel psitin Repeatedly barking r whining.
