YOUR JUDGES FOR THE SHOW Dogs: Laurie Ford (Blitstaff) I have owned Staffordshire Bull Terriers since 1982 and have bred owned/bred 2 UK Champions, these being Ch Blitstaff Mad O Rourke and Ch Aradazie Girl by Blitstaff. I also owned Her Indoors 1 CC and Mystic Warrior 1 CC. I first judged the breed at Open Show level in 1988 and was passed by the KC to award CCs to SBTs in 1999. I have since been honoured to have judged the breed at this level on five occasions and have also judged in many foreign countries. I have served on the committee of SCSBTS in many capacities during the years and have held the positions of Chairman, Secretary, Match Secretary, Committee member and Canteen Manager so have an understanding of the enormous amount of effort the committee members put in to make these shows a success. When I received my notification that I had been shortlisted to officiate at this show I can honestly say that I was as excited as a small child and when I received the confirmation that the members had elected me I could have burst with pride. To me, the honour of judging this show having been nominated and elected by my peers is I consider the pinnacle of my judging career. Having owned all the recognised KC recognised colours my attitude towards the breed is that if it looks like a Stafford, moves like a Stafford and acts like a Stafford then I look no further, colour is just a coating! I hope everyone at the end of the day has had a fantastic day and I promise to do my very best to give each and every exhibit their fair dues. Bitches: Maureen Ward (Zabaretts) Like most people I came into dog showing by accident, my family had always had dogs so with my late husband, Fred Ward, we used to help out at our usual county show and were asked one day to help at the canine show part as they were short of stewards in the Staffordshire Bull Terrier ring. We were smitten, we married in March 1969 and our first Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy came the following year. We began our show career starting from the early 70s, campaigning Ch Yennips Golden Wonder, to gaining CCs with Lymstaff Lady Flash of Zabaretts, Wardrum War Paint of Zabaretts to being the breeder of Ch Zabaretts Razzle Dazzle. I judged my first show in March 1980, giving my first set of Staffordshire Bull Terrier CCs in 1989, judging throughout from that time both in the United Kingdom and abroad, I was honoured to judge the Staffordshire Bull Terrier bitches at Crufts in 2011 and see our Best of Breed take 3rd in the Terrier Group and to judge the bitches and BOB at the FCI World Dog Show in Finland in 2014. On the official side I am Treasurer for the East Midlands SBT Club also their Breed Council representative and health representative, as well as a committee member of the Notts & Derby District SBT breed club, and a committee member and Chief Steward of the National Terrier Club. I feel very honoured to be asked to judge The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club and thank the Members for nominating me to do this most prestigious show. I look forward to judging with my co-judge Laurie Ford, where I hope you the exhibitors enjoy your day and am sure we will both have a great day to remember.

A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best in Show respectively. Best Puppy in Show must be selected from puppies which have been judged and which are unbeaten by any other puppy. Withdrawal from other Competition: Puppies which become eligible for Best Puppy in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition, other than Breed Classes prior to the competition for Best Puppy in Show as appropriate, in order to remain unbeaten. A puppy beaten in competition for Best Puppy in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Proviso: For the purpose of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to one breed will not be considered to be a beaten dog. 12. Best in Show must be selected from the exhibits declared Best of Sex providing they are unbeaten winning dogs. Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the Best Opposite Sex and the Reserve Best of Sex to the exhibit declared Best in Show. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show must not compete in any subsequent competition. Withdrawal from other Competition: Dogs which become eligible for Best in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition, other than breed classes prior to the competition for Best in Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Proviso: For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs. 13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management. 14. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11. 15. It is not acceptable to handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch the ground when on the move. Exhibitors should note that such practices could constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

16. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 17. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor. 18. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry. 19. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 20. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 21. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. 22. Every exhibitor making an entry at this Show shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by the Kennel Club Rules & Regulations and by these Regulations and it is on this understanding only that entries are received. 23. Should a Judge be prevented from fulfilling their engagement the committee reserve to themselves the right of appointing another judge to fulfill their duties. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition but no entry fees can be returned. 24. No animal other than a dog duly entered at the Show will be admitted within the precincts of the Show. 25. It should be distinctly understood by exhibitors and spectators at the Show that the committee will not be responsible for the entire of partial loss or detention of or damage to any dogs or any other property whether arising from accident or any other cause whatsoever or from any act or omission of themselves or their officers, servants, agents or others. Exhibitors and spectators will be held responsible for any damage to property or equipment within the show environs caused by their children or children in their care. It is on this understanding that entries are accepted. 26. No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time whilst at the licensed venue including its environs, car park and approaches. 27. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event). 28. Fraudulent or discreditable conduct at Shows will be reported, in writing, to the Secretary of the Kennel Club.
