To re-hydrate necrotic tissue, or haematoma or dry slough tissue, the surrounding tissue may need to be protected with a barrier film to prevent maceration. Prior to rehydrating tissue consider the vascular status of the patient and their ability to heal. If you have any concerns please refer to tissue viability before attempting rehydration.
