Exclusion zone for harmful bacteria! Aviguard FOR BROILERS, LAYERS, TURKEYS AND GAMEBIRDS
Where to use Aviguard Aviguard should be used whenever there is a need for establishment or re-establishment of the normal intestinal bacteria. 1.In day old chicks and poults Aviguard is sprayed on the birds to establish optimal intestinal colonisation by beneficial bacteria, helping prevent colonisation by pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella, E.coli and Clostridium perfringens. The natural beneficial bacteria in Aviguard attach to specific sites in the gut and colonise it, preventing pathogenic strains taking hold. 2. In older birds Aviguard may be given in the drinking water to restore or re-establish the beneficial intestinal flora in the following situations: After antibiotic treatment. One dose is given 48 hours after completion of treatment to re-colonise the gut with beneficial bacteria To protect against infection by Salmonella, pathogenic strains of E.coli and Clostridium perfringens For the prevention of necrotic enteritis To manage antibiotic resistance At any time of stress in the bird s life including relocation, peak of lay, forced moulting, bitting etc, when resistance to disease may be reduced To improve litter quality Aviguard should be used for at least three consecutive crop cycles or every six weeks initially to allow build up of beneficial bacteria within the environment
Natural immunity The gut and its resident bacterial flora play an important role in the development of the immune system and resistance to disease 1 Under natural breeding conditions chicks and poults obtain their gut flora from their parents and the environment The modern reality Modern breeding conditions involve a sanitised environment where eggs are hatched separately from the mother This causes a delay in the establishment of intestinal flora and significantly increases susceptibility to pathogenic bacteria and subsequent disease The solution: Aviguard A unique composition of over 200 species of natural beneficial gut bacteria from healthy, pathogen free adult birds These quickly colonise the whole intestine Used to establish normal gut bacteria in chickens, turkeys and gamebirds naturally boosting the immune system and providing increased resistance to disease
Why is Aviguard Aviguard works through competitive exclusion, a process by which normal intestinal bacteria establish themselves, colonising the gut wall and creating exclusion zones. This prevents transient disease causing bacteria from becoming established Aviguard is not a probiotic. Probiotics contain only a small number of bacteria which are transient and quickly pass through the gut. Aviguard contains over 200 species of bacteria which actively colonise the gut resulting in a stable flora Optimal colonization is achieved within 48 hours Protects the bird by excluding pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella, E.coli and Clostridium perfringens Can help reduce the requirement for antibiotic treatment different? Competitive Exclusion in the gut With Aviguard Without Aviguard Key: Aviguard friendly bacteria Potentially harmful bacteria How does Aviguard work? Intestinal Lumen Dense bacterial barrier Intestinal wall Aviguard has 5 proposed modes of action: 1. Physical attaches to the gut wall preventing the establishment of potentially disease-causing bacteria 2. Biological produces a low oxygen environment which harmful bacteria do not like 3. Chemical reduces the ph, making the environment more acidic which inhibits intestinal pathogens 4. Biochemical many natural gut bacteria produce antibiotic-like substances, while others produce chemicals that inhibit bacterial reproduction 5. Nutritional normal bacteria compete against harmful bacteria for nutrients
