Love Art by Natalia B., Age 12 A Review of The Hobbit,an Unexpected Journey By Connor S., Age 7 This movie is about a dwarf prince named Thorin Oakensheild. His castle is invaded by a dragon. It destroys the kingdom. Then the Wizard Galdalf the Grey gets a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins to try to get back the kingdom from the dragon. There are 12 dwarfs that joined the adventure, Bombur, Bofur, Bifur, Bwalin, Balin, Kili, Fili, Nori, Ori, Dori, Gloin & Oin. My favorite is Kili because he has cool weapons. The movie follows the dwarfs as they travel to the kingdom and shows all the adventures they have on the way. That is all I am going to tell you. If you want to know more you can see the movie. If you like Lord of the Rings, you will love this movie. 3

How to Tame a Unicorn by Natalia B., Age 12 Do you know how to tame a unicorn? I bet you have no idea! I know from personal experience. My unicorn, Fluffy, used to rip everything apart, but not anymore. I taught Fluffy how to behave so I m going to give you a few awesome tips on how to train your own unicorn. One of the obvious ways to tame your unicorn is to flick their horn. If they do something bad just flick them and yell, BAD UNICORN! This works because unicorns do not like being flicked. To do this all you need is your finger. This step is very important because if your unicorn never gets flicked it might grow up acting like a horse instead of a unicorn. After your unicorn learns to behave you must learn the native unicorn language. It is called the unicorniumbium language. For example, neigh, neigh, neigh, ni, neig means stop eating my pancakes. Also, ni, ni, neigh, neigh means I don t like it. This is important because then your unicorn knows what it s doing wrong and why you don t like it. That means your unicorn will be happy and not confused. You can easily do this by taking a course online or looking for a book in your local library. After your unicorn is pretty much tamed you can reward it with a rainbow. Your unicorn deserves a present because they are behaving for you. You can do this by going to a pet store nearby your home and asking the worker if you can talk to the manager. Then whisper the words, neigh, neigh, ni, ni, na, na, neigh, ni, na. Then he will take you to a secret room to show you all the different rainbows. Now your unicorn will be happy. Finally your unicorn is fully tamed and happy. You can pretty much do anything with your unicorn now. The unicorn should now behave, but if it doesn t just repeat the steps. If your unicorn really misbehaves just take away its rainbow. The unicorn should surely behave because it will very much want its rainbow back. A review of OZ, the Great and Powerful By Riley S., Age 11 This movie is about the land of Oz before Dorothy got there. In the beginning, Oz is a magician at a circus show, but he was not very good. He is caught in a tornado that brings him to Oz. Everyone there thinks he is the real wizard that was sent to save theland from the wicked witches, but Oz was not the wizard everyone thought he was. The movie follows Oz as he tries to save the land from the witches. He does not have magical powers so he has to come up with tricks to fight the witches. There were some new characters introduced, as well as some old ones. In the end, you understand how Oz ends up the true Wizard of Oz as in the original movie and why the 2 witches become truly evil. I thought this movie was really good. The flying monkeys were even scarier than in the original movie, so watch out! 5

Gabby Douglas is the BEST Gymnast Do you know who the best gymnast is? She was the first African American women to win a gold medal for gymnastics in the Olympics. If you guessed Gabby Douglas then you re correct. She is amazing because of her natural talent, her amazing skills & all the awards she won. I am going to talk about why she is the best gymnast. When Gabby was a little girl her family knew she would become a great gymnast. Just when she was 2 years old she learned how to do a perfect cartwheel. Her sister was the one who taught her. She practiced and practiced. Then, when she was 4, she learned how to do a one-handed cartwheel all by herself. She really wanted to join competitions and early trophies & medals. Finally, when Gabby was 6, her mom let her join gymnastics. Her coaches were amazed of what she could do. She moved up levels very quickly, her coaches believed she had a true talent. Gabby had amazing skills and strategies. Her skills come from her amazing coach Liang Chow. He was the best coach and encouraged her to do her best. Gabby was very flexible. Flexibility helped her with probably everything in gymnastics. She was amazing at bars and her nickname was the flying squirrel. She would glide from bar to bar. Most of the time Gabby would get 1st place on the bars. One good strategy Gabby had was to never look at the competitor s score. Then she would never get stressed during her routine. Later on, Gabby considered herself to be a champion because she won a lot of awards. She won the 2004 Virginia State Gymnastic Championship. She got 1st on bars, 2nd on floor, 2nd on beam & 3rd on vault. She won the 2010 Super Girl Cup. She was very happy because she thought she would be in the Olympics later on. Her dream came true when she made the 2012 London Olympics. She left London with 2 gold medals. One team gold medal and one all around. Some people think Shawn Johnson is the best gymnast. She won silver and gold, but Gabby won 2 gold medals. Also Gabby inspired many young gymnasts. She was the one who inspired me to try my best in gymnastics. If Gabby Douglas is touring and she is near you I recommend that you should go see this outstanding gymnast. You won t ever regret watching the amazing Gabby Douglas!
