Bred by Exhibitor (BBE) Class Eligibility (revised 09/02) The Bred-by-Exhibitor Class shall be for dogs that are: Six months of age or older as of the first day of the show; Not Champions on the date of closing of entries for the show; Individually registered with the American Kennel Club as of the date of the show; Owned or co-owned by any of the breeders of record as of the date of the show. The person handling the dog in this class must be a breeder of record and an owner of record of this dog. In any subsequent classes for which a dog from the Bred-by-Exhibitor class becomes eligible, there are no restrictions as to who may handle. Amateur Owner Handler Class (effective as of 1/1/2009) Chapter 3, Section 7 The Amateur Owner Handler Class shall be for dogs that are at least six months of age that are not champions. Dogs must be handled in the class by the registered owner of the dog. This class is restricted to exhibitors, who have not, at any point in time, been a professional handler, AKC approved conformation judge, or employed as an assistant to a professional handler. Additionally, members of the immediate family or household of a current professional handler are ineligible for this class (as defined in Chapter 11, Section 13). 3

Exhibitors Please Note Entry into the Fairgrounds is from North Avenue (Rt. 91) only. Parking Attendants will be on duty from Noon Friday till Best in Show on Sunday. No Parking on the grass on the south side of the building. There will be a limited number of handicapped spaces available. These will be provided on a first come, first served basis and limited to those with handicapped permits only. Please have your permits ready for inspection. Camping space is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. There will be no saving of spaces. Camping charge is $20.00 per night without electric and $25.00 per night with electric for all vehicles staying overnight, CASH ONLY. There is no admission charge to these events, but a parking charge of $5.00 per day will be made for all cars entering the grounds and a charge of $5.00 will be made for CAMPER/TRAILER/MOTORHOME/CUBE VANS/CARS that use electric and are same day parking. No Space will be provided for unentered dogs. All dogs left in the building overnight must have owner/handler contact information affixed to each crate. The building will be locked promptly at 9:00 P.M. on Friday & Saturday night. All exhibitors, equipment, and dogs need to be removed by 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 12, 2013. The club, their officers and members, superintendent and any employees of said superintendent will not be responsible for any disappearance, loss, theft, or other harm to dogs or personal property for any cause at any time. The club further assumes no responsibility for injury to children. PARENTS AND GUARDIANS MUST KEEP THEIR CHILDREN UNDER CONTROL ON THE SHOW GROUNDS. The kennel club and its officials are not responsible for the actions or products of the commercial vendors at these events. Ramps at the sole discretion of the judge, approved breeds may be judges on the ground or on a ramp: Boykin Spaniels, Clumber Spaniels, Field Spaniels, Sussex Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniels, Whippets, Irish Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Chinese Shar-Pei, Chow Chows, Keeshonden, & Polish Lowland Sheepdogs. (Boykin Spaniels & Whippets may be judged on the table, ramp or ground.) This list may be revised from time to time, and the current list can be found on the AKC website in Judging Operations. A judge requesting the use of a ramp must give reasonable notice to the Show Superintendent/Show Secretary prior to the day of the show. AKC approval is not required. Ramps may be used in emergency situations to judge any breed. (In all emergency situations, the exhibitor has no recourse. In an emergency situation, where use of a ramp of not indicated in the premium list, an exhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund.) Entry Information Entry fees: Include $3.00 AKC event service fee per entry and $0.50 AKC recording fee first entry only. Notice to Exhibitors Telegraph, Telephone, Faxed, Emailed, and Unsigned Entries Cannot Be Accepted. Entries Not On Official AKC Entry Forms, Downloaded and/or Photocopies of Entry Forms without Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the Official AKC Entry Form are Not Acceptable. Mail All Entries With Fees to: Marilyn Santell, Show Secretary, 735 Portage Easterly Rd. NE., Cortland, OH. 44410. Entries received without fees will not be accepted. Acknowledgement of entries will be made as soon as practicable with tickets and/or identification cards. The person accompanying a dog must show tickets of admissions and identification before the dog will be received. Should such acknowledgement not be received by the exhibitor within a reasonable time, please verify your entry with the Event Secretary. Make All Checks and Money Orders payable to Heart of Ohio Sussex Spaniel Club. (HOSSC) Please mail check or money order with entries. The Club assumes no responsibility for cash sent through the mail. Tabulate carefully. Due to cost of processing, no refunds for amounts of $4.00 or less will be made. No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. An AKC Recording fee of $0.50 first entry only and an AKC Event Service Fee of $3.00 per entry will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club Show, Obedience Trial or Tracking Test. An AKC Recording Fee of $3.00 will be required for each entry in any Licensed or Member Club Rally Trial. All Recording and Event Service Fees are paid to the American Kennel Club. (There is no Recording Fee or Event Service Fee for Junior Showmanship, Sweepstakes, Futurities, Brace/Team, MultiDog Classes or Special Attractions. Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Event Committee. If, because of riots, wars, strikes, civil disturbances, national emergencies, health emergencies, and the control of management, it is impossible to open or complete the event, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions such as, but not limited to, snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains or other circumstances including, but not limited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors, and spectators. The well-being of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the event before completion, no refund of entry will be made. Post Dated Checks and Returned Checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Club will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check. No Refund for Duplicate Entries. Every effort to find all duplicate entries will be made; however, if entry has been processed, no refund will be made. Errors on Entry Blanks. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors, and no entry fee will be refunded in event of such errors or cancellation of entries after published closing date. Each Owner and Agent listed on the entry form and/or individual responsible for the dog at a show is bound by the Certification and Agreement on the front and back of the entry form regardless of who may have completed & submitted the entry form. As specified in Chapter 12, Section 4 of the AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows, information contained on the entry form is required to be published in the club s show catalog. This information is also subject to publication in other media. Dogs May Arrive any time prior to their scheduled judging time. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. Judges Will Not Wait for Any Dog Holding Up a Class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called to be judged. All Dogs Present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the exercise ring. Class Cash Prizes will be paid in the ring to the person showing the dog. Claims for prize money must be made in the ring before the judging of that breed is over, and the Event Secretary must be advised at once. The Event Secretary and the Club disclaim any liability for cash prizes after the judging of the breed is over. 8
