NEW TESTAMENT STORIES Unit 9 1. MEN OF THE NEW TESTAMENT You will learn about Lazarus. You will learn about Thomas. You will learn about Stephen. You will learn how God helped these men. Lazarus (John 11:1 44) Mary and Martha were sisters. Lazarus was their brother. They were friends of Jesus. Jesus would stay at their home. They loved Jesus. One day, Lazarus became very sick. Mary and Martha were worried! Jesus was in another town. Lazarus 2 Section 1
Unit 9 NEW TESTAMENT STORIES Mary asked Jesus to come to her house. She wanted Jesus to heal her brother. Lazarus died. Mary and Martha were very sad. They cried. Jesus heard about Lazarus. He went to Mary and Martha s house. He saw many friends crying. Jesus was very sad. Jesus wept. Jesus went to where Lazarus was buried. Jesus prayed to God. He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus come forth. Lazarus came out. Lazarus was alive! Jesus made Lazarus alive! Section 1 3

Others work to protect people by having a job with fire or police departments. Farmers work milking cows or plowing fields. Still other adult workers care for people as doctors or nurses. Not all people work during the day. Factories may run during the day and at night. People are needed to work during all hours of the day and night. Unit 3 ANIMALS Animals Live in Different Places God has put animals all over the world. Some animals, such as the camel, live in the desert. A camel (cam el) can go without water for a long time. Very little water is in the desert. A polar (pol ar) bear lives where it is very cold. His white coat helps him to hide from danger. Giraffes live where trees are tall. Their long necks help them to reach the leaves on these trees. The giraffes like to eat the leaves. Jungle snakes can hide in the leaves of the many trees in the jungle. The snakes are safe. Camels live in the desert. God has placed animals where they can find food. God has put animals where they can live safely. He has given people good minds. People must think of ways to make their homes better no matter where they live. Section 2 25

Unit 3 ANIMALS Animals Have Different Coverings Not all animals have the same covering. Each covering helps that animal to survive. Birds have feathers to help them fly. The feathers are light. Air moves past the feathers swiftly. Snakes have scales to make it easy to bend. They move smoothly along the ground. A bird A turtle (tur tle) carries his shell with him. He pulls his legs under the shell when danger is near. Other animals have thick fur to keep them warm in winter. A cat grows thick fur before the cold weather starts. A turtle The elephant has a thick skin to help him. He is so big that he can t hide easily. His tough skin must keep him safe. God has given each animal a covering to help keep that animal safe.
