For a short period Geoff was involved with the running of a small orchid nursery. This venture was very well supported by the orchid growing community, prior to the establishment of his nursery Geoff was a teacher/principal with the Departments of Education in Victoria 42 years. He is currently a member of 5 orchid clubs in Melbourne and regularly judges at monthly meetings, he has judged at 15 spring shows at both metropolitan and regional clubs. Geoff is currently a member of the Orchid Societies Council of Victoria (OSCOV) and the Cymbidium Orchid Society of Victoria (COSV) orchid judging panels. He is on the OSCOV guest speaker register and has been asked to speak at several different clubs on a range of different orchid genera. For the last five years The Australian Cymbidium Scene has been produced by Geoff. This is a fully coloured magazine featuring trends in Cymbidium hybridizing and cultural notes. It is a quarterly/ seasonal magazine full of inmation & photos that caters the backyard gardener and to the most experienced grower or hobbyist and it is even mailed out to many overseas growers as well. In March of 2017 he was invited to be a guest speaker at the Cymbidium Congress in Calinia, this conference is held in conjunction with the Santa Barbra Orchid show at which Geoff was a guest judge. Stephen Lynch Stephen is a second generation nurseryman /propagator, began growing Australian Native species in 1987. What started as a hobby has evolved into a love affair that has spanned over 30 years and shows no signs of diminishing, just getting deeper. Stephen grows many species and hybrids of many different genera, in 7 shade houses 'at present' holding at last count 4000+ plants. In 1992 he managed the Troppicuss nursery in Darwin growing 4.5 million phaleanthe type Dendrobium plants flowers, breeding and export. Stephen is a life member of Riverland Orchid Society and is the first home grown Australian Orchid council judge in that club, he donates a lot of time to teaching others, and holds the positions of Registrar of judges and Public Officer, he is also a member and judge at the Murray Bridge Orchid Club, judging with other senior AOC judges at their monthly meetings. Stephen travels around South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales, judging and has been a guest speaker at clubs such as Gawler, OCSA, Sunraysia, Horsham, Pt Pirie, RA&HS Adelaide, South Coast and Murray Bridge. Stephen enjoys nothing more than a good natter about orchids and orchid growing, with novice and expert growers alike, on his face book group Orchid Basis and Helpline with other Orchidphiles all over the world.

ORCHID COMPETITION 7 2018 Orchid Competition Judges & Stewards Wendy Lodge Wendy first began her interest in growing orchids when she joined the South Coast orchid club with her father in 2003. This stimulated her interest in orchids and as a result she also decided to join the Orchid club of South Australia where she started the training course national orchid judges which is conducted by the Australian Orchid Council. This course was completed in 2011 and since then Wendy has judged at many orchid shows both city and country based South Australian Orchid clubs, she has been keenly sought to judge at several interstate shows, recently in 2015 was invited to judge at the Australian Orchid Council Conference which was held in Mackay Queensland. In 2016 Wendy was appointed as the Registrar of Judges the Orchid Club of South Australia and currently holds this position. Rowan Crowhurst Rowan Crowhurst is from Whyalla, Country South Australia and has been growing orchids since he was about eight years old. Rowan used to get his parents to take him to the local orchid shows in Whyalla. Eventually, when his dad joined the local orchid club when Rowan was in high school and it was then he became more involved with the showing of plants which eventually led to him becoming involved with the judging side of orchids by doing some pencilling. In 2010 I moved to Adelaide where I studied at the Elder Conservatorium of Music at Adelaide University two years. It was during this time he joined the South Coast Orchid club of South Australia and then a few years later the Orchid Club of South Australia, and also become a member of his local orchid club in Whyalla. He started the Australian Orchid Council orchid judge s course in 2011 and graduated from this course in July 2016. Since completion of his judge's course and being a fully qualified AOC judge, Rowan has judged in many parts of Australia, including: Adelaide, Horsham, Mount Gambier/Millicent, Port Pirie, Whyalla and Port Lincoln. A highlight of his judging career so far has been when he attended the Australian Orchid Council Orchid Conference in Mackay in 2015 as an associate judge and was tunate enough to be involved with the judging at this conference. He is a musician playing the Trumpet and Bassoon as well as heavily involved with his hobby of growing orchids. Rowan is currently over half way through completing his Double Degree in Education, through Charles Darwin University, with Music and Environmental Science as major study areas. He is the youngest member of the South Australian Regional Judges Panel and is has been asked to judge at the various orchid shows in South Australia and has also been invited to judge in Queensland in the latter half of September 2018.
