Steuben County 4-H Rabbit Project Record Member s Name Address Number of years enrolled in 4-H Rabbit Project Age County Club Project Year My goals this year

Acknowledgements This project record was developed by members of the New York State 4-H Rabbit & Cavy Advisory Committee. Special thanks go to the Cornell Cooperative Extension Associations of Onondaga, Erie, Orleans, Cayuga, Ulster, Orange, Saratoga, Schoharie and Tompkins for providing volunteer editors and contributors. The intent of this record book is to supply New York youth with a uniform project record format that can be adapted to fit local needs and situations. Whether children choose to raise rabbits for pets or production they will gain skills in record keeping and time management. In addition to caring for rabbits, encourage youth to participate in public presentations or community service activities to support animal rescue shelters. All youth can help others learn how to care for new animals. Each year, encourage children to set their own new goals. Rabbit Records Tips Here are a few suggestions that will help you while filling out your rabbit record. 1) Be NEAT!!! Make sure you have an extra blank record so you can rewrite your record if you need to. Your final record should have no White-out or mistakes on it. 2) Double check all your math and spelling. Make sure any mistakes have been corrected before your final copy. 3) Make sure your record is accurate. If at the end of your record year you said you have 4 rabbits make sure the record says where they came from. Did you start your project year with them? Did you purchase them during the year? Did you breed them? They can t just appear at the end, they need to be listed somewhere else also. 4) Don t leave blank spaces. If it does not apply to you write N/A. If you leave it blank it looks like you just forgot to do it. Hope this information helps you to fill out your best record yet. Happy showing! ***If this record is not completed in the member s handwriting the record will be considered incomplete and the 4-H member will not be eligible to exhibit an animal of that species in the county fair the following year. (Exception: learning disability, broken hand/arm)***

4-H Targeting Life Skills Wheel Questions To be completed with each 4-H project record If you are completing more than one project record you cannot use the exact same paragraph(s) for each project record. You need to do write about a different life skill(s) learned. 8-10 year olds - write a short paragraph about 30 words or less using the Targeting Life Skills Wheel to select 1 life skill you learned from this 4-H project and explain how the project taught you this skill. 11-13 year olds write two short paragraphs about 30 words or less for each paragraph using the Targeting Life Skills Wheel to select 2 life skills you learned from this 4-H project and explain how the project taught you this skill. The 2 life skills must be from a different category on the chart (Head, Heart, Hands Health) for example one from Head and 1 from Heart but Not 2 from Head or Not 2 from Heart. 14-18 year olds write four short paragraphs about 30 words or less for each paragraph using the Targeting Life Skills Wheel to select 4 life skills you learned from this 4-H project and explain how the project taught you this skill. There must be 1 life skill from each of the 4 categories Head, Heart, Hands Health.
