Vaccination guidelines for dogs entered in the show The vaccination regulations adopted by Svenska Kennelklubben apply to the show. Non-Swedish exhibitors are responsible for obtaining information on the rules and regulations for importing dogs into Sweden and re-importing into the exhibitor s native country. Up-to-date information on the import of dogs to Sweden is available on the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket) www.sjv.se The Svenska Kennelklubbens vaccination regulations The vaccination regulations adopted by Svenska Kennelklubben apply at dog shows and trials, as well as at any other public canine event. The organiser is responsible for checking the vaccination certificates of all dogs. To be eligible for participation in shows or trials, a dog must have an up-todate distemper vaccination. Distemper vaccination Participating dogs must have been vaccinated against distemper in accordance with the following: Dog under 1 year: vaccinated when no younger than 10 weeks old. Dog over 1 year: vaccinated when no younger than one year old, with the most recent subsequent vaccination having been carried out within the past 4 years. First-time vaccinations must have been carried out at least 14 days before the day of competition. Parvo vaccination Svenska Kennelklubben recommends that all dogs be vaccinated against parvo. Please ask your own vet for advice on the parvo vaccines available. Rabies vaccination Sweden is a rabies-free country, and it is, therefore, important that all dogs imported into the country are vaccinated against this illness. For up-to-date information, please visit the Swedish Board of Agriculture's (Jordbruksverket) website www.sjv.se Worming Tapeworm (Echinococcus) can cause serious illness in humans and dogs. Tapeworm carried by foxes can be spread by dogs to humans via wild berries or mushrooms. If tapeworm carried by foxes spreads to Sweden it may threaten Swedish open-air recreation and the opportunity for people to enjoy berries and mushrooms picked in the countryside. It is, therefore, of the utmost importance that dogs are wormed before they are brought into Sweden. For up-to-date information, please visit the Swedish Board of Agriculture's (Jordbruksverket) website www.sjv.se NB! The vaccination requirements for the import of dogs to Sweden are more stringent than the vaccination regulations for the show. For more information on vaccination regulations, visit www.skk.se For up-to-date information on import requirements, visit the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket) www.sjv.se
