Payment may be made by check, money order, or cash. Checks and money orders should be made payable to Youth Exhibition Poultry Association (YEPA). All proceeds will be going to YEPA of Florida. ENTRIES Refunds will not be given for birds that are not brought to the show. Call-ins will not be accepted. If emailing entries, it is the Exhibitor s responsibility to contact the Show Secretary to make payment arrangements. 2 P a g e
A verification email will be made upon the processing of the entry. It is the responsibility of the Exhibitor to make sure they have an entry confirmation number prior to show day, and to doublecheck their entry verification to make sure that all entries are correct. CHECK-IN/NPIP/STATE INSPECTION State Inspectors will be on-site for blood testing on the following dates: Friday, November 17 th from 4-8 P.M. Saturday, November 18 th from 6-8 A.M. No birds will be allowed in the arena without being blood tested or the presentation of current and valid NPIP documentation. If you have an NPIP certified flock, you must bring documentation of testing (NPIP care or testing documents) with you, or your birds will need to be tested prior to admission to the show. NO EXCEPTIONS. It is recommended that exhibitors arrive at 6 A.M. on Saturday if your birds need to be tested. Please do not wait until the last minute to have this done. Failure to check-in with the State Inspectors and the Show Secretary prior to bringing in birds into the show area may result in disqualification from the show. Anyone bringing a bird onto the show grounds, even if they are for sale and not being entered in the show, must follow the bio-security rules listed in the rules page. Any birds showing any signs of illness will be promptly removed from the Showroom. No exceptions. SHOW RULES 1. The AgFest Poultry Committee reserves the right to substitute and/or add judges if necessary. All judge s decisions are final. 2. This poultry show is open to all Bantam, Large Fowl, Waterfowl, Turkey, and Guinea breeds as defined by the APA and ABA unless permission has been obtained from the show superintendent. 3. This poultry show is open to COMMERCIAL LAYERS. The following Commercial Layers will be accepted: Sex Links, White Leghorns, Rhode Island Reds, Plymouth Rocks, and Buff Opringtons. Birds in the Commercial Class will be judged for their laying abilities only. 4. The terms COCK (C), HEN (H), COCKEREL (K), AND PULLET (P) are defined as in the APA Standard. 5. Trios will be accepted. Old Trio will consist of 1 Cock and 2 Hens. Young Trio will consist of 1 Cockerel and 2 Pullets. Males contribute 50% and females must be closely matched for trio judging. Caging will be done by youth exhibitor after bird judging is done, and will be announced so youth exhibitor can move their birds to caging area. 6. Birds will be judged under the rules of the ABA and APA, whichever apply. 7. Youth Showmanship will follow the Youth Exhibition Poultry Association (YEPA) rules. 3 P a g e
8. Due to show setup timelines, all entry deadlines in these rules will be strictly enforced. 9. All entries must be paid prior to the registration deadline unless special permission has been granted by the Show Secretary. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis and the AgFest Poultry Committee reserves the right to deny an entry if payment has not been made by the deadline. 10. No refunds will be given, including if an exhibitor does not show or brings less birds than entered. 11. Sale cages will be $2 each and limited to 3 birds per cage for show exhibitors and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Non-exhibitors will be charged $5 each per cage with a limit of 3 birds per cage. Anyone bringing a bird onto the show grounds, even if they are for sale and not being entered in the show, must follow the biosecurity rules listed below. 12. Failure to check-in with the State Inspectors and the Show Secretary prior to cooping in the birds may result in disqualification from the show. 13. All birds must be cooped in by 8:45 A.M. Saturday morning. Judging will begin promptly at 9:00 A.M. No birds will be allowed to be cooped in after judging has started. 14. No one will be allowed in closed aisles during the judging except for the judges, show clerks, and show staff. Please do not talk to the judges during judging, including Champion Row. 15. Do not feed or distract the birds while the judge is in the aisle. 16. The AgFest Poultry Committee will not be responsible for loss or accident to persons or their birds. 17. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the or in the show building or on the show grounds. No smoking is allowed inside of or directly in front of the poultry area. 18. Handle only your own birds unless permission of the owner is given. 19. We ask that youth exhibitors coop and groom their own birds. If assistance from an adult is required, we ask that the youth help as much as possible. Adults may not coop in youth birds without the youth exhibitor physically present with them. 20. Anyone except for show staff caught taking birds or eggs from someone else s coop without permission will be asked to leave the premises. 21. No birds will be released until judging is complete and show champion is chosen. Cooping out of birds before judging is complete will be considered a disqualification. 22. Awards will be given out after the judging is complete. We ask that birds are not cooped out until all the awards have been given out. 23. Any matter that is not covered by show rules will be decided by the show superintendent and all decisions are final. Bio Security Rules: 1. Bio-Security rules apply to all birds present on the show grounds. This includes show birds and sale birds. 4 P a g e
YOUTH SHOWMANSHIP GENERAL RULES 1. All Exhibitors are required to be clean and neat and properly dressed. White button down shirts and black pants or dark blue jeans are appropriate. Judging Jackets are also acceptable along with FFA or 4-H Uniforms. 2. Age divisions are as follows (This is the age the exhibitor is the day of the show. We follow Youth Exhibition Poultry Association (YEPA) Sanctioning Rules.): Pre-Juniors Junior Intermediate: Senior: 7 Years old and under; 8-10 Years Old; 11-13 Years Old; 14-18 Years Old. This is a YEPA Sanctioned Showmanship. Exhibitors must be a YEPA Member prior to showmanship awards to receive designated showmanship points. OPEN YOUTH SHOW ONLY SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2017 PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST Age Divisions: Pre-Junior (age 5-7) Juniors (age 8 10), Intermediate (ages 11 13), Senior (ages 14 & older) DEADLINE: SHOW DELIVERY: during check-in: Friday, November 17 th from 4-8 P.M. Saturday, November 18 th from 6-8 A.M. (NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE) Who May Enter: Open to all YEPA members only. Dues must be current at the time of the show. Parental Involvement: Parental supervision is allowed but please the member must do the actual hands on work. Please let your children do the work and earn their own achievement. Signature: All photography must be signed on the back of the photo in the upper left hand corner with the child s name, city/state, age. (Please print) Application: A completed application must be submitted with each photograph entered. Application must include the signature of the parent/guardian of the applicant. (See attached application) Attach a folded copy of the application on the back of each photo entered. Quantity: You may enter a maximum of two (2) photographs; an application must be submitted with each photo. Framing: DO NOT FRAME. Photos may be matted for stability. Subject Matter & Medium: Poultry related only. This must be an original photograph taken by a junior exhibitor. Photographs may be submitted in either black and white and/or color they will be judged in this one contest only. Size: Photo s should be 5 x 7. Judging: Judging will be Saturday, November 18th. Time to be announced. Judge s decision is final. Awards: First, Second, & Third Place in each age group. Disclaimer: We will not be responsible for photos damaged while on display at the show. Dues must be current at the time of the show. ALL ESSAYS MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE THE SHOW FOR JUDGING. AGE REQUIREMENTS: Juniors (8-10); Intermediate (11-13); & Senior (14 18) Rules: 1. Application required must be attached to essay. (see page 2) 2. Essay can be legibly handwritten or typed using 12-point font, double spaced, 1 inch margins. 3. Essay may contain up to 500 words. 4. Do not write your name on the front essay where it is visible to the judges. Attach the application form to your essay. (note: you may write your initials at the bottom of your essay for identification if the application becomes unattached) IF YOU do write your name on the front of the essay it will be automatically disqualified. 5. All submitted articles require signatures of the author and parents/guardians. Essay may be used in media publications at the discretion of YEPA. Please sign the release below and attach to your essay. 6. We recommend a delivery confirmation be purchased when postal mailing. 7.
