PAUSE FOR PAWS Winter 2013 Volume 6 Issue 1 A lot of dogs have bigger problems than just waiting for Santa to come. Many are homeless or without food or shelter. That s where we come in. We try to give hope to the animals who need it. We can t do it without your help. APSRC s sponsorship program enables animals to be adopted from the animal shelter or placed with rescue groups. We participate in adoption events at Petsen$e and Petco. We help current pet owners keep their pets when they fall on hard times. When possible we even assist with vet bills. Help us help them. Use the form at the back of this newsletter to donate.

APSRC Accomplishments in 2013 Thanks to the help of generous and compassionate donors and volunteers, APSRC has made a difference to Rockingham County s companion animals this year. Through the middle of November, APSRC has accomplished the following: Served as a member of the Advisory Board for the new Rockingham County Animal Shelter Reached out to our community - by attending expos, festivals and events all over the county Helped families in need by providing: o Food and litter to 35 families and a total of 198 pets o 8 bags of cedar shavings given o Provided 7 dog houses to dogs with no shelter o Medical assistance provided for 20 animals, some with life threatening illnesses. Boarding and vaccinations were provided for 2 animals whose owner was hospitalized Worked adoption fairs to place shelter animals in loving homes Assisted a feral cat colony by providing spay/neuter assistance and food Sponsored 331 dogs and cats to rescue groups or permanent homes o Most of these animals were sponsored by the Drive 4 Shelter project which began when the Rockingham County Animal Shelter was in the planning stages. After great success with raising funds for the shelter s future spay/neuter clinic, Drive 4 Shelter has continued to raise money and work diligently to place homeless dogs and cats in permanent homes.
