Homework 4/24-4/28 Due on Friday 4/28 The school play was just starting, but Mary was not there. She was the star of the play. Everyone was worried. Doris really got scared. She was supposed to fill in for Mary if anything happened. Doris had one small problem. She had not learned any of the lines. She never thought anything would happen to Mary. Doris looked at the play's lines and began to read. It was like trying to learn a different language. She went to the curtain and looked out. The gym was packed with people. The lights were bright. Her head spun as she got more and more nervous. Just as she was about to faint, someone caught her. "Oh, my! Doris, are you okay?" asked a girl. Doris looked behind her and saw Mary. But Athena's words had no effect on Medusa. Medusa replied coolly that her beauty made people happy. "Beauty does not last forever! There is more to life than beauty. I will teach you a lesson, for your pride is too great for a mere human like you," said Athena. With that, Medusa's face began to change into a monster. Her beautiful hair turned into long snakes.
