Jackal calling - using 3 calls I use a small rechargeable 12V battery to keep my call going all night! This is a new development through Feather & Fur, this caller is a MP3 remote control caller, it operates from a transmitter connected to a MP3 and the other part is as shown, with speaker, receiver ( below the amplifier in centre) and the unit is a budget version of an electronic, so if you haven t much to spend on a caller this system costs R1200-00. 00. See at the end of this article what all is included at R1200-00. 00. The above caller I made for myself, the signal frequency does not interfere with a Foxpro Spitfire, and the other calls like a Foxpro Fury you can change the frequency channel if it does anyway.
TRANSMITTER with MP3 REMOTE A quick intro to this caller, it is a simple but effective solution to expensive callers, callers, at R1200R1200-00 for a remote jackal caller is hardly much money at all. The caller is very loud with the amplifier of 50W and upwards and with the 15W cone speaker it is awesome. The TRANSMITTER takes one 9V battery, and the RECEIVER shown on right takes takes 2 penlights. Very simple but effective
THE SET UP and how to place the Calls. Those who know me know full well I am an advocate of calling with 2 calls at night, here are but a few links; http://www.africanpredator.com/secret.pdf tp://www.africanpredator.com/secret.pdf http://www.africanpredator.com/jakkals%20jag%20met%202%20 Roepers%20DECEMBER%202010.pdf http://www.africanpredator.com/jackal%20confusion%20plan%20w ith%20around%20sound.pdf http://www.africanpredator.com/art_a_overcalling.html http://www.africanpredator.com/jakkals_jag_plan.pdf http://www.africanpredator.com/jackal_hunting_confusion_plan.pdf However we can confuse the issue even more by using 3 calls, I typically use a Foxpro Spitfire, and a Foxpro Fury, I will be very honest and say I hardly ever use this style of calling ONLY if I am mainly cat calling. ling. I use two calls mostly BUT enjoy using 3 calls to create moving sound of an animal in distress. By making the rabbit move around creates more realism and it gets far more attention. This will cause confusion and if you hunt cats or jackal it will help. DON T place call to far from you for cats or you won t see the reflective eyes of the cat as he will look in the wrong direction. When you talk combinations it is important to match that specific time of the year to the jackals yearly cycle. This is all on our new DVD. http://www.africanpredator.com/art_geheime.html
LAYOUT The idea is to confuse a predator, to stop it smelling you and the bakkies diesel, and to get him to come in confused. Jackal / Cat calling with food Wind 30m Spitfire 30m Fury Bakkie Parked off the road Bakkie facing INTO the wind 30m Mp3 caller I always believe in playing jackal vocal sounds with food to create realism, but if you are in good cat areas try this to call both predators, chance it just using food. Play a scenario as follows, begin with the caller as far into the wind as possible, play distressed sound. DON T put callers to far from you for the cats, it is important or you won t see the reflection of eyes. NOTE this distance of the 3 calls, it is closer than the jackal hunts. Jackal hunts are 50-70-80m.
Let the call into the wind play distressed rabbit for 5 seconds, put it off a minute, then gooi again, wait half minute and then play the same sound on the call on your left, {remember to have the same sound on all 3 callers} Then play that once or twice and swop to the other caller, this sounds like the rabbit is moving around. If you see an animal approaching you can select what call to play to bring it in the correct direction to give you a better shot etc etc HOPE THIS HELPS! THE MP3 remote caller comes with; 1. CD for sound to load on MP3 or play on a cd walkman 2. Cable from Receiver to your amplifier 3. Transmitter 4. Cone 15W speaker You will need to purchase a tiny car amplifier at a shop and a small 12v battery, these sell at security shops both are very easy to find and buy. Best size amps are 50-100/150W Good hunting!
