Cloud Catcher Pty Ltd Ph: (02) 9606 5486 www.cloudcatcherlabradoodles.com Care Home Coordinator: sydney.ccatchers@gmail.com Labradoodle Care Home Registration Pack Cloud Catcher Labradoodles T/A Sun Catcher Labradoodles practices ethical and responsible breeding. We believe in a holistic, family focused, and kennel free environment for all of our dogs and puppies. Each breeding dog is homed with a local guardian family, then visits the Cloud Catcher property only when they are honeymooning and/or to have their puppies. The aim of the Care Home Program is to place our breeding Doods and Doodettes in loving home environments and to promote happy, healthy and much adored family pets. Whilst there is a dedicated team of dog carers on the property to provide visitors with all of the comforts of home, there is nothing a dog loves more than its very own family. This is where you come in! As a guardian family, you would care for one of our breeding dogs/puppies in your home as your own pet. You will be responsible for loving them, walking them, grooming them, making sure they have a good diet, vet check ups and a safe place to sleep and play, while they participate in their breeding program. WHAT IS REQUIRED AS A CARE HOME? To give you an idea of what is involved and required as a Care Home, the following is a summary of points that are covered in the breeding contract: If applicable, your puppy will require Vaccinating at 12 weeks of age. Please email/post a copy of this no later than two weeks after. At 5 months old and again at 12 months old your puppy will need to come to Cloud Catchers to have its photos taken. At 12 months old, your puppy will need to be booked into one of our vets to have a Hip and Elbow score completed at our cost. If the hip score is satisfactory, we will promote your dog into the breeding program. Any treatments administered to your dog need to be recorded on the Health Diary (provided). This diary also has a section where you can record important dates and appointments. Your puppy/dog will need to be registered with your local Council. FOR A FEMALE IN SEASON: Usually a female will come into season every 6-9months. Signs that your female is in season may include swelling, licking, sookiness (or doggy PMS!) and of course bleeding. You must notify us within the first 48 hours of your female coming into season (even if we are not breeding with her we need to know the dates for her records). This also gives the male care home plenty of notice that they will be required.
BREEDING: FEMALE: If we decide to breed with a female, we usually calculate mating days at Day 11 and 13 of her season. She will be required to come to the Cloud Catcher property on at least both of these days, or more if we deem necessary. On average, matings usually take about 1/2hr or so, and we ask that you wait and take her home with you when she is finished. We try to arrange times that will be appropriate for both care homes and staff, usually aiming for around 11-11:30am. MALE: Once a female comes into season we may require your male Labradoodle to visit Cloud Catchers for breeding. This occurs on day 11 and 13 of the female s season, so it is usually with about 1-2 weeks notice, and on both of the two days the female is available. How long is the breeding program for? On average, our breeding dogs are de-sexed and retire around the age of five, (for females when they have had four litters of at least four puppies, whichever is first). Once a dog is retired, they have no further obligation to the Cloud Catcher breeding program and they live out their lives of leisure with you as normal. Is there a cost involved? If you take on a breeding dog as a puppy, there will be a $250.00 deposit payable on collection (n/a for older dog). This deposit is refundable at the completion of the dog s breeding contract if all conditions are met. Of course there are also the normal dog related expenses, such as food, non-breeding related vet bills, local council registration etc. There is a certain level of responsibility with a breeding dog that you need to consider and discuss with each person of your household before you register your interest for the Care Home Program. By submitting the following form, you are registering your interest in the Care Home Program. There is no cost or obligation involved with registering, you will simply be added to the Database and contacted when a suitable puppy/dog becomes available for you. Please include an email address.
