About Seattle Humane SEATTLE HUMANE S mission is to promote the human-animal bond by saving and serving pets in need, and we ve been doing just that since 1897. We are an independent, donor-funded nonprofit animal welfare organization and we save nearly 7,000 abandoned, stray and surrendered pets in our community every year. We find loving homes for every healthy and adop animal who enters our doors, and we have no time limits on their stay. We are proud to serve the people and pets of King County with a variety of programs including adoptions, veterinary services, dog training classes, a pet food bank, and humane education for children of all ages. All healthy and adop companion animals are given as long as it takes for us to find them a home of their own, regardless of age, beauty or infirmity. In addition, we provide medical care and treatment for our shelter guests who need a little something extra to make them adop. Shelter guests are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, examined by one of our staff veterinarians, and temperament tested prior to being made available for adoption. The simple truth is that animals benefit greatly from what we do. But people benefit as well. We support and encourage the human/animal bond with programs that bring people and pets together and keep them together. This has been our commitment to our community for 119 years, and we couldn t do it without the generous support of sponsors like you. BRINGING PEOPLE AND PETS TOGETHER Adoptions of healthy and loving dogs, cats and critters MaxMobile brings adop pets to businesses and schools Visiting Pet Friends visit senior centers and other facilities KEEPING PEOPLE AND PETS TOGETHER Low-fee spay/neuter surgeries provided for pets in our community Pet Food Bank feeds pets of low-income pet owners Veterinary clinics serve pets of cancer patients and people disabled by AIDS Disaster and rescue services provided for pets in need EDUCATING PEOPLE AND PETS Training courses and seminars serve people and their pets MaxMobile brings humane education to local schools Animal Adventures Day Camp teaches kids every summer Humane Teen Club teaches teens to be active, communityminded volunteers
