Alan threw 540 more snowballs than James. How many snowballs did they throw altogether? There were some animals jumping on my creaky bed. There were 54 monkeys on my bed. There were 108 more lions than monkeys jumping on my bed. There were 54 fewer zebras than lions on my bed. What is the ratio of monkeys to lions to zebras on my bed?

Problem 11 Robert was a brave Canadian Mountie. He single-handedly caught a large number of terrorists, kidnappers and murderers last year. He nabbed altogether 224 terrorists. The number of kidnappers he apprehended was 128 fewer than the number of terrorists. He also arrested 64 more murderers than kidnappers. What is the ratio of terrorists to kidnappers to murderers that Robert captured? Problem 12 Peter, Simon and Alan wanted to go to the mall. Peter had $360. Simon had $72 less than Peter. Alan had $144 less than Simon. What is the ratio of Peter's money to Simon's money to Alan's money?

Problem 13 Jabalu goes to the Shakli School of Sorcery. The ratio of humans to elves in his class used to be 3 : 5. Last week 35 more humans enrolled in his class. The number of humans to elves was double after that. How many elves are in his class? Problem 14 The ratio of crocodiles to alligators in my bathtub used to be 3 : 4. Then my grandpa added 300 crocodiles to the bathtub on my birthday. There were half as many alligators as crocodiles in my bathtub after that. How many alligators are in my bathtub now?

Problem 15 Sam Shark and Bill Bull entered a casino in the morning and began to gamble. When they stopped for lunch and counted their money, they found that the ratio of Sam's winnings to Bill's winnings was 2 : 3. They resumed gambling after lunch. When they stopped just before dinner time, they found that Bill didn't win or lose any money after lunch. However, Sam won a further $245. The total of Bill's winnings for the day was 1/3 that of Sam's. How much money did the two friends win altogether? Problem 16 I was climbing up a mountain in Brazil last week. When it got too hot in the afternoon, I entered a cool cave and fell asleep there. When I woke up, my whole body was in pain. That was because a large number of centipedes and vampire bats had latched onto my body. The ratio of centipedes to bats stuck to my body was 3 : 14. I screamed so loudly that a further 28 centipedes from outside the cave crawled in and attached themselves to my nose. There were half as many centipedes as bats stuck to my body after that. How many creatures sucked my blood?

Problem 17 Dr. Droman and Dr. Ramby had a strange habit. Every time a patient of theirs died, they would remove the patient's brain, pickle it and store it in a jar. At the end of the year 2009 the number of brains that Dr. Ramby had collected to the number of brains that Dr. Droman had collected was in the ratio 3 : 7. Dr. Ramby was unhappy to have fewer brains than Dr. Droman so kind Dr. Droman gave Dr. Ramby 24 of his pickled brains. They had an equal number of brains after that. How many brains did they have altogether? Problem 18 John and Tom were fond of snakes so they kept a lot of snakes in their little cottages. In June, the ratio of John's snakes to Tom's snakes was 2 : 5. Tom gave John 24 snakes in July. They had an equal number of snakes after that. How many snakes did Tom have in the beginning?

Problem 19 Dr. Draminsky and Dr. Drobowski were sneaky surgeons. During surgery, if no one was looking, they would steal one eye from their patients. In August, they had collected a large number of eyeballs. The ratio of Dr. Draminsky's eyeballs to Dr. Drobowski's eyeballs was 2 : 7 at the end of September. Dr. Drobowski gave Dr. Draminsky 65 eyeballs the next day. They had the same number of eyeballs after that. How many eyeballs did Dr. Drobowski have before he gave away some of them?
