Puppy Walk For puppies of 4/6 months to be held during the break All puppies must be entered not for competition and an entry fee of 1.00 will be charged on the day. All proceeds go to MDC/DCM fund CROPPED DOGS 2017 TRIAL PERIOD The Midland Dobermann Club committee have agreed to support the Kennel Club s decision to allow cropped dogs into the precincts of Breed Club Shows for a trial period. UNDER THE SPECTATOR DOG RULE DOBERMANNS ONLY. Owners will be asked to complete an entry form at the show. All details of the dog and a declaration the dog is healthy will be signed for. Owners will be requested to keep their dogs under strict control at all times. The MDC retain the discretion to refuse entry of any dog if it appears unhealthy or is badly controlled. A charge will be payable on the day for each dog. We respectfully request owners to advise the Show Manager of their intentions prior to the Show date. Dogs entered as Spectator Dogs will not be covered by The MDC Insurance. The above policy will remain active until END OF 2017, when the policy will be revised. Extract From The Kennel Club Statement. It has been stated that a signi icant number of dogs are being imported into the UK from countries where both ear cropping and tail docking remain legal, and that these dogs are being used to create a larger and more diverse gene pool. The Committee was of the view that club shows present an opportunity to allow other breed enthusiasts to see these dogs and to assess their suitability for future use in breeding programmes:- MDC Committee In previous years the Kennel Club have persisted in their policy to refuse Cropped Dogs into shows and the Schedule de inition re lects this. The wording will remain in place until the Kennel Clubs decision on the outcome of this trial period. MDC Committee. April 2017 4

Veteran An Introduction to your Judge I have been involved in the showing and breeding of pedigree dogs for over 40 years, starting with Bulldogs, progressing to Rottweilers and then for the last 30 years, the breed I am probably best known for, Akitas. We have currently bred and /or owned 40 UK Akita Champions, won many Groups and BIS s in the UK, including Reserve BIS at Crufts 1999, and have bred No. 1 Akitas in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, South Korea, Norway, Sweden & Denmark and have Top Winners in many other countries. Our dogs have won Groups at Crufts, the World Show, the European Show and Westminster. As well as making Champions up in the above breeds, I have also owned the No. 1 Siberian Husky 1999 & 2000, handled Alaskan Malamutes, Bouviers, Giant Schnauzers and Bernese Mountain Dogs to their titles and won many Groups and Best in Shows. I am passed to judge both the Working Group and the Utility Group and will be judging the Working Group at Crufts 2018. I also award CC s in Akitas, Alaskan Malamute, Bernese Mountain Dog, Bouvier Des Flandres, Bulldogs, Giant Schnauzers, Miniature Schnauzers, Schnauzers, Rottweilers, Samoyeds and Shar Pei s. I have been judging Dobermanns at Open Show level for over 30 years and always enjoy the breed, so I am very much looking forward to judging at The Midland Dobermann Club Show. Dave Killilea 7

DEFINITION OF CLASSES In the following Definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the title of Champion under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. Show awards issued by the Irish Kennel Club which count towards the title of Champion, shall be five point Green Stars or more. Wins at Championship Shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as wins at Open Shows. In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members' classes or competing for Members' Specials, each partner must at the time of entry be a Member of the Society. In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of entries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e 13th January 2018. Wins in Variety Classes do not count for entry in breed Classes, but when entering for Variety Classes, wins in both Breed and Variety Classes must be counted. A Variety Class is one in which more than one Breed or a variety of a breed can compete. A First Prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value. If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, the exhibitor may choose one of the following options: (1) Withdrawal: The dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9 (j) and 20. 2) Transfer: (a) if a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its colour, sex, weight or height the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct colour, sex, weight or height and, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted to the Open class for the correct colour, sex, weight or height. (b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy class, Puppy class or Junior Class, which is over age but under twelve calendar months of age, eighteen calendar months of age or twenty four calendar months of age respectively, the Show Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy class, Junior class or Yearling class respectively for the correct colour, sex, weight or height or in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling class to the Open class for the correct colour, sex, weight or height. (c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open class for the correct colour, sex, weight and height. (d) If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog may not be transferred to any other class. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11. 15. Exhibitors should note that such practices could constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11. 9

16. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F. Regulation for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 17. All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show / event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor / competitor. 18. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do's and don'ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. - When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. - If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. - The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken with lots of water available to drink. - Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. - When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. - Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. - Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dogs welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. 19. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 20. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 21. Exclusion of Dogs. The Show Management may exclude or remove any dog which, in their opinion or that of the Judge, is not in a fit state for exhibition. 22. Fouling. Exhibitors are reminded of new Kennel Club Regulation F9 which requires removal as soon as possible of any fouling caused by their dogs at this Show and in the environs of the Showground. Exercise Area must be adhered to. 23. Should circumstances so dictate the Society, in consultation with the Judges, may alter arrangements as necessary. Such changes and the circumstances surrounding them must be reported to the Kennel Club. 24. Should any Judge be prevented from fulfilling his or her engagement the Committee reserve the right to appoint another Judge or Judges in their place. Exhibitors may withdraw from competition, but no entry fee can be returned. 25. No refunds will be given at this show. 26. Dogs with cropped ears are not permitted to attend KC Licenced events (including NFC and spectator dogs) 10
