Watch for your two (2) 2018 Landfill Passes in your interim tax bill. Keep them safe - a replacement pass will cost $10.00. It's Time to Renew your Dog Licence! The New Year is here and it is time to re-new your Dog Licence! Dog owners who have already purchased a Lifetime Dog Tag have received their invoice for their 2018 Dog Tag licence. Dog Licence fees are $15.00 until March 31st, 2018 and then the cost goes up to $25.00! If you have not yet purchased a Lifetime Dog Tag for your dog or if your dog's tag has been lost or needs to be replaced, new tags can be purchased for $10.00 each at the Municipal Office located at 1310 Centre Line. Animal Control and Pound Services are provided by the Peterborough Humane Society, located at 385 Lansdowne Street East. Their phone number is 705-745- 7676. The fees raised by Dog Licencing are used to offset the cost of this service to the Township. Winter Parking Regulations We remind everyone that there is no parking on all Township roads overnight during the winter season to allow for safe and effective snow clearing. Landfill Operating Hours The landfill site at 1480 8th Line (County Road 18) is now operating on "Winter Hours". "Winter Hours" until Victoria Day Weekend: Tuesday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Remember that passes need to be presented each time you make a trip to the Landfill.

Ice Safety There are a number of water bodies in our Township and surrounding area. We want to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable winter. 3" or less - STAY OFF 4" - Ice fishing or other activities on foot 5" - Snowmobile of ATV 8" to 12" - Car or small pickup truck 12" to 15" - Medium truck Ice Thickness Guidelines - For new, clear ice only: Many factors other than thickness can cause ice to be unsafe. White ice or "snow ice" is only about half as strong as new clear ice. Free Public Skating Schedule

Toddlertime A special program for children 19-36 months of age, this 30 minute program is full of active sharing of books, fingerplays, games and songs for you and your toddler. Silver Birch Registration Opens The Silver Birch Reading Club for grades 3 to 6 is offered at all three Selwyn Library branches. The program runs every second week after school from the end of January to April. Monday & Wednesday at Bridgenorth Library, Tuesdays at Lakefield Library, Thursday at Ennismore Library. Online registration will open the first week of January. For more information on specific dates and times, please visit the Selwyn Library website. Saturday, February 3rd - PolarFest Family Event! In partnership with the Peterborough Family Resource Centre (PFRC), join us on Saturday, February 3rd from 10:30 AM - 12 Noon at the Lakefield Library for a morning of fun activities for young children ages birth to 5 years. Activities include: crafts, baby play, stories, songs, snack and a puppet play! Adult Programs Thursday, January 25th - Poetry Night At 7:00 PM at the Lakefield Library, read a poem, recite a poem, or simply listen to poetry. It will be a comfortable, open evening to discuss and enjoy poetry of all kinds. All are welcome! Drop-in, no registration required. One-on-One Tablet & ipad Setup Did you get a new tablet or ipad over the holidays? Let the library help you get started! We will help with setup including: date, time, apple ID & password, Google account, and all the basics to get you started.
