FSS breeds are denoted with an asterisk. JC TEST RUNS: Open to all eligible breeds. A hound, at least 12 months of age, running alone shall receive a certification from a Judge on one date and a second certification from a different Judge at a later date, stating that the hound completed a 600 yard course with a minimum of four (4) turns. The hound must complete the course with enthusiasm and without interruption. QC TEST RUNS: Open to all eligible breeds. A hound at least 12 months of age (Qualifying Hound) running with another hound of the same breed or another breed with a similar running style (Partner Hound) shall receive certification from a licensed judge, stating that the hound completed a 600 yard course with a minimum of four (4) turns. The hound must complete the course with enthusiasm and without interruption. The handler presenting the Qualifying Hound shall be responsible for providing the Partner Hound for the test. It is recommended that every Qualifying Hound practice with other hounds prior to being presented for a QC test. 9:30am & 1:00pm COURSING ABILITY TESTS ELIGIBLE BREEDS AND REGISTRY: Coursing Ability Tests are open to all dogs at least 12 months of age that are individually registered with the AKC, recorded in the Foundation Stock Service (FSS) program, individually registered with a foreign or domestic registry organization whose pedigrees are acceptable for AKC registration, dogs granted a Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL) number, dogs with AKC Limited or Conditional Registration, or dogs enrolled in the AKC Canine Partners program. Dogs with breed disqualifications are eligible to enter. Females in season may not enter. A dog may enter only once per event. JC/QC Tests are limited to. 20 entries CATs are limited to 50 entries for each event
COURSING ABILTY TEST Dogs run singularly. Veteran dogs are defined for this test as dogs older than 7 years of age. Veteran dogs may run two-thirds of the normal distance at the owner s discretion. A veteran dog s owner must declare prior to the start which distance the dog will run. 300 YARD COURSE: This distance is for dogs shorter than 12 inches at the withers and/or brachycephalic ( flat-faced ) dogs. A veteran dog may run 200 yards at the owner s discretion. A dog must complete this course in less than 1.5 minutes. 600 YARD COURSE: This distance is used for all dogs that do not run the 300 yard course. A veteran dog may run 400 yards at the owner s discretion. A dog must complete this course in less than 2 minutes. RIBBONS AND TROPHIES > Orange qualifying ribbons are awarded to dogs passing their test. > Green and white rosettes are awarded to dogs earning the CA title. > Purple, green, and hot green rosettes are awarded to dogs earning the CAA title. > Achievement medals are awarded to dogs earning the CAX title. ENTRY INFORMATION 1. Dogs not present at the time of roll call will be scratched after a 5 minute grace period. 2. Each entry will be examined at inspection for soundness. 3. Bitches in season and lame dogs will be excused and have their entry fees refunded. 4. Spayed and neutered dogs may be entered. OPERATIONAL INFORMATION 1. Gas powered continuous loop lure machines will be used. The lures will consist of plastic strips. Backup equipment will be available. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Please bring your own food, shade and water. 2. A restroom will be available. 3. No one, except Field Committee members, will be allowed on the field without the expressed permission of the Field Committee. 4. A $5 fine will be assessed for loose dogs during courses in progress. 5. Anyone failing to clean up their dogs waste will be excused from the field for the day. 6. Anyone exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct will be excused from the field for the day. 7. SASC assumes no liability for injury to any person or dog before, during or after the tests.
