Vnučec Selekcija mliječnih pasmina ovaca donedavno je uglavnom bila usmjerena na povećanje mliječnosti i izlučivanje grla s visokom brojem somatskih stanica u mlijeku. U posljednje vrijeme, u zemljama s razvijenim mliječnim ovčarstvom javlja se sve veći interes za dodavanjem drugih u selekciji važnih funkcionalnih osobina, poput primjerice morfoloških odlika vimena. Prva primijenjena metoda subjektivne procjene ovčjeg vimena bila je klasifikacija ovaca prema obliku ili tipu vimena. Međutim, zbog relativno malog raspona tipova vimena (četiri kategorije) navedena klasifikacija nije omogućavala analizu podataka s kontinuiranom skalom te procjenu genetskih pokazatelja i uzgojnih vrijednosti grla linearnim modelima. U posljednjih desetak godina u svijetu se, usporedno sa širom primjenom strojne mužnja, u provedbi selekcije i uzgojnih programa u različitih mliječnih pasmina ovaca primjenjuje linearno ocjenjivanje (linear scoring) glavnih morfoloških odlika vimena (dubina vimena, kut sisa, dužina sisa i oblik vimena). Objektivno mjerenje morfoloških odlika vimena ovaca je vrlo sporo i naporno te stoga nije rutinsko u mliječnim stadima i uglavnom se provodi u znanstvenim istraživanjima u cilju utvrđivanja povezanosti s proizvodnjom mlijeka i drugim proizvodnim odlikama. Ključne riječi: morfologija vimena, ovčje mlijeko, mužnja Uvod Mliječna žlijezda ili mamma, bitan je organ svih ovaca, bez obzira na namjenu, odnosno proizvodni cilj. Izgled, odnosno veličina i oblik vimena najpouzdanija su vanjska oznaka mliječnosti životinje. Međutim, za uzgajivača, odnosno selekcionara poželjan oblik i izgled vimena nije jednoznačno određen. On je prvenstveno određen proizvodnim ciljem i pasminom. U pasmina i grla namijenjenih proizvodnji mesa i držanju ovaca na paši, osobito na lošim, nepristupačnim i zakorovljenim pašnjacima, poželjno je dobro pričvršćeno i ne previše obješeno vime kako bi bilo što manje izloženo ozljedama. Pravilno razvijeno i zdravo vime u tipičnih mliječnih pasmina ovaca (npr. istočnofrizijska, avasi, asaf i dr.) koje se većinom muze strojno treba (Caja i sur., 2000): - imati velik obujam ili volumen i okrugao oblik; - biti dobro pričvršćeno (vezano) za trbuh; - biti osrednje dubine, ne prelazeći visinu skočnog zgloba; - imati osrednje velike sise (dužina i promjer), gotovo uvijek vertikalno položene; - imati meko i elastično tkivo, s opipljivim žljezdanim cisternama; - imati izražen intermamarni žlijeb. U zemljama s razvijenim mliječnim ovčarstvom (Italija, Španjolska, Francuska i dr.) u posljednjih nekoliko godina počelo se s kreiranjem uzgojnih programa kojima je cilj povećanje mliječnosti ovaca, ali bez posljedično nepovoljnog utjecaja na morfologiju i zdravlje vimena (Rovai i sur., 1998). Naime, navedeni cilj nije jednostavno ostvariti budući da se s povećanjem proizvodnje mlijeka linearno povećava volumen vimena, a samim time i pritisak na suspenzorni sustav vimena (McKusick, 2000). Suspenzorni sustav vimena sastoji se od širokih listova lateralnih i medijalnih suspenzornih ligamenata koji se spuštaju od zdjelice i dijele vime na dvije anatomski i fiziološki odvojene polovice (Turner, 1952).. Zbog stalne težnje za sve većom proizvodnjom mlijeka, masa vimena postaje prevelika te ju suspenzorni sustav ne može izdržati pa se sve češće pojavljuju slučajevi njegove rupture. Navedeno bitno skraćuje proizvodni vijek životinje, te nepovoljno utječe na prikladnost vimena strojnoj mužnji. S obzirom da je u posljednjih nekoliko godina u selekciji mliječnih pasmina ovaca sve više izražen trend uključivanja morfoloških odlika vimena, cilj ovog rada prikazati glavne metode procjene i mjerenja morfoloških odlika ovčjeg vimena. 236 STOČARSTVO 62:2008 (3) 235-243

Ocjena vimena prema tipu ili obliku Prva praktična klasifikacija ovaca na temelju prikladnosti vimena strojnoj mužnji provedena je u pasmina Awassi i Assaf (Sagi i Morag, 1974; Jatsch i Sagi, 1978), Sarda (Casu i sur., 1978) i Manchega (Gallego i sur., 1983). S obzirom na oblik vimena, odnosno visinu mliječne cisterne i položaj (kut) sisa, u navedenih pasmina ovaca provedena je subjektivna klasifikacija (procjena) vimena na četiri osnovna oblika ili tipa, kao što je prikazano na slici 1. UDDER TYPES IN AWASSI AND ASSAF Tipu I i II pripadaju vimena s horizontalno (ili gotovo horizontalno) položenim sisama, dok su u vimena tipa IV sise vertikalno položene, a u vimena tipa III kut sisa je između 0 i 90º. Podužna brazda intermamarnog žlijeba (Sulcus intermammarius) najizraženija je (vidljiva s kaudalne strane vimena) u vimena tipa III i IV, u vimena tipa II je slabije izražena, dok u vimena tipa I nije zamjetna. Radi vertikalnog položaja sisa strojnoj mužnji najprikladniji su tipovi vimena IV i III. S povećanjem dobi ovaca ujedno se povećava i učestalost nepoželjnih oblika vimena (tip I), odnosno sise se pomiču prema gore (horizontalno), dok je intermamarni žlijeb sve manje uočljiv. Navedena klasifikacija prema obliku vimena kasnije je prilagođena pasmini Latxa (Aranz i sur., 1989), mađarskom merinu (Kukovics i Nagy, 1989) i pasmini sarda (Carta i sur.,1999) u koje je utvrđeno postojanje sedam tipova ovčjeg vimena. Prednost ove metode klasifikacije vimena jest u tome što nije zahtjevna, brzo se provodi te je vrlo ponovljiva (Carta i sur., 1999). Međutim, zbog relativno malog raspona ocjena (kategorija) vimena, navedeni način ocjenjivanja ne omogućava analize podataka s kontinuiranom skalom i procjenu genetskih parametara i uzgojnih vrijednosti linearnim (BLUP) modelima. Izmjere morfoloških odlika vimena Nasuprot subjektivnoj klasifikaciji vimena prema obliku, od devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća, osobito u znanstvenim istraživanjima, koriste se i objektivne metode izmjera morfoloških odlika ovčjeg vimena. Mjerenje morfoloških odlika ovčjeg vimena vrlo je sporo i naporno, odnosno zahtjeva čak 15-20 minuta po ovci te stoga rijetko uključuje velik broj grla (provedba uzgojnih programa i selekcija) nego se najčešće provodi u znanstvenim istraživanjima osobito radi utvrđivanja povezanosti između morfologije vimena i proizvodnje mlijeka (Casu i sur., 1989; McKusick i sur., 2000; Kukovics i sur., 2004; Emediato i sur., 2008) i drugih proizvodnih odlika (npr. količina i sadržaj mliječne masti i proteina u mlijeku) mliječnih ovaca (McKusick i sur., 1999; Volanis i sur., 2002). Metodologiju mjerenja vimena razvili su Labussière i sur. (1983) dok su je Gallego i sur. (1983) i Fernández i sur. (1995) neznatno korigirali radi brže i jednostavnije provedbe. Glavne morfološke odlike vimena (Slika 2) mogu se grupirati na one koje se odnose na: 1) dimenzije vimena: visina, širina i opseg; 2) dimenzije sisa: dužina i širina; i 3) kut sisa i visinu mliječne cisterne. Uz visinu cisterne i kut sisa na prikladnost ovčjeg vimena strojnoj mužnji znatno utječe i položaj sisa koje se subjektivno ocjenjuje (ocjenama od 1 do 5), pogledom sa strane pri čemu: ocjena 1 označava sise položene prema unatrag; ocjena 2 = okomito položene; 3 = malo pomaknute naprijed; 4 = pomaknute naprijed; 5 = položene jako prema naprijed. Vertikalan položaj sisa (ocjena 2) i što je moguće manji kut sise, omogućuju olakšano i brzo izmuzivanje mlijeka. Sise smještene pod širokim kutom (70º i više) u odnosu na okomitu središnju os vimena otežavaju i usporavaju strojnu mužnju zbog učestalog spadanja sisnih čaški. Tablica 1. Veličina, oblik i razvijenost vimena genetski su određeni (Fernández i sur., 1997) i imaju važnu ulogu u skladištenju mlijeka između dviju mužnji (Labussiére, 1988; Marnet i sur., 1999; Rovai i sur., 2000). Morfološke odlike vimena nekih mediteranskih mliječnih pasmina ovaca (npr. Manchega, Lacaune, Churra) temeljito su istražene i postale su važna svojstva na kojima se vrši selekcija i provedba uzgojnih programa. U tablici 1. su prikazane prosječne vrijednosti nekih morfoloških odlika vimena u različitih pasmina ovaca. Linearno ocjenjivanje vimena ovaca (Linear scoring) Kako bi utvrđivanje morfoloških osobina vimena bilo praktično provedivo i na velikom broju ovaca, posljednjih desetak godina u zemljama s razvijenim mliječnim ovčarstvom i zastupljenom strojnom mužnjom primjenjuje se linearno ocjenjivanje vimena (linear scoring). Prednosti linearnog ocjenjivanja (Wilson, 1979) nad ranije opisanim metodama su: - svojstva se ocjenjuju pojedinačno, a ne u kombinaciji; - raspon ocjena pokriva biološki raspon svojstva; - koristi se široki raspon ocjena (od 1 do 9); - ocjenjivači svojstva samo linearno opisuju, a ne procjenjuju njegovu poželjnost; - linearno ocjenjivanje omogućuje analize s kontinuiranom skalom i procjene genetskih parametara i uzgojnih vrijednosti linearnim (BLUP) modelima. Prema navodima de la Fuente i sur. (1996) bitne su četiri osobine ovčjeg vimena za procjenu njegove prikladnosti strojnoj mužnji; to su: dubina vimena, kut sisa, dužina sisa te oblik vimena kao kompleksna osobina na koju najviše utječu povezanost vimena i položaj sisa (Tablica 2). U linearnom sustavu ocjenjivanja, poželjnost nekog svojstva nije jednoznačno određena. Naime, u nekim slučajevima poželjna jest najviša ocjena 9 jer vertikalno položene sise koje su ocjenjene s 9 bodova olakšavaju i skraćuju vrijeme potrebno za mužnju radi rjeđeg spadanja sisnih čaški muznog uređaja, dok je u nekih drugih osobina poželjna srednja ocjena 5 budući da sise osrednje dužine svojom veličinom najbolje odgovaraju veličini sisnih čaški većine današnjih uređaja za mužnju ovaca. 240 STOČARSTVO 62:2008 (3) 235-243

METHODS OF EVALUATION AND MEASURING OF EWE UDDER MORPHOLOGY TRAITS Summary Recently, in countries with high sheep milk production interest has been increasing functional traits such as udder morphology. The first practical utilization of udder morphology on dairy sheep was made using tables of udder typology. Classification by types is at disadvantage because BLUP methods are less suited for estimating genetic values for the non-continuous traits involved in these analyses. With the increasing implementation of milking machines, a subjective appraisal of some elementary udder traits (udder depth, teat angle, teat length, udder shape) on the basis of a linear scale was implemented. Different authors have undertaken the use of objective measurements for the characterization of the dairy sheep udder and for the study of the relations with milk yield or other productive traits since the development of machine milking. The use of objective measurements is based on several measures performed directly on each animal and as a consequence it shows some drawbacks such as low speed, laboriousness and expense in personnel making its application infeasible for commercial farms.
