Introduction Wonoka, based at Kapunda in the lower mid-north of South Australia, was founded in 1994 as a Wiltshire Horn stud and began a Wiltipoll breeding program in 1996. With the phasing out of Wiltshire Horns from its program, the development of Wonoka s wool shedding composites began in 2008. The breeds used in the development of Wonoka s Wiltipolls and Composites to date have included White Dorper, Poll Dorset, White Suffolk, Perendale and in recent years Ultra Whites. Management & nutrition All lambs were bred at Kapunda, SA, born predominantly in July/August, and weaned in early November, 2016. Following a wet spring in 2016, seasonal conditions at Kapunda were dry for the start of the sowing season, until reasonable falls of rain were received in late July and August 2017. The rams did most of their growth early which enabled them to get through a very dry winter after which time they have been finished on ryegrass/clover pastures. Lupins have been fed weekly from mid-september. The rams offered at this year s sale include four new lines of composite genetics which were introduced in 2016. Flock health status Lambs were vaccinated with 6:1 with B 12 and selenium as well as Gudair at marking in August 2016 and with Weanerguard with selenium and B 12 at weaning in November 2016. All ewes are vaccinated with Eweguard and Campyvax annually and Deposel biannually. Eweguard is administered 4 weeks pre-lambing and Campyvax at joining. Sheep are not routinely drenched. Wonoka is accredited Brucellosis Free (Acc. No 1075) OJD vaccination program(gudair) commenced in 2004 Summary Brucellosis: Accreditation no. 1075 OJD: Approved vaccinates (vaccination program commenced 2004) AWA Wiltipoll Flock No: 3 ABN No: 26 317 143 524 Page 3

Introduction Jayvee Farm Wiltipoll Stud, Bute, SA was established in 2009. Our foundation flock began with a Coolamon Park Ram and 7 Jutland Valley Ewes. In 2011 Wonoka ewes were added to the flock along with a Carthona Ram from NSW. Further genetics were added in 2012 with the introduction of Munna ewes and a Munna ram also from NSW, and again in 2015 when we purchased a Wonoka ram. Our aim is to breed a heavy framed, clean shedding, fast growing meat sheep. In 2012 we purchased White Suffolk ewes and commenced a composite flock using our Wiltipoll rams. Our first cross produced large framed progeny, some with strong shedding signs. We now have 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th cross progeny on the ground with full shedding occurring in some of the 2 nd cross ewes. In 2013, Wonoka composite ewes with Dorper and Wiltipoll bloodlines were added to the flock. A full shedding composite Wonoka ram with Poll Dorset, Dorper & Wiltipoll bloodlines was added to the breeding program in 2014. We are very pleased with our progress with the composite flock knowing that we can have some of the progeny on the ground as early as May/June. In 2016 a new Ultra White ram from WA was introduced into the breeding program. Management & nutrition All lambs were bred at Bute, SA, predominantly lambing in August, weaning occurring November/December 2016 and our sheep predominately are fully shed by early spring.. After a wet spring in 2016, the 2017 sowing season and winter were dry. The rams were supplementary fed during the dry period with vetch hay, barley and lentils. By late August, conditions improved and since then the rams have been grazing Moby barley with a small amount of barley/lentil supplementation. Flock health status Lambs were injected with Glanvac 6 in 1 with B 12 at marking late Sept/early Oct 2016 and Weanerguard at weaning, early December 2016 All ewes were injected 6 weeks prior to lambing with Glanvac 6 in 1 and are drenched annually Sale rams have been drenched in January 2017 and injected with Glanvac 6 in 1 October 2017 Jayvee Farm is accredited Brucellosis Free. Introduction Spring Creek Wiltipoll Stud, Marrabel, SA was established in 2006. The foundation flock consisted of Wonoka Wiltshire Horn ewes with Kars rams. Over the years Kars and Coolamon Park ewes have been added with Wonoka rams for large frame, clean shedding, fast growing meat sheep with high fertility and good temperament. Spring Creek sire 36/10 was used in the 2014 joining; as he was tested as a double polled, was a twin, was an exceptional fast grower and has great conformation. Wonoka 6512/12 was introduced in 2014 for his excellent conformation, growth and size. Management All lambs were bred at Marrabel, SA and predominantly lamb in August to September with weaning in early December. Flock health status Lambs were vaccinated with 6 in 1 with selenium + B 12 at marking and with Weanerguard 6 in 1, selenium and B 12 25/10/15 before weaning Rams and ewes were vaccinated with Eweguard pre-lambing Spring Creek is accredited brucellosis free (Accreditation No: 1204) Summary Brucellosis: Accreditation No. 1204 Wiltipoll Flock No: 154 ABN: 16 583 865 695 2016 on-farm sale underway Spring Creek pen in the foreground Page 8
