December 3 & 4, 2016 HTAD Course 5 Sheep GENERAL RULES: Time 10 minutes for HTAD I & II, 12 minutes for HTAD III. Ties are broken based on individual scores in the following order: Exercise 5 Figure 8 Panels, Exercise 2 Reverse Z, Time. 1. GATHER 15 pts.: Exercise begins when the dog is sent to gather the sheep. Team should move to the location appropriate for their level. Gather the sheep and move to the Handler s Post. Exercise ends when sheep have moved behind the Handler s Post. HTADI Dog may be positioned half way to sheep, the Handler may move to within 15 of stock. HTADII Dog will be positioned at the Handler s Post, the Handler may move half way to stock. HTADIII Dog and handler will be positioned at the Handler s Post. 2. REVERSE Z 15 pts.: Exercise begins when sheep have moved behind the Handler s Post. Team shall move the sheep through the Reverse Z. Exercise ends when sheep exit the Reverse Z obstacle. 3. HOLD 10 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep exit the Reverse Z Obstacle. Team should move sheep to the marker indicating the hold area. In the open, the dog should independently hold the sheep to the handler. Exercise ends when the Judge calls the Hold. 4. REVERSE Y 15 pts.: Exercise begins when the Judge calls the Hold. Move sheep through the Reverse Y. Exercise ends when sheep have exited the Reverse Y. 5. FIGURE 8 PANELS 15 pts.: Exercise begins when sheep have exited the Reverse Y. Move sheep through the Figure 8 Panels as drawn on the diagram. Then move sheep to the cone by P1. Exercise ends when sheep have moved behind the cone by P1. HTADI Handler may move anywhere including between the panels. HTADII/III Handler may not move between the panels. 6. FETCH/DRIVE HTADI/II: 10 pts. HTADIII: 15 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep have moved behind the cone. Fetch/Drive the sheep across the arena towards the Level II Drive Marker. Then continue to move the sheep to the Level III Drive Marker. Exercise ends when sheep arrive at the Level III Drive Marker. HTADI Handler may move anywhere. HTADII Handler stays anywhere behind the Level II Drive Marker until the sheep have gone past the Level III Drive Marker. HTADIII Handler stays behind the Level III Handler s Line until the sheep reach the Level III Drive Marker. 7. REPEN HTADI/II ONLY: 10 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep arrive at the Level III Drive Marker. All Teams shall move the sheep to P2, hold stock off gate, and re-pen. Exercise ends when the gate to P2 is closed. 8. GATE SORT & REPEN HTADIII ONLY: 15 pts.: Exercise begins when sheep arrive at the Level III Drive Marker. Team shall move the sheep to P2. They shall pen 2 sheep, briefly close the gate and then pen the remainder of the sheep. Exercise ends when all the sheep have been penned in P2

December 3 & 4, 2016 HRD Sheep GENERAL RULES: Time 15 minutes. In all elements, quiet efficient stock work is essential. All elements must be attempted prior to moving on. All gates may be open/closed or pre-set at the Handler s discretion to increase safety. Ties are broken based on individual scores in the following order: Exercise 6 Pens, Exercise 4 Reverse Y, Time. STARTING SETUP: All gates must be returned to the starting positions. 5 Sheep in Stockyard, Groups of 5 sheep in Pens A/B with at least one empty pen. 1. GATHER 15 pts.: Exercise begins when the dog is sent to gather sheep. Team should move to the location appropriate for their level. Gather the sheep from the Stockyard and move them into P1. Exercise ends when sheep enter P1. HRDI Dog may be positioned just inside the stockyard gate, Handler may move to within 15 of stock. HRDII Dog and handler may begin just inside stockyard gate. HRDIII Dog and handler begin at the Handler s Post. Handler may leave the post when stock enters P1. 2. CHUTE HRDI/II: 10 pts. HRDIII: 15 pts.: Exercise begins when sheep enter P1. The team shall move the sheep into the chute. While sheep are in chute put a ribbon around one sheep. Once sheep have their appropriate ribbons on, move sheep through P2 and into Arena A. Exercise ends when sheep are in Arena A and the gate between P2 and Arena A is closed. HRDI/II Put ribbon on 1 sheep. HRDIII Put ribbon on 2 sheep. 3. PANEL (PASS 1) 10 pts.: Exercise begins when sheep are in Arena A and the gate between P2 and Arena A is closed. Move sheep through the Panel. Exercise ends when the sheep clear the Panel obstacle. 4. RIBBON PULL HRDI/II: 10 pts. HRDIII: 15 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep clear the Panel obstacle. Move sheep to cone and pull the ribbon off the sheep near the cone. Exercise ends when all ribbons have been pulled off sheep. HRDI/II Pull ribbon off 1 sheep. HRDIII Pull ribbon off 2 sheep. 5. REVERSE Y 10 pts.: Exercise begins when all ribbons have been pulled off sheep. The team shall move the sheep through the Reverse Y. Exercise ends when sheep have exited the Y. 6. PANEL (PASS 2) 10 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep have exited the Y. The team shall move the sheep through the Panel. Then pen sheep in P2. Dog and handler should pass through P2 into the Narrow Alley without disturbing the livestock. Exercise ends when gate between P2 and Narrow Alley is closed. 7. PENS 15 pts.: Exercise begins when gate between P2 and Narrow Alley is closed. Handler should set gates as needed. Move sheep from P2 into the empty pen in Alley A/B. Then the team should take the sheep out of the next pen and move them through P2 and into Alley Pen. Exercise ends when sheep enter Alley Pen. 8. FETCH/DRIVE 10 pts.: Exercise begins when sheep enter Alley Pen. Move sheep from Alley Pen through P2, down the Narrow Alley, through P3, down the Footbath Alley, to P4. The dog shall hold the sheep in P4 until the Handler can open the gate to the stockyard. Exercise ends when the sheep are in the stockyard and the gate between P4 and the stockyard is closed. HRDI Handler may move anywhere. HRDII Handler stays in the Alley between P1 & P2 until sheep have reached P3, then may move anywhere. HRDIII Handler will stay in the Alley between P1 and P2 until sheep have reached P4, then the handler may move through P1 into the stockyard to access the P4 re-pen gate. Time ends when all gates have been returned to their starting position.

Ties are broken based on individual scores in the following order: Exercise 7 Obstacle #3, Exercise 8 Re-pen, Time. STARTING SET- UP: 25 sheep in free-standing Take Pen. 1. TAKE PEN 10 pts.: Exercise begins when the Handler opens the silver gate to the Take Pen. Remove the sheep from the pen. The dog should control the sheep while the handler closes the gate. Exercise ends when the Take Pen gate is closed. HRDI/II Remove the sheep from the pen. HRDIII Handler will place a ribbon on a sheep while the sheep are still in the pen. 2. OBSTACLE #1 15 pts.: Exercise begins when the Take Pen gate is closed. Move sheep along the marked path thru Obstacle #1. Exercise ends when all the sheep clear Obstacle #1. 3. OBSTACLE #2 15 pts.: Exercise begins when all the sheep clear Obstacle #1. Move the sheep toward the fence line road and through Obstacle #2. Exercise ends when all the sheep clear the Obstacle #2. 4. FETCH/DRIVE 15 pts.: Exercise begins when all the sheep clear Obstacle #2. Fetch/Drive the sheep to the Drive Marker. Exercise ends when the sheep pass the Driver Marker. HRDI Handler may move anywhere. HRDII Handler must remain behind the Level II Handler s Line. HRDIII Handler must remain behind the Level III Handler s Line. 5. GATHER 10 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep reach the Driver Marker. The dog will settle/hold the sheep at the Drive Marker until the handler reaches the position for the team s level. Once in position, the handler will recall the dog to them and then send the dog to gather the sheep. Exercise ends when the sheep reach the Level III Handler s Post. HRDI Dog is left halfway to the sheep, Handler may move within 15 feet of sheep HRDII Dog is left at the Handler s Post, Handler may go half way to sheep. HRDIII Dog and Handler begin at the Handler s Post. 6. RIBBON PULL HRDIII ONLY 10 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep reach the Level III Handler s Post. The handler will remove the ribbon from the sheep. Exercise ends when the ribbon is removed. 7. OBSTACLE #3 15 pts.: Exercise begins for Level I/II when the sheep reach the Level III Handler s Post or for Level III when the ribbon is removed. Team will move the sheep along the Cross road to the Bridge Road and through Obstacle #3. Exercise ends when the sheep clear Obstacle #3. 8. Exercise ends when all sheep have entered the pen and the gate is closed. Time stops when the pen gate is closed.
