SOFT CRATES The Kennel Club has drawn attention to the potential health and safety implications concerning the use of soft crates at shows as in its view, they do not offer sufficient protection to dogs. Soft crates left unattended at the ringside are a potential hazard particularly when occupied by large breeds, and it has been known for dogs to become distressed and move soft crates along the floor and also escape. Soft crates should only be used when there is sufficient room available and when they can be safely secured. Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification and should note that the original exhibit/bench number card, as provided by the show society, must not be used for this purpose. All exhibitors attending the show shall be responsible for all damage, losses, claims and expenses caused by or resulting from any acts or omissions of themselves and any child or children of theirs or children in his/her care, and shall fully indemnify the Club in respect of same. DOG FOULING Any owner, exhibitor handler or other person in charge of a dog is requested to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at a Kennel Club licenced show within the licenced venue and within the environs of that event including car parks & approaches. Adequate receptacles for the disposal of such fouling will be provided.

About us: The Society was formed by a group of Canine enthusiasts in the small mining town of Treharris. Established in 1934, Treharris Canine Society is one of the oldest societies in Wales offering help and guidance to all dog enthusiasts both old and new. In support of the Kennel Club s, Fit for Function, Fit for Life campaign the Society intends to have on hand knowledgeable people to assist the general public in improving their knowledge of Breeds, i.e. appearance, characteristics, temperament, coat colour, size, life expectancy etc. We generally hold two shows a year consisting of a limit show and a general show. As a non profit organisation it is important to remember that Treharris & District Canine Society is run by volunteers that take no monies from the club. Every penny is ploughed back into the society, this enables us to bring you seminars & shows at a fair price. We are all local & we do this for the love of dogs, we take no monies from the club. Our aim is solely to keep the club running for old & new members alike. We charge the rate of 2.50 per dog & 1.00 for every dog thereafter; this covers the cost of our hall, which we must say is rather impressive! We hold seminars, all at cost price for the benefit of our members & their dogs. Like what you have read & interested in joining us, please contact us we are waiting to hear from you.

Raffle: This year we have an extra special raffle prize featuring Yankee Candle with a retail value of 100 rrp. This special prize basket is crammed full of wonderful products for the home. Including Yankee Candle Spiced Orange, Christmas cookie, wild fig Christmas garland & much more! One lucky person will win the hamper, there will also be a basket for the runner up, surely one not to be missed. About the show: Come along & join us for a Christmas show with a difference, there will be minced pies & mulled wine! Along with a host of items for your perusal from Crafts to Pet there will be something for all. The committee reserves the right to alter the order of judging to facilitate the smooth running of the Show. CLASSIFICATION Classes are for dog or bitch unless otherwise stated Judges Ms. A. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take

all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Exhibitors will be at liberty to withdraw their dogs from competition under such circumstances but no entry fees will be returned. 22. DOG FOULING: Any owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is requested to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dogs. 23. RESPONSIBILITY: It should be distinctly understood by exhibitors and purchasers of dogs at the show and all other persons that the Committee will not be responsible for the entire or partial loss or detention of or damage to dogs or any other property whether arising from accident or any other cause whatsoever, or from any act or omission of themselves or their Officers, servants, agents or others. It is on this understanding only that entries are accepted. 24. All Rules and Regulations or definitions or instructions in the nature of Rules and Regulations printed for convenience in other parts of this schedules shall be deemed to form part of these Rules and Regulations. Should any question arise which is not provided in these regulations the decision of the Committee shall be final subject to appeal to the Kennel Club. 25.Soft Crates: The Kennel Club has drawn attention to the potential health and safety implications concerning the use of soft crates at shows as in its view, they do not offer sufficient protection to dogs. Soft crates left unattended at the ringside are a potential hazard particularly when occupied by large breeds, and it has been known for dogs to become distressed and move soft crates along the floor and also escape. Soft crates should only be used when there is sufficient room available and when they can be safely secured. 26.Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification detailing that exhibit number, this should be displayed at all times The original exhibit number as provided by the Show Society must not be used for this purpose.
