What do you think of this? Nancy s dog loves to look at books and put his nose in the pages. He likes to push pencils with his nose too. What a fun dog! This dog is named Grace. What do you think she likes to do? She likes to get brushed and look nice. When her hair looks fancy, it makes her want to dance. She takes a bath twice a week. Wow! Some dogs do not like to bathe, but this dog does. She has loved baths since she was a baby. What Do Dogs Like? # Challenge Word: think, loud Some dogs are nice to mice, but some dogs chase mice. This dog likes mice. In fact, he thinks it is fun to give mice a ride! Once, he gave two friends a long ride. They raced around the city block twice.

What do you think this funny dog likes? Well, he likes to be nice. He likes to lick faces. He loves to dance and make boys and girls giggle and smile. Some dogs like ki ens, but some dogs do not. Do you think this dog likes the ki en, Cindy? He sure does! He kisses her face twice. 3 This cute dog is named Lace. She is very shy, so she likes kids who are nice and gentle. She will come to you if you do not yell or hit. The gym is not a fun place for Lace since it is so loud. She will stay home. 6 Do you know what this dog likes to do best? He spends his mes doing tricks. He jumps over fences. He can spin in place. His bark is very loud. 4 1

This mother pushes her baby girl. She is not in a rush. They all love to see the sun and sky. They stop and sit on a bench in the shade and share a snack. Next, they will eat a nice lunch that their mom made. This mother says, Hush. I love you so much. She makes the boy s bed, puts him in it, and rocks him. He can smile, or he can cry, but his mother is s ll kind. Mothers #3 Challenge Words: mother, kind My mother takes me to be with us. We look at a good book as I sit in her lap. Mother makes our home and my life blissful! She teaches us to be nice and kind.

This is my mother. She makes me lunch and washes the dishes. I say, You do so much for me. I want to do so much for you! We have a good me together. This girl wants to help her mom do chores. She picks up the trash. She makes the le shine with a mop. She makes it look so good. Her mom will be so glad! 3 The boy fell and hit his knee. He dashes home to his mother, and she is there to help him and give him a hug. Then he runs off to play, and his mother smiles. Being a mother is such a nice job! 6 Mothers share. They love and help. They wish for us to be glad. They want to shape us to be good and kind like Jesus. This mother does a lot for her family each day. 4 1

A er our jobs, we spent me playing. We made a fort, we pushed the ki ens in a cart, and we spo ed a big stork. Oh, we had the best me at Grandpa s farm! We all had a part to do in the yard. I fed the li le chicks some seeds for lunch. This job was not hard. It was fun to feel the so chicks in my arms. They were charming and made sweet sounds: Peep, peep, peep. On Grandpa s Farm #6 Challenge Words: air, sound, lamb

All the grandchildren came to the farm last week. It was March, and the grass was star ng to turn green, and the air was warm and smelled sweet. It felt so good to be at the farm! Karl and Mark helped chop the logs for the fireplace. They stacked the logs by the barn. It felt good to do such hard work. 6 Rose made sure that the lambs came to no harm. She liked being in the fresh air, far from sounds like cars and horns. She loved si ng on the large rocks with a so lamb in her lap. One day Rose got to see a lamb being born in the barn. 3 4 1

So, listen, Sally, Jenny, Jerry, Abby, Andy, Anthony, Ashley, and all other children out there. When you want to whine when it is me to clean, just think of what the world would be like if no one ever worked! And do not forget to smile, sing, and dream as you spend me cleaning! And, oh dear, imagine what a wreck the dishes all would be if we never cleaned them when we were done ea ng. They would be gross, nasty, smelly, moldy, dirty, grimy, disgus ng things. But, how sweet, nice, sparkly, and polished a clean dish is. Which kind of dish would you want to eat with? Cleaning #10 Challenge Words: imagine, would Cleaning does not have to be a bore. We can sing and dream while we do our chores. We can feel the wind or hear a sweet bird sing. We can smile, imagine, and have a good time while we work and clean.

Nancy never wanted to leave that pre y, peaceful place away from cement and loud trucks. Nature seemed magical. Don t worry, said her dad. We will come back soon. And they did. Her father got a lodge up on the hill, and Nancy came twice every month to run and explore in the hills and play with her animal friends. Nancy discovered a surprise a fragile birds nest. She was amazed at how well the nest was made. She loved to watch the mother bird with her baby birds. The mother was so gentle and caring. Birds are amazing! Nancy Loves Nature #14 Challenge Words: nature, pretend, noise Once, Nancy s parents took her camping in the center of a nice, huge forest in Northern France. Nancy loved to feel the gentle breeze on her face. She loved to dance in circles under the warm sunshine. She loved the smell of fresh pine trees and grass. She even loved the smell of dirt!

So do not waste your life with too much me on a screen. Put it down, and explore a book, a hillside, or a garden. Learn to play an instrument or a sport. Sit with a good book. Sing, dance, or run. Create a drawing. Write a book. Make a fort. Plant a flower. God gave you a whole wide world to explore! God gave us a whole world to explore. We get joy from spending me doing things such as exploring, working, running, hiking, swimming, reading, learning, drawing, pain ng, crea ng, or spending me with our family. A Whole World to Explore #1 Challenge Words: things Years ago, children did not have any screens. They played outside much more than children do today. When we play outside, we can feel and see the wonderful things God made. We can hear the music of a cricket;. We can see a graceful bird; we can feel the so whiskers of a ki en.

Playing games or watching shows on a screen can be fun some mes if the games and shows are good and clean. But there is so much more to do. God made children to run and hike and work and play and explore the wonderful world He made for us. 6 If we are not careful, playing games on screens can waste much of our me here on the earth. God wants us to use our me wisely. He wants us to learn new things and to work on our talents. Hong and Faith study hard each day. They love to write and read and do math and art. They also work on developing their talents in sports and music. They love to learn new things. 3 4 1
