CCA Board and Membership - It is with great pleasure that we submit the bid from the Midwest Collie Connection for hosting the 2019 Collie Club of America National Specialty in Peoria, IL. This group has put a lot of time and effort into their bid as will be readily apparent when you review it. They have secured grant funding from the City of Peoria there by insuring that both the CCA and the exhibitor benefit. They have presented a budget that realistically depicts the costs and income of putting on a national specialty in this day and age and we believe they are on solid footing. They have also developed a relationship with the City of Peoria that can only enhance the National experience for all exhibitors and spectators! Their sites have been chosen to be dog and exhibitor friendly. Both agility and herding will be held on the same grounds in a wonderful facility with personal that are well versed in both sports. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the National Show Committee or the proposed Show Chairs! National Show Committee COLLIE CLUB OF AMERICA 2019 NATIONAL SPECIALTY March 23 rd March 30 th 2019 Come experience the SPIRIT OF THE HEARTLAND Welcome to your Midwest Collie Connection! We are a gathering of enthusiastic collie fanciers predominately from the Illinois & Wisconsin specialty clubs. With the assistance of our Midwest neighbors we want to welcome the 2019 Collie Club of America National Specialty to Peoria, IL. Peoria is located halfway between Chicago & St. Louis, nestled along the Illinois River in the Heartland of Illinois. Peoria gives you big city amenities with the flavor of small town hospitality. 3 blocks from the Civic Center, the Peoria Riverfront offers dining, shopping, and entertainment. A 4 time All American City award winner, Peoria is welcoming us with open arms! (Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau http://www.peoria.org/) Peoria Civic Center, Central Illinois premier convention center, features an 110,000 sq. ft. Exhibit Hall, providing ample space for Conformation, Obedience/Rally, grooming, and vendors. Fully equipped meeting rooms are available onsite for our seminars and meetings. Directly outside of Exhibit Hall D is a concession stand that will be open for us with customizable menus and no minimum purchase required. Parking is onsite and free (754 spaces). There will be onsite parking for motorhomes with electrical hookups. A honey wagon and water service will be scheduled during the week. There is plenty of grassy area around the Civic Center to walk dogs, plus a short 3 block walk takes you to the dog friendly Peoria Riverfront!! The PCC is conveniently located off of I-74, making it easily accessible from every major cross-country interstate. No other major events are planned for the area at this time. (Peoria Civic Center http://www.peoriaciviccenter.com/home) A climate controlled, dog friendly skywalk from the Civic Center provides access to the sister hotels: Marriott Pere Marquette and the Courtyard by Marriott, which will serve as our Host Hotels. They applied to the Peoria Area Tourism Reserve Fund for a grant to offset our facility costs. In October 2015 the TRF awarded funding to cover our full facility costs! (See Grant letters contained in the PACKET link) What does this mean? Our Facility Costs are fully paid for! Facility costs include the following: (See the Civic Center Proposal contained in the PACKET link) * 7 Full days, Monday - Sunday * Exhibit Halls A-D. Halls A-C are column free, hall D has 3 columns. All 4 halls will provide us with 110,000 square feet of open space * Fully equipped meeting rooms for Breed Ed., Judges Ed., Junior s seminar, Board meetings * Show Office, Trophy Room, Judges Lounge * Electric for exhibitors & motorhomes * Tables, skirting, chairs, bleachers, house sound system, Wireless Internet * Garbage cans inside & out, custodial service for nightly clean-up, final clean-up * Event Manager services for show days and move-in & move-out * Assistance with building layout & inspections * Basic Janitorial service, working lights, heat/air * Labor * Overnight Security that will check on dogs. NOT INCLUDED: Food & Beverage purchases. This is quite possibly a Once In A Lifetime happening!! So you will see in our budget that we have chosen to share our good fortune with our exhibitors by REDUCING entry fees and seating, RV parking, and grooming costs. We are providing a detailed Budget to show a more comprehensive accounting of our proposed income & expenses. As you can see we have a very healthy dollar amount under Miscellaneous Expenses for those unexpected extras. We still plan on the usual fundraisers (with a few new ones up our sleeves). We still plan to aggressively solicit trophy donations for all events. The Peoria Civic Center and the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau will also be assisting us in securing donations and possible sponsorship of the Welcome Party. If we are successful in winning the bid, we have a commitment from Chicago Collie Club, Central States Collie Club, Collie Club of Southern Wisconsin, and Northern Wisconsin Collie Club to each do a fundraiser and donate the proceeds to the National in hopes of further lowering grooming space fees for exhibitors, and we hope to expand this fundraiser! The staff at the Peoria Civic Center and the Peoria Area Convention & Visitors Bureau have gone above and beyond to ensure the success of our event. They have truly been a pleasure to work with! With all this we feel we have the opportunity to offer the CCA not only a substantial proposed profit for this National, but a realistic one, and an outstanding show experience for our exhibitors!

I have been around and raised Collies pretty much since I was born on a farm in North Dakota. Sam, an oversized Rough Collie was my companion as I grew up. My wife, Ginny, and I started showing Rough Collies in 1984, and became CCA members in 1986. We have shown dogs in Obedience, Conformation and Agility, earning titles both in the USA and Canada. I have judged 4-H and AKC obedience matches and a number of Collie Sweepstakes. My wife and I had the pleasure of Co-breeding the 1993 CCA WB-BOW, CH Executive s Remember Always, with one of our mentors, the late Rita Stanczik of Executive Collies. I have been an officer and board member of various dog clubs, including being a charter member of the Collie Club of Central Iowa and an active member and past president of the Cyclone Country Kennel Club of Ames. I have been the Agility trial Chairman for the Cyclone Country Kennel Club for the past 15 years. I have been a leader in setting up successful seminars, trials, shows and events not only in the dog world but also in my professional life. Prior National Show committees I have been involved with include grooming, merchandise and trophy. With Jean Framke as my Co-Chair and the great group of volunteers we have willing to chair and co-chair the various committees, we will make the 2019 National a true success! Jean Framke Bio for CCA 2019 Host Co-Chair Hello, my name is Jean Framke. I have loved collies ever since reading Albert Payson Terhune s Lad A Dog when I was a kid. In 1986 my husband Jim and I purchased our first show puppy from Rita Stanczik of Executive Collies. Rita became my mentor and along the way, she and her husband Jerry became family to Jim and I. Rita co-bred our Ara with us, CH Fury s The Spirit of Legends, ROM ROM-P, 1989 CCA Best Puppy. To date we have finished 9 conformation Champions with a few being from the Bred-By class. Jim and I became CCA members in 1988. For CCA I have served as Chair of the Tellers Committee. I am a current member of Illiana Collie Fanciers, having joined in 1986, where I have served on the Board and as President many times. I have also served as Show Secretary, Show Chair and Trophy Chair for Iliana s specialty show. I am also a member of Chicago Collie Club having joined in 2014. Thru the years I have enjoyed judging numerous Collie sweepstakes. I have also been involved in co-hosting many seminars with local IL & WI Collie Clubs. Prior National Show experience includes Chairing or Co-Chairing the Merchandise committee 2 times, Co-Chairing the Trophy committee, along with being a member of the Co-Host club, Illiana Collie Fanciers, for the National in La Crosse, WI in 2008 & 2013. I think for 2019 we have put together a strong group to assist us, with many of our Chairs or Co-Chairs having past National experience. Under Kelly Montgomery s leadership I am confident we can make the 2019 National a success!! Thank you for giving us this opportunity!
