This Draft Test is sanctioned by the Working Dog Committee of the Newfoundland Club of America. Spring 2008 Draft Test Judges: John Pearson and Gary Walker Entry Limit: This test is limited to 12 Newfoundlands (a team counts as a single entry). Entries over this limit will be placed on an alternate list. Openings will be filled from the alternate list in the order received. Requalifiers will be accepted as space allows and will be judged last in their class. In other words, untitled dogs will be given first priority even if their entry is received after that of a titled dog. No post entry of teams will be accepted. Entry Fee: $40 per entry (teams are a single entry) Please make checks payable to the Newfoundland Club of Southern California or NCSC. Dates: Entries postmarked before February 15, 2008 will be returned. Closing date for entries is March 12, 2008. Required Forms: The Newfoundland Club of America requires a photocopy of each dog s AKC registration with entry. Draft Test Regulations: All entrants are responsible for obtaining the NCA Draft test rules and regulations as stated in the Regulations revised October 30, 1999 and effective January 1, 2000. Description of the Test Site: The Draft Test will be held at O Melveny Park, a large regional park which may be crowded on weekends. The course may include variations of terrain including dirt paths, some with ruts, a cement bridge, a wooden bridge, a gravel area, grass areas, moderate hills, and dogs may be required to cross a quiet street. It is a 300 yard walk up a mild incline from the parking lot to the test site. There have been ticks in this park in the past. Pre-Test Practice: There will be no formal practice. Entrants may cart around the park on Saturday, March 29, 2008. The grounds will be open from dawn to dusk. The maneuvering course will be set up early Sunday morning. The course will not be open until the official start of the test on Sunday, March 30, 2008. All dogs must be on leash when not working. Miscellaneous: Bitches in season will be allowed to participate, but will be judged after all other entries have completed the entire test.
Catalog Advertising Full-Page advertisements in the Draft Test Catalog are available at a cost of $10 per page. Catalog advertisements help offset the costs of the test, but must be pre-paid. Advertisements must be camera-ready or electronically submitted in Microsoft Word. The submission deadline is March 21, 2008. The time and location will be included in each entrant s confirmation letter. Please indicate the number that will be attending on the back of the entry form so that an accurate reservation can be made. Morning Hospitality: A continental breakfast will be provided for participants, stewards and judges the morning of the test. Lunch: One lunch will be provided per entry. Additional lunches are available for purchase at the price of $7.00 ($4.00 for children). You must pre-purchase any additional lunches by indicating the number needed on the back of the entry form and enclosing a check for the proper amount. AGREEMENT I (we) acknowledge that the NCA test regulations have been made available to me (us) and that I am (we are) familiar with their contents. I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem to be sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prize money, ribbons or trophies, I (we) agree to hold this club, its members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents, or test secretary and the owner or lesser of the premises or grounds and the employees of the aforementioned parties, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or upon the test premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim or loss of the dog by disappearance, theft, damage or injury, be caused or alleged to be caused by the negligence of the club or any of the parties aforementioned, or by the negligence of any other person or any other cause. I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify and save the aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties for damage because of bodily injuries, including death at any time, resulting there from, sustained by any person or persons, including myself (ourselves) or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in this test, howsoever such injuries, death or damage to property may be caused, and whether or not the same may have been caused or may be alleged to have been caused by negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their employees or agents, or other persons.
