Foreword BJP (Marts) Ltd are proud to be instructed to conduct a Dispersal Sale of the entire milking portion and In Calf Heifers from Coombe Farm, Red Roses on behalf of Ken & Jacky Wilson. The sale is occasioned as a result of going out of milk and will be held at Carmarthen Market on the 4 th October 2017 and will comprise 115 Friesian Holstein Cows in milk and in calf and 30 In Calvers due through the Autumn. The Herd was established in 1977 is an all year round calving herd which has been developed over the years to its impressive current standing in terms of type on inspection and performance on production. The commercial herd is managed for production of high volume of quality milk off grass and silage with parlour fed concentrates on a twice a day milking pattern. The annual concentrates fed of 2 tonne per cow under the above husbandry system has produced an annual yield per cow of 9,800 litres at 3.96%BF and 3.27% Protein; with latest SCC test of 128. For 10 years in a row Coombe Farm won the Dairy Crest Supreme Milk Quality Award Competition. The high genetic merit of the herd is the foundation for this husbandry with Nominated Bulls used including Jordan, Baron, Lucky Mike, Mascol Mars, Emporor, Spooky, Cascade, Supreme, Topshot, Classic, O Kody and Overside Dragon. In the last seven years sexed semen has been used off Spooky, Sirus, Topshot, Asterix, Mascol Mars and O Kody. The herd is high health status having been vaccinated against IBR is September 2017, Lepto in March 2017 and BVD in December 2016. The last milk recording was on the 18 th September 2017. The herd passed a pre movement TB test on Saturday 23 rd September. Viewing of the Cattle is highly recommended on the morning of the sale.
